anastrozole vs femara

I have been on Anastrozole for year, 4 more to go (5 ys.) I have the worse Joint pain, stiffness, hurts to walk, get up from chair, I get out of bed hurting, I ache everyday. My skin and stays so dry, my hair grew back after chemo, but is lifeless, thin, etc. I do not like this Pill and want to discontinue, but my Oncologist said it is doing me more good, to keep taking it. This pill is really aging me, dry wrinkly skin, no energy, cant walk and move like I want to.

The oncologist switched me to Anastrozole but the Anastrozole failed. My mom passed away at the age of 97 from omentum cancer. We didn't know she had cancer until 2 months before she passed. It's a very slow growing cancer. We had no idea and had never heard of omentum cancer before but we were later told It's a metastasis from the ovaries. My recent telehealth appointment with Sloan-Kettering the oncologist suggested exemestane Hormone blocker. Wishing your mom the best.

I have now nearly completed 5 years of Arimidex, My Oncologist ir recommending that in October I change to Femara secondary to a clinical trial which has concluded that I am at some risk of the cancer still recurring. I am unsure about this as the side effects of the arimidex hot flashes, weight gain etc causing me to be on a high dose of Effexor are quite debilitating at times. What are my risks if I choose to just stop the Arimidex and not continue with a change to Femara...

) That said, speaking just as another lay person like yourself, I agree that it would seem to make more sense to try continuing Arimidex with the Oxcontin, to give it a fair trial, and then if it is still intolerable, to try Femara, first without, and then if necessary with Oxycontin, so your wife would have a real head-to-head comparison in regard to which might be better over the long haul.

t want to take fossamax or any more drugs than necessary, but also do not want a recurrence of breast cancer. Is there a clinical study and shows femara vs placebo rather than femara vs tamoifen (novartis trial)? What is the general recommendation? Can you stop femara if side effects become a quality of life issue? Thank you.

At that time, I remember reading somewhere that headaches are the only symptom that are typically worse with Femara vs. Clomid. Hopefully it works for you both soon and you don't have to endure the migranes anymore! Best of luck.

Eventually a few months later I get to an actual fertility specialist. He put me on femara 2.5mg twice a day. I had no side effects from femara, whereas with clomid the side effects were terrible (moody, hot flashes, sore boobs, etc) femara was wonderful compared to clomid! my first cycle on femara I did not ovulate, but on my second round of femara i used hcg injection and got pregnant that way. good luck!!

Now endo is suggesting that in order to give him more time to grow, we give him Anastrozole. I have seen lot of posts and spent hours on the forums wherever I found mention of advanced bone age/Anastrozole/Letrozole. It seems there are quite a few posts under Pediatric Endo forum but not able to find any answers if any parents tried Anastrozole/Letrozole and what has been their experience regarding delaying bone age and side effects.

I hear ya about the being drained!! sometimes i just want to feel like a "normal" person and live my life and not have to worry constantly about ttc, where i am in my cycle am i preg etc etc etc!!! it defintely gets old, BUT is hopefully all worth it in the end! MANY people get preg on femara, everyones bodies respond differently.. you can come join us on the femara group, there are a bunch of us on there..

Have developed a heart rhythm disturbance, shortness of breath, edema of hands and legs/feet since being on Anastrozole. How worried should I be? After researching online, Femara is typically used to treat breast cancer. However, research has suggested there is a higher success rate with Femara vs. Clomid. Along with Femara, we are going to continue the Ovidrel shot. Ask you doctor about this. Maybe this could be an option for you and your husband. Good luck!!

t work too well for me. I am undergoing IUI and only had 1 egg each cycle. my RE swiched my to femara and I had 5 one cyle and 3 the last cycle. My lining is very thin and I guess clomid natrually thins the endometrial lining, which I didnt know. Besides that, I had 0 side effects with femara-no hot flashes, no headaches and no emotional outbusts which my DH was thankful for. :) Hope this helps and good luck to you!!

As of right now we are holding off on meds. He is growing but still just a little each year. He hasn’t hit a growth spurt yet but I’m hoping he does very soon. My son is 4’6” now and I worry so much that he is not going to reach anywhere near his mid parental height. How tall is your son? We have seen an endocrinologist who thinks anastrazole would be a good way for him to get closer to his potential, but I am so scared to put him onedicines just to gain a few inches.

t give Femara, but our new highly respected RE is putting me on Femara and has very high hopes. He said in some studies Femara is 2x more likely to result in pregnancy. Wish me luck! Any others had success with this vs clomid?

I have used both Clomid and Femara. I didn't end up with a BFP, but I definitely O'd while on them and they helped lengthen my cycles/luteal phase. Anyway, I liked Femara much better than Clomid. Clomid gave me terrible mood swings and hot flashes. The only thing I noticed with the Femara was that I had mid-cycle headches and I read somewhere that is one symptom that is typically stronger with Femara vs Clomid.

I had some medium spotting on 16th so I counted that as Day 1 of period as on a normal month thats what would happen, then started heavy bleeding on day 3 which is when I started the Fertility drug Femara.. Doc said I should of started the drug on the 19th..

I am on 1st round of Femara, too. Today is cd21 for me and opk is finally getting close to positive. This is a long wait to o for me. On Clomid, I o'd between cd9 & 12. Oh well, hopefully the wait is worth it. I may be delayed from the cyst I had from the Clomid. It finally dissolved. Good luck!

If you've had Hashimoto's for that long, have you also been on any replacement thyroid hormone medication? If so, what medication, dosage and for how long? Have you had Free T4 and Free T3 tested to determine actual thyroid hormone levels? If so, what are their results, with reference ranges? I've read that there's a connection between breast cancer and thyroid disease, but I'm not exactly sure what it is.

I don't know what Ovidrel is, is that the trigger shot? I took Menopur, femara and Novarel together (I think Novarel is the same as Ovidrel).
