Now endo is suggesting that in order to give him more time to grow, we give him Anastrozole. I have seen lot of posts and spent hours on the forums wherever I found mention of advanced bone age/Anastrozole/Letrozole. It seems there are quite a few posts under Pediatric Endo forum but not able to find any answers if any parents tried Anastrozole/Letrozole and what has been their experience regarding delaying bone age and side effects.
Have developed a heart rhythm disturbance, shortness of breath, edema of hands and legs/feet since being on Anastrozole. How worried should I be? Should I consider discontinuation discussions with my Dr.?

I have been on Anastrozole for year, 4 more to go (5 ys.) I have the worse Joint pain, stiffness, hurts to walk, get up from chair, I get out of bed hurting, I ache everyday. My skin and stays so dry, my hair grew back after chemo, but is lifeless, thin, etc. I do not like this Pill and want to discontinue, but my Oncologist said it is doing me more good, to keep taking it. This pill is really aging me, dry wrinkly skin, no energy, cant walk and move like I want to.

The oncologist switched me to Anastrozole but the Anastrozole failed. My mom passed away at the age of 97 from omentum cancer. We didn't know she had cancer until 2 months before she passed. It's a very slow growing cancer. We had no idea and had never heard of omentum cancer before but we were later told It's a metastasis from the ovaries. My recent telehealth appointment with Sloan-Kettering the oncologist suggested exemestane Hormone blocker. Wishing your mom the best.
If you've had Hashimoto's for that long, have you also been on any replacement thyroid hormone medication? If so, what medication, dosage and for how long?
Have you had Free T4 and Free T3 tested to determine actual thyroid hormone levels? If so, what are their results, with reference ranges?
I've read that there's a connection between breast cancer and thyroid disease, but I'm not exactly sure what it is.
As of right now we are holding off on meds. He is growing but still just a little each year. He hasn’t hit a growth spurt yet but I’m hoping he does very soon. My son is 4’6” now and I worry so much that he is not going to reach anywhere near his mid parental height. How tall is your son? We have seen an endocrinologist who thinks anastrazole would be a good way for him to get closer to his potential, but I am so scared to put him onedicines just to gain a few inches.
My son is on GH for GHD. Also did 2.25 yrs anastrozole since bone age was slightly ahead. Now only on GH. Age 15.5, bone age 13.5-14. Has all the puberty markers for tanner 4: pubic hair now starting a line to navel. Has to shave a couple times per week but only few hairs in beard area, voice deeper but no prominent adams apple yet. A year ago at endo appt we were told he didnt have to endure anymore testicle size checks. I assume that means they are near adult in size.

Dear river1980, Both Femara (letrozole) and Arimidex (anastrozole) are aromatase inhibitors used in the treatment of hormone receptor positive breast cancer in post menopausal women. Aromatase inhibitors block the enzyme aromatase (found in the body's muscle, skin, breast and fat), which is used to convert androgens (hormones produced by the adrenal glands) into estrogen. In the absence of estrogen, tumors dependent on this hormone for growth will shrink.
i. symptoms be a side effect of anastrozole (arimidex)? I have been taking it for 3 1/2 years, after 1 year on tamoxifen, following lumpectomy, chemo and radiation.

Also though not a health hazard as such, it will cause corrosion of pipes and this may cause impurities to mix with drinking water. Take care!

i once heard a story like this that is because of the impurities found in their garments and once you perspire, this wet surface provides a place for germs to stay, so i'm practically basing it from there,God bless,consult a doctor okay.

ll see that there is also a problem with DMSO if not gotten via a prescription, as it can contain impurities that enter the body. Read the information and then at least call a doctor and ask.

No diabetes (if this were a sample taken after fasting), no infection, no kidney disease. Sample might not have been a clear mid-stream sampling (slight, inconsequential impurities) but perhaps it was.

Thank you for answering my question. No,she is not on chemo therapy,she's on Faslodex250 mg.shots,Anastrozole 1 mg,and medicine from the doctor for itching and dry skin, plus a cream or lotion they put on her alot. I compared medication she was on before this itching started and
what she's on currently.....not much difference,just more pain meds,asprin,
and breast cancer medicine.
I have been taking Anastrozole for about two and half years for stage 1 ER/PR positive breast cancer. About a year after I started taking the drug, I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes that is not particularly well controlled, even though I take two different prescriptions. A few months after that I was diagnosed with high cholesterol. For that I now take Lipitor, which has lowered the total cholesterol quite a bit.
I found an article that said a small amount of codeine may show up in patients taking high doses of morphine due to possible impurities in manufacturing. Is this correct? Has anyone else run in to this?? My wife does not take any illicit medications so we are perplexed over this result and are wondering what her doctor is going to do, if anything, at her next appointment next month, 12/2016! Her doses are 45mgs of morphine sulfate ER two times a day and 5mgs of oxycodone three times a day.
