Now endo is suggesting that in order to give him more time to grow, we give him Anastrozole. I have seen lot of posts and spent hours on the forums wherever I found mention of advanced bone age/Anastrozole/Letrozole. It seems there are quite a few posts under Pediatric Endo forum but not able to find any answers if any parents tried Anastrozole/Letrozole and what has been their experience regarding delaying bone age and side effects.
Have developed a heart rhythm disturbance, shortness of breath, edema of hands and legs/feet since being on Anastrozole. How worried should I be? Should I consider discontinuation discussions with my Dr.?

I have been on Anastrozole for year, 4 more to go (5 ys.) I have the worse Joint pain, stiffness, hurts to walk, get up from chair, I get out of bed hurting, I ache everyday. My skin and stays so dry, my hair grew back after chemo, but is lifeless, thin, etc. I do not like this Pill and want to discontinue, but my Oncologist said it is doing me more good, to keep taking it. This pill is really aging me, dry wrinkly skin, no energy, cant walk and move like I want to.

The oncologist switched me to Anastrozole but the Anastrozole failed. My mom passed away at the age of 97 from omentum cancer. We didn't know she had cancer until 2 months before she passed. It's a very slow growing cancer. We had no idea and had never heard of omentum cancer before but we were later told It's a metastasis from the ovaries. My recent telehealth appointment with Sloan-Kettering the oncologist suggested exemestane Hormone blocker. Wishing your mom the best.
If you've had Hashimoto's for that long, have you also been on any replacement thyroid hormone medication? If so, what medication, dosage and for how long?
Have you had Free T4 and Free T3 tested to determine actual thyroid hormone levels? If so, what are their results, with reference ranges?
I've read that there's a connection between breast cancer and thyroid disease, but I'm not exactly sure what it is.
s gynecomastia for sure because fat deposits are symmetric. Gynecomastia can often be unilateral. You probably have "permanent" gyneomastia on that side. Surgical excision is the only remedy I am familiar with for that. If occurring due to a particular medication or frequent pot use, cessation of that agent may possibly reduce it (at least reduce the tenderness part).
A lump under the nipple of a young boy is most likely gynecomastia, which is common in boys around the age of puberty and is usually temporary.
Hello! I am 25 year old male who looks like 15-17. I've had gynecomastia since i was 15 and also havent grown since that age. Tbh my body havent really changed at all. My bones didnt grow larger or increase of muscles though i trained alot and went through a mandatory 2 years of national service. I still look very young and feel very depressed because of this.I researched about this online and found about hypogonadism. Is that the case or am i suffering from something else?

If you truly have gynecomastia then the only thing that will help is surgery. My son had gynecomastia and he had surgery and looks great. If this is going to mess with your life, then have the surgery!
A surgical consult would be best to sort out what exactly you are dealing with. Doesn't sound like gynecomastia to me. With gynecomastia you will present with full breast tissue just like a woman, not a lump.
I am a 26 year old male that suffers from Gynecomastia. I have had this issue pretty much all my life but I am sick of trying to hide it. I am not overweight infact I regulary excersize and go to the gym but nothing seems to work. Its not because of any prescription drugs because my brother suffers from it also. I was wondering if the Gynecomastia pills can reduce this. The surgery is quite expensive and I would like to avoid it if possible.

From the age of 11 i am suffering from gynecomastia (chest is like a woman). I have been recently been diagnosed with an enlarged breast bud or possible gynecomastia pending a hormone test that is only on the left side. I took a blood test and I am waiting for the results. It is testing my random testosterone, cortisol, estradiol, dhea levels and my hepatic profile. Late last year, I grew concerned that I had developed Gynecomastia. Concerned it could be my liver, I went to a gastroenterologist/Hepatologist who looked at my blood tests (all normal) and a recent ct scan (liver remarked as normal). He put my mind at ease. After doing a physical, he said not to worry.

Slight gynecomastia, fit and healthy and its noticeable. I visited the doctor about lumps behind the nipples, and got ignored basically. I would like to go again, but am afraid i will be treated the same way. Is there anything i can demand, or can i bypass the GP and see a specialist?

Hi, I went to a Mastologist to see if I had gynecomastia, since my nipples appear puffy, but they aren't hard, the nipples themselves are soft, and after I went to the consultation, I was told that it's not gynecomastia, and it's only fat. But my question is, can just fat cause the nipples to be puffy like it would appear if it's gynecomastia?. Additional information: I'm 18 years old and was overweight at around 12 years, when it appeared the puffy nipples.
My son is on GH for GHD. Also did 2.25 yrs anastrozole since bone age was slightly ahead. Now only on GH. Age 15.5, bone age 13.5-14. Has all the puberty markers for tanner 4: pubic hair now starting a line to navel. Has to shave a couple times per week but only few hairs in beard area, voice deeper but no prominent adams apple yet. A year ago at endo appt we were told he didnt have to endure anymore testicle size checks. I assume that means they are near adult in size.
