I have a kidney infection and in on keflex anti biotic. If they prescribed anti biotic its BC its important, kidney infection can cause pre term labor and it was complicating my pregnancy. I'm 21 weeks out of my first trimester though, if u were really worried u can call you're dr and ask about the risks.
I just read your question about the possible allergic reaction to Keflex. I had previously taken Keflex for mononucleosis at the age of 18 and and other things during my early 20's and never had a problem. A few years later when i was 28 I took it again. I had a terrible reaction. I had very large raised hives that started on the tops of my thighs, inside my arms and up my neck. My eyes were swollen and breathing became a task. I double dosed benendryl and went to ER.
My bf was diagnosed with ngu and I want to know is taking one of the following ok for treatment .....bactrim ,keflex, or amoxicillin? The reason for this question is he won't be able to make it to the doctors for the z pack this week but he has these antibiotics available. And if so what would his dosage length of treatment be ?

In the middle of July I took my son to urgent care for a huge red area on his neck. The doctor could see a bite mark, said it was either a tick or spider bite. I was diagnosed with a bacterial ear infection in Nov 2011 which the Dr said had spread to my throat, and was given a seven day course of cephalexin (keflex). The throat instantly felt better but the ear infection appeared to spread from the left ear to my right ear (fullness, popping, pain). Went to the doctor and he tested me for strept and mono and tests came back negative. Well he put me on keflex (250mg twice a day for 10 days) totaling 5000mg course. My concern is that I got syphilis has well as hsv2 that same encounter but the keflex cured my syphilis but I gave it to my girlfriend before I was cured. Will that low of a dose keflex cure syphilis? I also had a full test 1 1/2 months post keflex and everything was fine except hsv2.

Hi, i started my a dose of Keflex last week, and a couple of days into it, my penis started to really itch, on the underside of the head of the penis, and now also seems red and puffy.
I did have unprotected sex about a week before i started the medication, and was wondering if it could be side effects to the Keflex, Or if i have caught a STD?
I started feeling very dizzy after taking 500 mg Keflex four times a day for six days to treat a skin infection. I developed the low grade fever on the seventh day. I haven't felt as dizzy since I've been off the Keflex but the fever still makes me slightly tired.
Is this something I should be worried about?
I identified it and went in very quickly. The doctor on call took a culture and put me on Keflex. I went in for a follow-up with my regular doctor (who performed the surgery). The test results were only partially in and showed that it was Staph, resistant to penicillin, but not some other antibiotics. It's not MRSA. She told me the bacteria was susceptible to the Keflex and to Cipro, for which she wrote me a scrip to take when the 7 days of Keflex was gone.
A few days ago my right ear started feeling a little full. A day or so later I was feeling draggy and like I was coming down with something. Mind you I told her I do not feel sick in any way told her that and right off the bat she orders an antiobiotic KNOWING I get severe reactions from it. I am allergic to penicillin ,sulpha, erithomyicin , keflex and cipro. She said she wanted me to take 500mg of Amoxicillin. t urinate well and the tip was extremely painful. Could it be Chlamydial Urethrtis? Over 1 month Later? They put me on Keflex because they think it seems to be a skin infection. I need to make sure but these Doctors at Kaiser are Useless. They have mis-diagnosed me before. If I do have Clyamydial Urethritis, will Keflex even help the issue?
