Anastrozole in men

Common Questions and Answers about Anastrozole in men

arimidex

Avatar m tn Now endo is suggesting that in order to give him more time to grow, we give him Anastrozole. I have seen lot of posts and spent hours on the forums wherever I found mention of advanced bone age/Anastrozole/Letrozole. It seems there are quite a few posts under Pediatric Endo forum but not able to find any answers if any parents tried Anastrozole/Letrozole and what has been their experience regarding delaying bone age and side effects.
Avatar n tn I have been on Anastrozole for year, 4 more to go (5 ys.) I have the worse Joint pain, stiffness, hurts to walk, get up from chair, I get out of bed hurting, I ache everyday. My skin and stays so dry, my hair grew back after chemo, but is lifeless, thin, etc. I do not like this Pill and want to discontinue, but my Oncologist said it is doing me more good, to keep taking it. This pill is really aging me, dry wrinkly skin, no energy, cant walk and move like I want to.
Avatar n tn Have developed a heart rhythm disturbance, shortness of breath, edema of hands and legs/feet since being on Anastrozole. How worried should I be? Should I consider discontinuation discussions with my Dr.? This discussion is related to Can Arimidex Cause Skin Lesions?.
Avatar f tn Is arimadex as good as tamoxifen in OVCA treatment? I was stage 3C after surgery in 05. I'm wondering about it's value in combination with taxol/avastin for recurrence. My med/onc is recommending it.
Avatar m tn com/view/letrozole-maintenance-therapy-improves-rfs-in-ovarian-cancer- 2.5 mg is the typical dose used in studies. What side effects are you experiencing? And what does your prescribing physician/oncologist say?
Avatar f tn im on anastrozole.
Avatar f tn If you've had Hashimoto's for that long, have you also been on any replacement thyroid hormone medication? If so, what medication, dosage and for how long? Have you had Free T4 and Free T3 tested to determine actual thyroid hormone levels? If so, what are their results, with reference ranges? I've read that there's a connection between breast cancer and thyroid disease, but I'm not exactly sure what it is.
Avatar f tn I have been noticing his rapid development since birth. He has always been beyond the 97th percentile in the growth chart. Recent pead visit suggested me to do hormone growth and igf blood test. All shows within normal range. However, his bone age of left hand & wrist indicated that he is 13years and 6 months old. Is it alarming? What does it indicate?
Avatar f tn After being off anastrozole i had them check his testosterone. Igf-1 in range but high with z score 1.9. GH dose increased from 2.8 to 2.9 6 days per week. T was only 62. No bottom of range is given for 15 year olds although if I look at tanner 4 range he was under the low limit of 160. Free T is 9.9. Once he gets to 16 the ranges all say T should be above 160. He has confided in me that he has had no nocturnal emissions or spermarche.
Avatar f tn Dear river1980, Both Femara (letrozole) and Arimidex (anastrozole) are aromatase inhibitors used in the treatment of hormone receptor positive breast cancer in post menopausal women. Aromatase inhibitors block the enzyme aromatase (found in the body's muscle, skin, breast and fat), which is used to convert androgens (hormones produced by the adrenal glands) into estrogen. In the absence of estrogen, tumors dependent on this hormone for growth will shrink.
Avatar n tn I have had IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) for 35 years, but mostly very mild and not very problematic since I was in my 20s. Now, in the past few years, I have g.i. symptoms I hardly ever had before-- heartburn, acid reflux, pain in my small and large intestines, occasional nausea. Diagnostic tests have not revealed a reason for this. But recently I have been wondering--could the g.i. symptoms be a side effect of anastrozole (arimidex)?

17542556 tn?1457654206 The same goes for asking about a change to a different medication. These drugs MUST be given a chance as side effects may change in severity in time. Hang in there ..... give things a chance to improve. Take care .....
Avatar f tn Hello Bridget, My Mom has been itching constantly, been to a dermatologist, has breast and lung cancer, has sores from chest, back, arms, stomach groin area, just sores, infected looking sores from her constanly itching, breaking sores open,is on meds and creams from doctor and nothing helps, she's in a nursing home...what could be the cause or what else can be done for her?
Avatar n tn I have been taking Anastrozole for about two and half years for stage 1 ER/PR positive breast cancer. About a year after I started taking the drug, I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes that is not particularly well controlled, even though I take two different prescriptions. A few months after that I was diagnosed with high cholesterol. For that I now take Lipitor, which has lowered the total cholesterol quite a bit.
Avatar m tn Uti's are common in women, but not so much in men. Only about 3% of all men worldwide get UTI's. You are part of that group. Hopefully antibiotics will clear it up and you'll not have to worry about it again. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/320872.
1030058 tn?1252253572 Just have to say that I had the exact profile, stage 1 HER2+ cancer, mastectomy, 18 clean nodes in 1998. Sadly, I had a metastatic recurrance in January 2008, 9+ years later. I did not have any treatment outside of the surgery, which was the standard at the time. I would consider Herceptin if I were you as it has been shown to decrease recurrance by 50% even long after the original dx. I have been on it since my tragic recurrance, and have not had any negative side effects from it.
