Amoxicillin for cats dosage

Common Questions and Answers about Amoxicillin for cats dosage

amoxil

I dont know about an alternative to amoxicillin but maybe you could give your cat a gastric protector previously to that. One of my cats had the same problem once with sulpha _ now I not only avoid liquid medicine but also got the vet to agree in me using those pills about half hour before.
I have a new prescription of Amoxicillin 500ml that was for my 17 yr old daughter for a potential sinus infection. I know I can give human Amoxicillin to cats but I am uncertain as to how much from the capsule I should sprinkle on his food and how often. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. =^.
I know you are trying your best and I give you tons of credit for that...but alot of care must be taken when using meds for cats....is it amoxicillin you have? just incase I am sending you the site and the recommended dosage for cats, if you don't have enough to use for the recommended time week-10days than it will just cause a suspected infection to grow even stronger and possibly antibiotic resistant. so if you are going to do this you must have a good supply.
Try to make this brief as possible.. Took my cat to vet a few weeks back due to her drinking excessive amounts of water and noticed her urine smelled stronger of ammonia.. UA showed no bacteria, and no, a culture was not sent in.Vet then suggested a thyroid profile and called the next day to say it was "normal", as was her blood glucose level of 101. Vet then suggested a 10 day round of Amoxi-drops as she thought perhaps my cat may be trying to fight off a bladder infection.
Amoxicillin is a safe cat antibiotic. the dosage is generally 1 milligram per pound. If it doesn't seem to be working you can double the dose for one or two administrations until there're signs of improvement. Don't give your cat aspirin. It's very dangerous and generally should only be administered by an expert. If the cat is running a fever in the 104 range (102 is normal high range) then you can risk it...but it is a risk.
Hello, I have a cat who has sense the day we rescued him been sneezing and at points discharging, for a lack of better words, snot balls on the walls. We have taken him to the vet and have received a medication that did not work after completing the full bottle. I don't recall the name of this medicine. My question is, are there any over-the-counter medications that we can give this poor cat so we don't have to pay 50$ over and over again to visit the Vet.
My headache medication, Imitrex (100mg dosage) and Cyclobenzaprine (10mg dosage) has not been successful in completely relieving the pain, and I am having problems sleeping because being horizontal seems to make the neck pain worse. The Urgent Treatment Center physician I saw last Saturday prescribed amoxicillin, which I am currently taking, in case I had a sinus infection.
Thanks so much for your input. The adult cat that we've been dosing has been eating & drinking and walking well. We are continuing to dose him each day and it does seem to be helping more each time. So far, none of the other critters appear to be infected. Do you know if this is feline leukemia, can it affect our dog? We do have a vet, but due to expenses we generally vaccinate & treat the cats ourselves.
I was on Augmentin for a cat bite that I suffered at work. I only took 3 doses (dosage was 1 tablet every 8 hours). The amoxicillin in it started to bother me, so I discontinued the antibiotic. The bite was more like a scratch and was being used "just in case". In any case, I waited about 48 hours before I had sex with my boyfriend. I have been on Ortho tri cyclen lo for about 4.5 years and have taken my pill religously every night at the same time.
A human doctor might be able to do it, because a jaw joint is a jaw joint, but as far as anesthetizing the cat first, I don't know if a human doc would know the correct dosage to give something as small as a cat. I am hesitant to post the method for realigning the jaw because I don't want anyone to try anything that might do more harm than good, so for that reason, I am not going into detail as to how to realign the jaw.
We took him to the vet then and they put him on antibiotics and something for a fever/inflammation. They told us he had an upper and lower respiratory infection. We have 6 cats and two of them seemed to get sick as well and one round of antibiotics worked. Charlie was still sick in the beginning of January and the vet put him on amoxicillin and said he should be better in 2 weeks and that they no longer heard anything in his lungs and he no longer had a fever.
he said my dog had a small fever about 101 and gave me amoxicillin. after about a day i saw some improvement.about 2 days later he started to relapse.when i brought him back to the vet he gave him an iv with fluids and a pain killer and gave me a new medicine called predisolone 5ml. again he showed some improvement but this too only lasted for a few days.
I have had everything you mentioned, except for loss of voice. Always the felling of something in my throat. Have had the thyroid test ,CT scan and everything else you mentioned. Even had an endoscopy. They found nothing wrong with me. I do the saline rinse about every two to three days helps for a while. If you find any solution. Please post.
-insomnia (he didn’t sleep at all) -had to settle for a liquid for his mouth to heal, but then began to lose his appetite completely… when he did try to eat, he made facial expressions that made it seem as though its flavor was unpleasant, but this could be due to the sores -grew paranoid over his health and insisted on getting multiple tests done, but tests showed no unusual results Next Day: -he had lost 9 lbs since surgery.
Originally prescribed Keflex, but I had an allergy to amoxicillin 1 year ago--1 hive and some facial swelling--post dental surgery. At that time, I was put on prednisone and amoxicillin post an extraction--per the oral surgeon -"it was routine". I am otherwise healthy. I have an infected hair follicle and Doc ordered Keflex--however 2% risk of cross allergy (amoxicillin) so he just called to say he was switching it to Levaquin.
I resumed oral abx and my shots last August after 2 1/2 months off. In December, I switched from shots to high dose oral amoxicillin. As I slowly ramped up the dose, I could feel the effects. My stomach started to hurt (all the time), I had bloating and gas, and my sense of taste declined again. As I hit a particular dosage, I felt the brain fog get a notch worse. Bleh. I found I just couldn't tolerate the 4000mg and have dropped to 3000mg a day.
The next bloodwork I had done was to check to see if I had something called Cat Scratch Disease. Apparently, cats may have a certain bacteria living underneath their claws that does not harm them, but when they scratch a person with their bacteria-infested claws, the person can become ill, and apparently can present with the symptoms I had. I knew for a fact that none of my cats had scratched me, but my doctor wanted to check for it since I owned cats.
Caught lyme in first trimester and only got diagnosed a month ago and have been on amoxicillin now since diagnosed and will be until the birth of baby. I am aware that I fall into all 'unfavourable ' outcomes in regards to pregnancy outcome but I feel I need some kind of hope to hold on to ! I know what the odds are and the case studies etc.. And I have prepared myself for a congenital lyme baby but am I completely doomed?
After it dies down, my throat is sore, so I really try to avoid confrontation with people. I even found myself chasing my cat and dog around, to get them out of the kitchen, one night, when I just wanted to go to sleep, with-out having to wait for them to eat, and go out in the yard. I have managed the last 8 weeks, without any meds, for moods,or sleeping, etc.
We might just make it, Thank God for my prayers, I gave amoxicillin and pectin last night on my own, and today, we are eating very good, shes stimulated enough to walk, we even walked outside to pee...Oh, my gosh, I have held her, caress, love, keep her calm, talk, its crazy, for days I tried to keep her alive w/me...and I am so proud today, not sure about any damage or relapse could happen... She will never get another rabie or vaccination period, ever, ever in her lifetime.
) - then Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo - now Yasmin serious monogamous boyfriend of 6 years negative for herpes I have cats, but I've also not had cats and gotten them - don't think related live in NYC, have stressful but typical office job wear cute cotton breathable underwear - stopped wearing the thongs - made it worse! love yoga and pilates I'm so happy to have found this forum and hope we can keep this up til we figure this out! I just don't see how you felt better and all your labs (other than TSH) improved significantly when you were on none or very low T4 dosage and higher T3 dosage. So go with that trend.
He was 2 or 3 wks into treatment when he developed chest pain. He has had a CAT scan, revealing a mass of some kind which may or may not be an infection, has completed a course of antibiotics, but the pain has now moved to the other side of his chest too. Still, he does feel better and is back at work. His hep C dr has terminated treatment for the time being, and he goes back to the pulmonary dr tomorrow.
Serious vitamin B12 deficiency may result in anemia, stomach problems, and nerve damage. Dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Injections may be given daily when you first start treatment. Certain medical conditions (e.g., pernicious anemia) may require you to continue receiving injections every month. Pain/redness at the injection site, mild diarrhea, itching, or a feeling of swelling all over the body may occur.
The testing came back where I had tested positive for Lyme (Borrelia Bergdorferii bacteria) disease AND Bartonella (Cat-scratch fever bacteria.). I went back to my reg doc. and he tested me for Lyme Dz by way of urine....AND a PCR based blood test which bot hcame back 100% clean from anything resembling Lyme bacteria. I told the new Dr. about these tests and showed him copies of the results. He looked at 'em an laughed. HARD.
There are two herbals that in combination have shown effectiveness against Lyme. They are Samento and Banderol. Samento is a name brand that is rather expensive. It is a form of Cat's Claw extract. I read an article about someone who examined both regular Cat's Claw and Samento and concluded that you just need more of the regular Cat's Claw to equal the effectiveness of the Samento. I bought a cheaper brand of Cat's Claw, followed the label, and it did help.
