My cat had an abscess on his back - which I have enough experience with to treat myself. I have owned cats for 30 years. I have been able to clear and heal the wound and have been dosing him with amoxicillin. He seems to have an allergy to this antibiotic as I have discovered hes been throwing up in the basement. This is the usual drug I use to treat abscess-type infections and I want to make sure the interior infection clears up.

Was it in liquid form? My cats do this when I have to squirt it in their mouths. I think it's just the saliva. They usually don't like the liquid medication. I always ask for pill form. If you see that your cat is having trouble breathing or looks like it's face is swollen then you need to get it in right away to an ER vet so that they can give it a benadryl shot and monitor your cat. Don't wait if you truly think it's an allergic reaction. Watch and see how he/she is acting.
The spot is in the middle between her toes. I have 4 cats and something is always wrong so im always putting money into the vet. I have alot of amoxicillan. I no i probably shouldnt give it to her because its 4 months old I did give a little pain pill. Is there anything that i can do to help her without taking her to the vet?
It ended up opening up and I kept it clean and treated and it healed with in a week or so. I didnt really think much of it until it appeared again a few weeks ago.
The thing is this time along with the one large "bump" with in a few days he had developed at least 10 more small bumps on his skin. They dont bother him and they appear to be cyst like. I cannot tell if they are going down or not.
Does anyone know how to or what the ratio would be to take capsules of amoxicillin and other antibiotics and mix with water to administer to kitties?
Can you open a capsule with amoxicillin or ciproflaxin and mix water with it and give it to a kitty with an upper respiratory. Or can you sprinkle it on some canned food?
my cats had kittens about 3 weeks ago and they now have their eyes open. but i have this one kitten and his/her eyes puss so much that it hardens and pervents him/her by seeing because it closes her eyes shut. i think he/she is too young to use medicine on but im not sure what to use even if i could. any advice??

but alot of care must be taken when using meds for cats....is it amoxicillin you have? just incase I am sending you the site and the recommended dosage for cats, if you don't have enough to use for the recommended time week-10days than it will just cause a suspected infection to grow even stronger and possibly antibiotic resistant. so if you are going to do this you must have a good supply. or please take this kitty in where it can be cared for and not suffer.

The vets don’t recommend to give cats, humans antibiotics, as some may not be suitable for them, however, they are some human antibiotics that can be used in cats, like Amoxicillin, but you need the right doses or else it can lead to overdose.
s nothing for me to find ticks on my outside cats. In the middle of July I took my son to urgent care for a huge red area on his neck. The doctor could see a bite mark, said it was either a tick or spider bite. She ordered amoxicillin for a week which cleared it right up and he was fine for about a month. At the end of August he started with vague complaints, headache abdominal pain achy muscles. Then he started with a swollen lymph node in his groin severe abdominal pain and high fevers.
The dose for amoxicillin is 62.5 mg per cat twice per day. Amoxicillin is a form of penicillin. A 20 pound cat is really equivalent to two average sized cats so I think that you could safely increase the dose to 75mg twice daily. 50mg of penicillin twice daily is under dosing for any cat. Please try and actually weigh him to be sure or his most recent weight since he may have lost weight since the incident.
He probably has not defecated as yet since he is not consuming much food.
can you take amoxicillin if it exspired in january of 2009, i dont have insurance and had a few left over from my teeth and need to take them if i can. could someone please help me with this?
By the way green stool in babies is almost normal and it might be because of fast movement of the stool in the bowel that it has no enough time to turn brown. Stools in origin are geen because of the bile secreted in it but in the bowel it turns brown. So it might be because he didnt eat enough the past days but be careful that he has no diarrhea. and if this persist u may contact his doctor.
