Common Questions and Answers about Anastrozole for men side effects

arimidex

Avatar m tn We are glad you are on to maintenance therapy for your previous cancer! Typically, letrozole does have a favorable side effect profile in relation to toxicity. This doesn't mean it is side effect free, however. The trade off is that it does appear affective in terms of prolonging recurrence.
Avatar n tn i. symptoms be a side effect of anastrozole (arimidex)? I have been taking it for 3 1/2 years, after 1 year on tamoxifen, following lumpectomy, chemo and radiation.
Avatar n tn I have been taking Anastrozole for about two and half years for stage 1 ER/PR positive breast cancer. About a year after I started taking the drug, I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes that is not particularly well controlled, even though I take two different prescriptions. A few months after that I was diagnosed with high cholesterol. For that I now take Lipitor, which has lowered the total cholesterol quite a bit.
Avatar f tn Is it an expensive medicine? Is your son having any side effects from the medicine at all? Thanks for the info. I appreciate you keeping me posted. My son seems to be growing a little but still not as much as you might expect. I hope to see a big growth spurt very soon.
17542556 tn?1457654206 m taking Anastrozole for the next 5 years and I hurt. Does anyone have any thoughts about the bone pain? Does it go away, get better or worse? Thank you for any help.
Avatar n tn It is of course her decision re whether lowering the risk in her case is worth enduring the side effects. If she does choose to take an AI and the side effects of Arimidex are intolerable, she could see if she would do better on a different one. However, in at least one recent study, Arimidex came out ahead of the others in preventing recurrence. Best wishes to both you and your wife...
Avatar n tn Have developed a heart rhythm disturbance, shortness of breath, edema of hands and legs/feet since being on Anastrozole. How worried should I be? Should I consider discontinuation discussions with my Dr.? This discussion is related to Can Arimidex Cause Skin Lesions?.
486867 tn?1307139011 Hi my DH has been on Clomid for almost 2 months. He just started having vision problems. For the last couple of weeks he's been seeing floaters in the right side of vision. I called my RE office a few days ago and they said for him to start taking every other day instead of everyday and well see if that helps. Does anyone know if this side effect is really bad or if it can cause long term damage?
1030058 tn?1252253572 I have now nearly completed 5 years of Arimidex, My Oncologist ir recommending that in October I change to Femara secondary to a clinical trial which has concluded that I am at some risk of the cancer still recurring. I am unsure about this as the side effects of the arimidex hot flashes, weight gain etc causing me to be on a high dose of Effexor are quite debilitating at times. What are my risks if I choose to just stop the Arimidex and not continue with a change to Femara...
Avatar n tn Well, for me Arimidex was so very horrible, I barely lasted three days on it. I was in an almost catatonic state of depression two hours after I took the first dose, and then got just about every other bad side effect soon after. Femara, in comparison, relative to the other, was not so bad at all and I lasted almost thirty days. But not every woman has the same problems, or any at all. Many though do have some problems.
Avatar f tn Honestly, if you have to fight with your DR over issues like this you may want to look for another. Life is too short to have to argue over side effects and treatment especially when it's effecting your quality of life. I'd stay on it though and get assistance with the side effects. I will say my side effects have lessened now. I take lexapro with mine and have some relief. Best wishes.
Avatar f tn I know this is used in breast cancer pts but what is it used for in ovca pts? My recent PET/CT scan did not show any recurrent disease.
Avatar n tn My husband developed squamous cell carcinoma 5 years ago. After 8 weeks of intensive radiation treatments, along with chemo, his behavior also changed. He doesn't remember things!! He also lost the use of his arms, his shoulder fell out of it's socket, he can not speak and can only eat thru a feeding tube. In the summer of 2009, after two years on home hospice, his tumors disappeared!!
Avatar m tn Now I am 26 unmarried, Please let me know do mastarbuation have done any side effects to my is my sexual stamina.
Avatar n tn I was wondering if anyone knew of any longer lasting side-effects of this drug (i.e. the blood vessels in the penis permanently widen to allow increased blood flow). I'm not concerned over my health but was wondering if Viagra does something to physically change something in the penis to allow harder and longer lasting erections and if so, does this have any long-term consequences.
Avatar f tn Yes-- and you are asking for trouble! Doses of tramadol in excess of 400 mg per day place the person at significant risk of grand mal seizures, which are incredibly inconvenient if they occur suddenly during a drive down the highway! Tramadol is not a benign medication, and neither is the acetominophen in 'tramacet'. You are playing with fire.
Avatar f tn im on anastrozole.
Avatar m tn I recently read that one of the side effects of circumcision is meatal stenosis and that uncircumcised men don't suffer from it. Is that correct? Also, would this side effect occur if a male had a frenoplasty? Do any of the other side effects of circumcision apply to a frenoplasty?
Avatar n tn It took a little while for my body to get used to it; I would say that after a couple of weeks, the side effects really dropped off and after about a month or so, I did not notice them at all. Medications can sometimes be a little hit and miss depending on the person, but I usually advise patience with this. Has your doctor prescribed you a benzo for short term use while you start Zoloft? Many times he/she will prescribe one to help with the anxiety...keep us posted!
Avatar f tn If you've had Hashimoto's for that long, have you also been on any replacement thyroid hormone medication? If so, what medication, dosage and for how long? Have you had Free T4 and Free T3 tested to determine actual thyroid hormone levels? If so, what are their results, with reference ranges? I've read that there's a connection between breast cancer and thyroid disease, but I'm not exactly sure what it is.
