i had a tempory filling do about 2 mouth ago and in the last week ive been in a lot of pain not being aball to sleep so webt to my dentist and they said that my fillin was still intack and didnt look like i had and infection as my teeth didnt hurt but they gave me 250mg of amoxicillin to take one three times a day for 5 days but on the second day i woke up wth sowen lower jaw and in a lot of pain with the tooth i had my fillen i have a constant pain in my jaw with a throbbing pain from my tooth
So does this mean it can't be dangerous to my health? Does there have to be an absecess on the x ray to make a toothache dangerous? I was also wondering what I should do about it, the dentist said he'd have to put a crown on it next, but there's really no way I can afford that, especially when I have such little faith in that my pain would go away if he drilled it again. If I just got the stupid tooth pulled once and for all, would that put me out of my misery?
Hi I'm 8+4 today. I'm having severe toothache from day b4 yesterday . It's my wisdom tooth ,left lower jaw n the tooth is totally decayed n extraction is the only thing to do.Dentist prescribed amoxicillin n paracetamol 650mg for the pain . Said that tooth extraction will be done only after delivery . But I'm in so much pain even after taking medicines. Is there no safe anesthesia that can be used on me during extraction ?
I am on antibiotics for an infection that is causing a horrible toothache. I was also given viccoden for the pain. It really is a bad pulsating aching pain. This was 3 days before I found out that I am pregnant. Now 7w 1d I don't know what I can take for the pain.
Yeah I am currently on amoxicillin (antibiotics) and they have not helped at all with the pain. The ONLY thing that has helped so far is using listerine but that only helps for like 1 minute max. I am finding myself, a grown man, crying at night now.
I am 32 weeks pregnant with my 1st child and sadly I have a terrible toothache which I am going to get dealt with in a bit. I tried Orajel, cold water, warm water, compresses - you name it and nothing helped, some things made it alot worse. This morning it was so bad that I ended up searching online for home remedies out of desperation and found several articles about BAKING SODA. Yes Arm & Hammer Baking Soda. I was so desperate I tried it.
Six months ago i had a pretty bad old filling removed (along with part of my tooth) and replaced. At the time it caused some pain, i was prescribed Amoxicillin and all was fine. Now over the past couple of weeks I've been getting an intermittent toothache. I returned to the dentists 10 days ago and he couldn't see any problems but took an x-ray and prescribed Amoxicillin and asked me to return a week later.
Usually if you tell your doctor they send you to the dentist. You can take an antibiotic like amoxicillin if you've got it and Tylenol.
appointment just to get antibiotic, and they told me to see a dentist, and didn't give me an appt. I was so desperate I went to the ER, and was given 875 mg amoxicillin 2x a day for 10 days., along with tramadol for pain control. Well, the tramadol doesn't help what so ever, makes me have an upset stomach. I completed the cycle of amox., and I was feeling good for about 3 days. Last night I woke up and had yet another sleepless night due to pain. What can I do? All I can do is cry and wait.
The xray showed no canal in the root probably because of WBC and crud from the infection. Monday the dentist ordered Amoxicillin which seems to help and then surprise the pain is back tonight. Thursday night I didn't have to take any hydrocodone to sleep. Tonight after dinner, my tooth ache is back. He is so iffy about treatment of this tooth, that I'm frustrated about the delay. I called Linda this morning and have another appointment Monday at 3 pm.
I HAVE THE START OF A TOOTHACHE. I CANT AFFORD DENTIST APPT AT THIS TIME. MY HUSBAND HAD A TOOTHACHE MONTHS AGO AND THEY GAVE HIM AMOXICLLIN. THEY ENDED UP PULLING THE TOOTH SO HE DID NOT TAKE ALL THE MEDICATION. IT IS 500 MG. WAS WONDERING IF THAT IS TOO HIGH OF A DOSAGE FOR ME TO TAKE?
Hi, two things...
The common presenting complaints are severe toothache, breath odour, fever, pain when chewing, sensitivity to hot or cold, swelling of gums, swollen glands etc. It can be diagnosed with the help of clinical examination, dental x-rays and other tests. Antibiotics are given for the infection. Warm salt-water rinses and over-the-counter pain relievers may relieve the toothache and fever. A root canal may be recommended in an attempt to save the tooth.
I am afraid of dentists (long but valid story). I had an intense toothache caused by a broken tooth (half the tooth remains the broken area is at the gum line) and was gradually preparing to visit a dentist. but then i suffered a sudden and intense ear infection. I went to the er and received several iv's of antibiotics and was given a script for 1000 mg of amoxicillin per day (4 doses of 250) for 3 weeks.
I been having a toothache & I think I already have an infection because now the pain has gone too my ear. Whats thee best and safest antibiotics to take ? My dentist had prescribed me amoxicillin but when I called my doctor the nurse said that it was too strong for me too take.

Before that im experiencing headache and toothache. Before i thought it was a migraine because when it hurts i drink cold water or soda or eat cold foods. Then there was 1 time i was pissed off with the everyday pain i went to the clinic of our office and ask for a medicine for colds. The nurse gave me the medicine i need (neozep non drowze) Afterwards i suddenly felt relieved. I was thinking that it was about my sinus the after a day i felt not so well.
Ok, so like I went to the dentist last tuesday, he said i had a really deep, bad infection in a back, lower molar and put me on antibiotics(amoxicillin) and extracted the tooth the next day. I have also had a slightly swollen thyroid for about 4 weeks and my throat has felt kind of fiery and hot on and off and i've felt weak and tired on and off as well.

I apparently had told them funny reaction to amoxicillian but could take augmentin..so they ordered augmentin.(I should write down..at 72 memory loss) One Augmentin pill & I threw up for 12 hours finishing at 3 AM this morning! Suppositories Fam Dr called in helped...
Crush a tylenol into powder and pack it into the hole (if you have one)sometimes it works really fast! I would rather give birth than have a bad toothache, its hell!
Over-the-counter pain relievers may relieve the toothache and fever. Prompt treatment can save the tooth and a root canal may be recommended in an attempt to save the tooth. Untreated abscesses may get worse and can lead to life-threatening complications.
Motrin is the best thing for a toothache. I wouldnt take any narcotics. You will only awaken the beast that is in your head. Doesnt matter if it isnt your DOC, an opiate is an opiate. Try a warm washcloth on your face too.......sometimes that will help a bit.
After being on 3 Advils every 6 hours for couple of days, I called and went back to see the dr who said the temps were slightly high on one side. He took care of that and prescribed Amoxicillin incase there was infection going on, although he didn't think so. He said I may have to get root canal done, but that it is possible to develop sensitivity to novacain even if I've never had any problem with it before, and to wait and see.
So you may want to see if you can at least get your doctor or old dentist to call in an RX for amoxicillin (its 4$ generic) so you dont get a bad toothache. Good luck to you.
Also, one more thing. It just so happens that I am currently on medication for a toothache which I know can be used to treat gonorrhea. I am halfway through a 7-day treatment of Amoxicillin (500mg TID). Would this prevent any gonorrhea infection and/or chlamydia infection? Thanks.
My finace went to the dentist after toothache. His first appointment was 26th of June - the dentist told him that the tooth was dead and he needed a root canal to be done. I am not sure what he did that time but the roots were cleaned and a temporaly paste was inserted. The dentist was surpriced that he had only felt the tooth ache for a couple of days and after the first appointment there was no pain or uncomfort.
I have had frequent sinus infections for the past 10 years. I often experience some pain & pressure in my upper teeth, but never enough to prevent me from chewing, etc... Three weeks ago I developed yet another sinus infection & the most INTENSE tooth pain I have ever felt. It seemed to be especially bad in a tooth that actually has had a root canal. I take three Vicodin a day for my fibromyalgia, but they did not even begin to touch the pain.
) He prescribed amoxicillin 500mg tid. But, they forgot to call it into the pharmacy, so I'll get it today. This tooth was filled last fall and it was a large, deep filling. It had started to discolor prior to filling. It has always been a little sensitive, but nothing like this. He is recommending that if my pain doesn't go away in 24 hrs after ab's, then he wants to open it up and look for the fracture.
Hi, on Feb 15, I had swollen node on my right neck, headaches, fatigue, and a swollen spleen. They originally diagnosed me with acute Sinusitis and prescribed me Amoxicillin. This cured my headache temporarily. I am unsure if this was properly diagnosed however. After a week or so, I had a terrible sore throat. And I searched online and figured I had mono. They tested me, and I ended up positive for mono. I broke out in rashes a few days later due to the -cillin antiobiotics I was taking.
