Anastrozole and depression

Common Questions and Answers about Anastrozole and depression

arimidex

Avatar m tn I have seen lot of posts and spent hours on the forums wherever I found mention of advanced bone age/Anastrozole/Letrozole. It seems there are quite a few posts under Pediatric Endo forum but not able to find any answers if any parents tried Anastrozole/Letrozole and what has been their experience regarding delaying bone age and side effects. I will appreciate if any parent with experience of using Anastrozole for their kids may share their experience.
Avatar n tn I am 75 but always had lots energy before cancer treatments (lumpectomy, chemo, radiation and now Anastrozole for 5 yrs). What can I do to combat all these bad side effects while taking Anastrozole for 4 more years??????? Are there other women going thru these, same side effects with Anastrozole etc.? How do you cope? Please give me some feedback on this........
Avatar n tn Have developed a heart rhythm disturbance, shortness of breath, edema of hands and legs/feet since being on Anastrozole. How worried should I be? Should I consider discontinuation discussions with my Dr.? This discussion is related to Can Arimidex Cause Skin Lesions?.
Avatar f tn To evaluate the efficacy and toxicity of the selective aromatase inhibitor anastrozole (Arimidex), we conducted a phase II trial in 53 women with asymptomatic recurrent/persistent müllerian cancer. METHODS: Patients with ovarian, peritoneal, or fallopian tube carcinoma were eligible for enrollment. Eligible patients had an ECOG PS 90 days, 15% for >180 days, 7% for >270 days, and 4% for >360 days. One patient remained on anastrozole at 15 months.
Avatar f tn im on anastrozole.
Avatar m tn I have body aches, joint and muscle pain and trigger finger. I am 55 years of age and already have osteoporosis. I know that letrozole can also cause osteoporosis. My doctor has decided I only take letrozole every other day because of my side effects and osteoporosis. I hope this amount will still keep the cancer away. Any suggestions on someone taking it every other day.
Avatar f tn If you've had Hashimoto's for that long, have you also been on any replacement thyroid hormone medication? If so, what medication, dosage and for how long? Have you had Free T4 and Free T3 tested to determine actual thyroid hormone levels? If so, what are their results, with reference ranges? I've read that there's a connection between breast cancer and thyroid disease, but I'm not exactly sure what it is.
17542556 tn?1457654206 m taking Anastrozole for the next 5 years and I hurt. Does anyone have any thoughts about the bone pain? Does it go away, get better or worse? Thank you for any help.
Avatar f tn My son is 5'1" and has early puberty. We have decided to give him anastrozole and are going today to get all of his hormones tested. We are considering Lupron because he is going through puberty early to help delay everything. It is really scary to me too. I am giving liquid vitamins everyday to help give him vitamin D, etc.
Avatar f tn So maybe you could ask him whether your son does that and whether orgasm is achievable and anything at all comes out? If orgasm is possible, right afterwards he may obtain a urine sample and send it to laboratory for microscopic diagnostic to determine the presence of sperm in it. There is a condition called retrograde ejaculation, where seprm flows the wrong way- towards urinary bladder.
Avatar n tn I am almost your age and I had IDC like you..same stage and no lymph nodes involved.Arimidex was the preferred drug that my surgeon chose for me.The only side effect I had was that I felt a little depressed for a certain time, but now I am okay.If your oncologist prefers Arimidex for you,you can try it and if you can't tolerate it, then she can always switch it for another drug more suitable for you.Best wishes.
7028106 tn?1387217145 I received 4 treatments of Adriamycin and Cytoxan, then 12 treatments of Taxol, followed by 33 radiation treatments. I am currently taking Anastrozole. My ob/gyn wondered why they didn't want me to have a total or partial hysterectomy. Should I do this. Am I at high risk for cancer of the ovaries or uterus?
Avatar n tn As zouzi indicated, these two drugs are very similar in effectiveness, and there is some evidence that they both are superioir in some ways to a third AI, Aromisin: "December 14, 2009 (San Antonio, Texas) — New results coming from 2 mature trials with exemestane (Aromasin, Pfizer) suggest that this aromatase inhibitor differs slightly from the other 2 available products, letrozole (Femara, Novartis) and anastrozole (Arimidex, AstraZeneca).
Avatar f tn Hi there, Thank you for answering my question. No,she is not on chemo therapy, she's on Faslodex250 mg.shots,Anastrozole 1 mg,and medicine from the doctor for itching and dry skin, plus a cream or lotion they put on her alot. I compared medication she was on before this itching started and what she's on currently.....not much difference, just more pain meds, asprin, and breast cancer medicine.
Avatar n tn I have been taking Anastrozole for about two and half years for stage 1 ER/PR positive breast cancer. About a year after I started taking the drug, I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes that is not particularly well controlled, even though I take two different prescriptions. A few months after that I was diagnosed with high cholesterol. For that I now take Lipitor, which has lowered the total cholesterol quite a bit.
Avatar m tn I was 38 and premenstrual. Following surgery, chemo and radiotherapy had 5 years of zoladex and arimidex which finished in Aug 2013. My periods returned 10 months later but have been very irregular, cycles from 5 weeks to a 2 month and a 3 month cycle. I have had enormous problems with intermittent fatigue, muscle aches, painful breasts, mood wings (PMDD), hypertension. I was fatigued during the hormonal tx but the present fatigue does not improve with rest.
1030058 tn?1252253572 (beyond the initial 5 years) is with letrozole (Femara) after 5 years of tamoxifen. Letrozole and anastrozole (Arimidex) are both aromatase inhibitors and are very similar to one another. In most of the adjuvant studies using these drugs, 5 years of treatment has been given. An ongoing study will compare 5 to 10 years of aromatase inhibitors but there are no results available yet on that study.
408958 tn?1214843583 I think i can promisse u its gonna get better , 2 weeks after my first tx i was amazed over the big differens in mood thoughts and everything. Like someone else pointed out.
Avatar n tn She is scared not to take the drug because of the presentation by the oncologist (who was very objective) which showed results of studies that are not specific to her elected surgery and pathology results. So my wife feels obligated to her family and herself to take the medication to prevent cancer from reoccuring which could cause her early and preventable death. Can we get better advice based on some information that specifically applies?
Avatar f tn I had terrible shoulder pain for about 2 years with Major Depression, and after caving in and finally taking anti-depressants, my only complaint is that I didn't start 1 year and 11 months sooner than I did! It also took away all of my shoulder/back pain. Now it is only sore after I exercise, which is normal and good. :) Good luck, and for your sake I hope it helps!

Avatar m tn Depression affect all of us at some stage in our lives and is nothing to be ashamed of.It happens to the best of us and often goes hand in hand with other conditions, but there are excellent medications that can help with depression. You and hubby should have a chat to your doctor.
2064754 tn?1333375663 There are different types and classes of medication that people are prescribed for anxiety and depression. There are faster actiing meds like Xanax and Ativan that are used on an as needed basis and are usually prescribed more short term and then there are medications like Zoloft and Prozac (SSRIs) that are prescribed more long term and taken on a regular basis. While these are only two types, there are also multiple other classes of medications that are used in the treatment of both.
2011699 tn?1328933353 told I was in aperiod where I would benefit treatment RIGHT AWAY,verses waiting~UNTIL I brought up the fact I was concerned about my depression issues and how severe my depression was off meds~Than the Dr. did a complete 180 and told me I should wait 3 months!!?
