Androgel pump

Common Questions and Answers about Androgel pump

androgel

I tried the androgel pump, but that stuff is a pain in the butt. You have to rub it all over, im afraid to be around my kids. It also gave me this weird flulike feeling all the time. Didnt do much for my libido, made my testicles ache like mad. Add the aching on top of my thyroid discomfort and it didnt make for a happy life. I am now going to try the testosterone patch. Its 2.5. I am not a bodybuilder, i work out, but just a normal build, rather slender in fact.
My total T was 180 and normal values are 240 to 800 according to my lab. So back in October I was started on 2.5 mg (2 pumps) of androgel. Level went up to 440 Total T. I pushed the doc to let me try 5g (4 pumps) so we can get into he high range. I have been on that now for 3.5 months Just got checked and my T was 785 and Ftrr T I believe 22.0 (very good). I fell GREAT! But about 2 weeks ago he checks my blood pressure and it was 145/90.
I started taking Androgel about two months ago. I use the pump. The doc originaly prescribed two pumps per should every day. The first two weeks were GREAT. Sex drive way up. Anxiety (something I have a problem with) was down. Energy levels up. Workout routines were better. Loved it. After two weeks I lost those gains....felt like I did before. So the doc moved me up to 3 pumps per shoulder per day. Again, two weeks of great feeling and then back to where I was. Anyone else?
I have low testosterone from being on a pain pump implant for almost 7 years and I'm currently on Androgel but the side effect is that it keeps me up all night long like insomnia. I have been living this way for 4 months. I can't go to sleep until 4 or 5 am every morning. If I were to switch to the shots or the pellets would that rid me of the current side effects that I'm suffering from?
Through Internet research, I got mixed views on what normal testosterone levels are. I had mine checked 3 months ago and they were 162. I was told by the doctor that normal is between 241 and 827. He prescribed a "lotion pump", 5 pumps, once a day. Today, after the three monthsand another test, my doctor calls and says it's now up to 536. Although I do feel relief in the testicular pain and a minor increase in my libido, I am certainly not 100% and is this rapid increase normal?.
All tests came back negative, although my testosterone tests were considered low. I had been put on Androgel with absolutely no effect and viagra also with no effect. At this point I dont know where to turn for direction. My last urologist said he simply didnt know how to help me. So, what would you recommend for the next step??
I experienced a rise from 4.0 top 6.9 in PSA six months ago. My MD cut my androgel use back to every other day from everyday. He thought the sudden rise coincided with my start up of using Androgel. I experienced no cut back on ability to achieve an erection and had better urine flow, I did not have to pump. I had some blood work done five days ago and it was 13.9.
Can anyone tell me if they have had luck with androgel pumps? My free level is in range but my t level is 255 range 250 to 1200. I am hypothyroid and the last time I tried the pump and the patch it made me feel worse. Also, if the required dosing is 4 pumps, is it ok to just start with 2?
I am a 61 year old male. I have been on various anti-depressants since my late 30's (Major Dysthymic Depression, PTSD). Since 1992 I have had off and on again problems maintaining an erection and finally around 2000 I pretty much lost interest in sex all together. Finally in 2005 I went to an Endocrinologist and she diagnosed me as having way low testosterone. She put me on patches and later Androgel pumps and finally little packets that I squeeze on.
She put me on a estrogen spray (evamist) which I spray on the inside of my left arm 2 sprays every night and the she put me on Androgel ( testosterone ). Its a gel and I use 1 pump every other night and apply it to the inside of my right arm. I am scared to take these drugs and have stopped taking them like I am suppose to.

Transference is a worry. Right now I apply one pump or 20.25mgs of Androgel 1.62%. As I mentioned above, I experience constant headaches and dry lips. I hope they continue to subside. Recently, I have been familiarizing myself with Doctor John Crisler’s method. I am considering implementing subcutaneous HCG injections daily. My testicular function is important to me. Please let me know your opinion on this treatment.
4mg, Prilosec 20mg, Androgel Pump 1% (4 pumps per day) and occasional aspirin.
It may be covered by Blue Cross/Blue Shield, but even if it isn't (mine isn't covered by my insurance), it probably isn't far from the co-pay for AndroGel. That's mostly because AndroGel went through extensive testing to become a name brand product (to the tune of tens of millions), so they are trying to recoup that expense before it goes generic, which usually erodes sales.
I came out of surgery very well but when the feeling came back in my lower body I was in unbearable pain they had me on a morphine pump and it wasn't touching it I layed there in that bed and cryed like a baby for 12 hours no sleep just praying and crying finnaly I cryed myself to sleep for about an hour.I went 3 days with apr.4 hours sleep.i don't know if the methadone kept me from the other meds to work or what. Now my pain dr.
The urologist I saw a month ago gave me Androgel 5mg packets to use once a day bc my T-level was only 356. Low-Normal range but still low for a 21 year old right? My mood has improved substantially since (I don't get depressed/irritable much anymore). However, my penis is still small flaccid, my libido is still low, no morning wood, etc. (all the above symptoms are still occuring). For this reason I thought the diagnosis must have been wrong.
