The dentist first prescribed amoxicillin for the infection. It has been over ten days, and I have pain and swelling in my lower cheek. Upon calling my dentist, I asked for a stronger antibotic (hence I have a tolerence of amoxicillin due to years of usage) he denied and let me know I needed to have tooth immediately extracted or the infection would spread. I do not have the funds currently this week to get it extracted. I have a prescription for amoxicillin that I have not used.
My lower left wisdom tooth is infected. I am scheduled to get it extracted in a week from tomorrow. I first went to the dentist three weeks ago and he prescribed me amoxicillin, which I took and the pain and swelling went away. I then went to the oral surgeon a week later for a consultation. He said I had bone loss near the wisdom tooth from the infection, which scared me. He told me to wait to take another dose of amoxicillin until the day before the extraction.
I had a failing dental implant pulled (a tooth on a metal screw) they gave me amoxicillin to take for a few days and I rinsed with warm salt water till day 3 then religiously used mouth wash twice a day. It's been 2 months and I'm 100% fine.
Did they give you a temp tooth?
About two weeks ago I went to the dentist as I had terrible pain in my front tooth and gums. I was put on ponstan for pain and amoxicillin for the infection for five days. After the five days my tooth and gums felt fine but then a couple of days later the pain in my tooth flared up again. I'm afraid that my tooth may be infected and I will have to get root canal done which can be quite expensive. Is there anyone here that can confirm if the infection has spread to my tooth.
He did not see anything wrong. But, on physical exam of the wisdom tooth, thought he found crack in tooth, below gumline. He said that's probably why infection keeps coming back, bacteria is constantly getting into gum.
So, oral surg Rx'd more Amoxicillin, will Extract in a week.
Went fine, with no drugs. He didn't tell me if tooth was in fact cracked, and I did not ask.
Check Up- no dry socket, instructed how to rinse area with syringe with Rx rinse.

Ok, so like I went to the dentist last tuesday, he said i had a really deep, bad infection in a back, lower molar and put me on antibiotics(amoxicillin) and extracted the tooth the next day. I have also had a slightly swollen thyroid for about 4 weeks and my throat has felt kind of fiery and hot on and off and i've felt weak and tired on and off as well.
In my opinion, the tiredness is probably related to this persistent infection and the anitbiotic.
Are you following up with an ENT Specialist and/or an Allergist for this chronic/persistent sinus infection? This problem could also be allergy-related.
This past Wednesday I had to have a tooth pulled due to it having an infected abscess pressing on the nerve (super painful!), and I was given amoxicillin to fight the rest of the infection. Well, being pregnant, they didn't prescribe any type of pain meds, which I'm fine with, but to add to dealing with the pain, the amoxicillin gave me a yeast infection! So here I am, 30 weeks pregnant, mouth still aching, and a yeast infection to top it all off. This has not been my week at all!
He did say my sinus cavity is very close to that tooth and I could have some inflammation from my sinuses that is bothering the tooth. He called in amoxicillin for me. I just started it tonight. The tooth is killing me. I have never heard of sinuses causing issues with ONE tooth. Is that possible?
Hi i started with really bad tooth pain and went to the emergency dentist who said its infected and got an abscess. They give me amoxicillin 500mg i started them yesterday teatime then last night my face started to swell up on the right side where the bad tooth is never had this before. Now i look like an hamster what i want to know is how long will it take for the tablets to work i have taken 4 so far. Also most of the pain as gone but still really soar.
He saw a doctor and strep throat and mono were ruled out as a cause. The doctor prescribed Amoxicillin 3 times a day for 10 days. He felt fine after a couple of days and all was well. But about two weeks later the same symptoms returned (w/ a fever of 101.6) and the doctors ruled out strep and mono once again and put him on the same medication regimen. Could his symptoms possibly stem from a tooth abscess?? If not a tooth abscess what else do you think could be causing his symptoms?
So I went to a Doctor on Friday, who said I have sinusitis and bronchitis, plus he said my lower right gums were obviously infected to him. He put me on Amoxicillin and told me to contact my dentist on Monday. The Amoxicillin is helping, the swelling on the outside is already gone down, only on the gum itself is swollen. Anyway I got into the health industry and I realised It was a very bad idea to have an infection Like that. It started to play up and I felt a really hard lump directly underneath it.
But then after that I started to have toothache after that. Severe toothache on my wisdom tooth that I endured for 3 days until I gave up and went to see a dentist last Friday Sept. 30. My third molar/wisdom tooth was cracked. It needed to be taken out or it would be too late bec sooner it later I wouldn't be able to open my mouth wide for the procedure. So for more than an hour I was their struggling in pain.
