Androgel and muscle mass

Common Questions and Answers about Androgel and muscle mass

androgel

I love the results of Androgel i.e. increased libido, muscle mass, energy level, etc, but I am wondering if its worth it. My relationships at home are suffering badly.
After the initial treatments I was left with severe fatigue, loss of muscle mass and bone density so i was finally treated for these symptoms with Androgel (testosterone) which was very effective. My doctors have advised me to cease using the testosterone as it fuels my cancer. I now am experiencing great fatigue again and I fear my other symptoms will reappear. I have also added frequent and severe heat flashes as withdrawl has continued oover the past month. My question are, 1.
I ceased using the gel packs. Now, I have hot flashes frequently, daily, feel very fatigued and am worried about losing muscle mass, bone density and depression. My doctor said withdrawl is the reason for the problems and will pass in a month or so. It has been a month and now I wonder if my body will again take over the low level of testosterone it produced before the first treatment. I need to know, 1. When is it likely my withdrawl will be over? 2. Will it be over? 3.
The only thing I can recommend is contacting the company that makes the Androgel and ask if they can give it to you at a reduced rate since you have no insurance. Your Dr may have to fill out a little bit of paper work for the company. Take care.
Testosterone replacement in men with low serum levels provides many benefits, including improved energy, strength, and libido. Preservation of bone mass and muscle mass are also seen. The downside risks appear to be modest, and include weight gain, sleep apnea, and an increased red blood cell count. There is also much concern about long-term effects on the prostate, including an acceleration of benign enlargement or an increased risk of prostate cancer.
When I got low on Fortesta and ran out while bantering with the insurance company, I started losing muscle mass, constant fatigue, depression and absolutely no sex drive. I am now using Androgel and everything is back right! Don't worry, you look okay with those numbers.
This sounds exactly like what my husband is going through. Add infrequent hives after running, loss of upper body muscle mass and somewhat low libido and that is him. He also seems to have lost weight without trying. We already went the heart route to eliminate the most serious first which turned out okay and finally got blood test results on Friday that showed an extremely low free testosterone level. His total testosterone level was in normal range..
to check my testosterone level as part of my blood work, mostly out of curiosity, but also because I have trouble building muscle mass and strength despite putting in my time at the gym. Other than that, I have no other common low t symptoms. I have a great sex drive, no problem getting an erection, plenty of energy, have had 2 children recently (so am fertile),in good physical shape etc. My first test came back at 168. He did 1 more and it came back at 160.
Hi, my husband has mild depression, low sex drive, soft erections, desesatization (which makes it harder for him to achieve orgasm), gained fat around his middle, more tired, but doesn't sleep well, loss of muscle mass, acne on his back, low sperm count, low sperm mobility, and he's had benign enlarged prostate and frequent urination at night. Plus he no longer has morning erections. These symptoms have developed one at a time over the yrs and has grown worse with age.
Hi all. New to this. I am a 44 year old woman who is physically fit (gym 5 days a week) and eats pretty well. Approx 5 weeks ago I developed veins showing on both hands. They have not gone away and infact they are bulging most times, and I can "feel them". They have increased and I can see some starting to climb up my forearm now. Before this, my veins barely ever showed.
He proceeded to place me on a hormone named Norditropin Nordiflex which I had to inject into my deltoid 7 days a week at bed time, he also placed me on 8 pumps of Androgel daily. It did'nt take long for me to lose fat and gain lean muscle mass. He insisted that this would take care of the way I was feeling and supposeably he kept my primary physician up to date on my progress. This did not take care of my symtoms, It just made things worse.
What are the exact results of your T3 and T4 and were those Free T3 and Free T4 or were they Total T3 and Total T4? Testing for the Totals is obsolete and of limited value, but many doctors still test them, instead of the Frees. Often if you have a pituitary issue, other pituitary hormones will be off, as well. Have you been tested for TSH, FSH, LH, ACTH, etc? Typically, provided that nothing else is wrong, low testosterone would be treated with replacement hormones.
Believe this is due to weakness -Issues with sitting up straight, probably related to the muscle mass loss and weakness I experienced. Walking and standing are not issues with this. -Brain Fog/Loss of concentration -Itchy skin -Front teeth are starting to feel loose - I attribute this to the Vitamin D issue with Hep B patients -Have suddenly become afraid of heights -Issues with sleep. I can no longer take a nap in the afternoon like I used to be able to.

He has seen an endo who has diagnosed him with hypothyroidism. He has been receiving treatments of Synthroid and Androgel. Unfortunately, as his TSH levels go up, his T levels are going down: DATE T TSH 12/20/2006 222 3.397 2/5/2007 182 n/a 5/12/2007 251 4.74 8/28/2007 240 4.139 12/10/2007 388 3.849 3/18/2007 273 3.909 6/16/2008 170 2.888 9/17/2008 n/a 2.382 He is now taking 112mcg of Synthroid daily along with Androgel. His PSA came back negative.
most people are gave like 100 a week well I will be on 500 a week due to the fact I will also use it to gain muscle mass because after 10 years of xanax i never really wanted to do anything but sleep and chill. Got to the point where I am taking 15 2mg xanax bars at a time just to stop an anxiety attack.
Did you do a patch, gels, injections? What doses and frequencies? . Any positive effects? Mood? Energy? Muscle Mass? Sexual Function? Cholesterol? . Any negative effects? Mood? Energy? Skin? Cholesterol? Other? . How frequently are you monitored during therapy and are there any other monitoring tests you advise besides total test and free test? . At age 60, am I too old to win the Tour de' France, or will the Testoserone therapy make me competitive? Thanks all.
What this means is that my body not generating or receiving enough vitamin D and is having to pull calcium from my bones and teeth - causing joint and body pain, and muscle pains - think of having the flu but without a fever. Vitamin D is key to your body being able to absorb calcium from foods you eat. It's why milk is fortified with vitamin D. There are two approaches to solving both the problems. With the TRT I have had some success in breaking up my injections.
They are considered safe, but no long term studies have been done yet though the short studies all look good though they do increase your dht levels as well as the testosterone so many people notice side effects like balding, enlarged pituatary gland, and acne so unless you are working out and trying to gain muscle mass, you should probably just try the zinc test.
Testim is alot better than androgel for me at least, though i seem to respond well to both (i am very lean with little muscle mass). HCG helps restore ejaculate volume and testicular size and prevents the tight scrotum problem while on TRT.
Please let me remind you again, and again, and again, that hCG is a PRESCRIPTION drug that MUST be dispensed by a licensed Physician. hCG injections are PART of a comprehensive weight reduction program. hCG administration is just ONE aspect of the complete hCG +diet program. Unfortunately many Healthcare Professionals modified the original method based on their own assumptions on how the method operates.
I have had the same problem before and had the psoas muscle released by a sportstherapist and the aslo worked on the groin muscles and through trigger pointing the muscles there has been a referred pain directly into the testicle. Find a musculo skeletal specialist in your area and let them try some muscle testing. Muscular pain can be the cause of so many pains.
I called him when I got home and explained my back spasms, sore shoulders and neck muscles and asked if the jaw clinching could cause muscle spasms in my back. He said "absolutley"! he has patients with these symptoms and told me he could fit me with a custom night guard that costs $650.00 so tonight Ill sleep with my teeth whitening plastic guard ( 5 bucks!) that is similar and see if it prevents the grinding. Research TMJ or nightly jaw clinching associated with back spasms.
