Androgel and sperm count

Common Questions and Answers about Androgel and sperm count

androgel

In my research I have just found out that this can actually DECREASE his sperm count and our chances to conceive, is this true? He is feeling better on the medication so don't want to stop it if we don't have to. If this does reduce our chances are there alternatives? His PCP is not exactly helpful and has given us no answers & didn't say the med would reduce sperm so not sure if this is true?
Before my question here is a little bit of history. I visited a Fertility doctor in South Florida and had a Sperm Count and mortality test. The results where not favorable, the sperm count are low and die easily. These doctors only gave me Vitamins and told me to go to an MD to have a general Checkup. I did this and the only thing my doctor found wrong with me is that my testosterone levels are very LOW. He put me on a testosterone replacement therapy (Androgel).
The family thinks it will help my mood, I've been depressed a lot during my adult life. My brother got tested last year and is on Androgel, and he swears it helps him, and our parents also says it helps him. They're all part of the reason for my deciding to get rechecked, that and the possibility of getting treated without taking shots. Anyhow, I'll probably end up taking this androgel stuff if the tests results end up the way I figure they're going to end up. So I want to know more about it.

I have the same question. My husband is 33 years old and has very low T level (<200) and right now using the Androgel for about 1 month. We just got married and want to have a baby soon.
I am 48 and feeling OK but my libido dropped and an MRi and blood tests indicate low LH and low Testosterone and microadenoma on the pituitatry. Sperm count is still good. I am afraid to androgel becuase it shuts testes down. Isn't treating LH with clomid best course?
I just started to take this medication last week for lack of production of testosterone and low sperm count. How quickly can I expect it to work? I stopped taking Androgel 3 weeks ago. Thanks for any information.
Hi, my husband has mild depression, low sex drive, soft erections, desesatization (which makes it harder for him to achieve orgasm), gained fat around his middle, more tired, but doesn't sleep well, loss of muscle mass, acne on his back, low sperm count, low sperm mobility, and he's had benign enlarged prostate and frequent urination at night. Plus he no longer has morning erections. These symptoms have developed one at a time over the yrs and has grown worse with age.

He said that he has run out of options for finding the root cause and that I just have low t. He prescribed me androgel, which I started last week. I am on no other meds or supplements. My questions are: Any ideas what could be causing this? If I have no major symptoms, do I need to be on androgel? Any other tests I should have done?
A sperm count is done to see the status. Testosterone level is tested along with if need be thyroid and pituitary status to know other causes of low testosterone . Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
When I was 44, I was diagnosed with low, though still normal testosterone levels (330 ng) and a low sperm count. My wife's doctor suggested that I take 20 mg Nolvadex- a medication that blocks estrogen receptors. I took the treatment for 18 months, then my sperm count was increased by 8X, so I thought it was time to quit the medication.
He sent me to an Uro who tested T levels which were on the lower end of the scale and he put me on T treatment. Due to the atrophy the sperm count is also low. Could you email me all research and info you have regarding getting off the T and try getting the size and function increased.
OK Guy's, i found this thread by accident and i thought it would be important to reply. First off i want everyone to relax and stay calm and i don't want anyone to think about suicide, i suffered the exact same as you guy's did but no one to give me any kind of answers (i am only 24 myself). I have the answers you guy's need, so please let me explain my own story first. When i was born, i was a healthy, young baby boy.
How you get HRT is not as important as how well it works. I've done both Androgel and Injections and they both work but they also both needed a number of labs and a sit downs with the doctor to talk over the results before the levels were adjusted so it worked. Re the 100mg Injections every two weeks? In my experience thats really really low. Ask your doctor to get you into range and quit trying to dial you up from zilch.

Please let me remind you again, and again, and again, that hCG is a PRESCRIPTION drug that MUST be dispensed by a licensed Physician. hCG injections are PART of a comprehensive weight reduction program. hCG administration is just ONE aspect of the complete hCG +diet program. Unfortunately many Healthcare Professionals modified the original method based on their own assumptions on how the method operates.
Could my testicles be hurt or should I see a doctor? I tried jerking off to see if my sperm was not affected and looked like it had blood in it. What's wrong?
