My doctor put me on amoxicillin for 7 days because of small infection. Is it okay to be taking this while I'm pregnant.?
it's safe.
I was prescribed amoxicillin and I have asked my dr. and they said it was totally safe. I am 18 weeks pregnant and I was prescribed amoxicillin for a sinus infection. It is safe!!!!
I was diagnosed with a UTI, then given amoxicillin to help. I have been taking the prescription for four days. yesterday I noticed that I had white lines on the back of my throat, and discomfort. one side effect is irritation of the throat and mouth. could this be what I am experiencing? I was told that it could be strep, but since I am taking amoxicillin, I wouldn't get strep. also, the lines aren't on my tonsils.
My baby is 11 months old. He was on amoxicillin for an ear infection for 7 days. He got a spotty rash all over his body yesterday and today it is everywhere. He is on XYZAL and Zyrtec. How long should this last for? How long will he be itchy for?

thing, and I could use some advice. I have always had problems with amoxicillin and yeast infections. And, I can't tolerate doxy, so the doctor put me on amoxycillin (900mg 2x/day) and I'm supposed to add probenecid (a drug that increases orally taken amox levels in the blood to nearly intravenous levels) starting next week. Here's the deal--the yeast infection started three days ago--ugh.
with my LLMD and he said that he has treated 30 pregnancies and 0 babies tested positive with cord blood PCR after birth. I am to take Amoxicillin and Zith starting in my second trimester thru my third. I hope my OB doesn't freak, although he said he's had none that did. So, I'll have my baby tested via cord blood PCR as well. Wish me luck!
I took amoxicillian while pregnant, had checked with the pharmascist first and was told it was fine. Super sally is right, don't ignore the infection, it needs to be dealt with. I am not sure about penicillian, but I know for certain amoxicillian is fine. Just ask that pharmascist, they are the experts on drugs. Good luck, hope you feel better soon.
I'm 8 weeks pregnant and got strep throat for the 4th time since finding out I'm pregnant. I woke up this morning with a sore throat and by tonight there was white spots all over my tonsils. I woke up an hour ago and now they are totally covered in that yucky white stuff. I've been given amoxicillin 500 every time and it works, and I take the full round till they are gone. A week or so after they are gone it comes back..
Amoxicillin is the right thing for a pregnant woman with Lyme. You cannot take Doxycycline when pregnant. I have heard many good stories of kids who got Lyme in utero who are doing great with antibiotics. Treatment makes all the difference. Planning to do the cord blood test is very wise. But if the baby tests negative, there is still a chance of infection. If s/he tests positive, then s/he will need amoxicillin. I have no idea for how long...are you aware of Dr. Jones in Connecticut?
Thanks for responding to my post... I actually have been tested and a mutation that was shown was a prothrombin gene mutation--- I don't know how it actually affects the body, but the doc said that it probably wouldn't be the cause of miscarriages...
My six month old has RSV! He was tested positive for it two days ago. He is not eating much at all and on amoxicillin. His fever is gone now but he is still breathing fast and still very raspy! The hospital told me that RSV would not affect his appetite it was because his nose was stuffed up???? How long does it usually take for his breathing to get better?? I always thought that most babies with RSV were hospitalized. Isnt there something else they could give him to improve his breathing.
I know it can't be good being on antibiotics all the time! I'm taking amoxicillin. They work the best for me and any antibiotic that I take when I have another infection it takes 10 days before I even feel better! If you have any suggestions that could help please let me know!
You sound like you are very sure of its danger but Ive read other posts where woman took it pregnant and their babies were fine. What makes you sure its so bad? Just for my own knowledge.
I cleaned it with peroxide, put some triple antibiotic ointment on and promptly started the kitten on Amoxicillin. My question is, I also have on hand Clindamycin which is what we normally use to treat abscesses and such but am fearful to give to the kitten since it is only apx 3-31/2 weeks old. I was just wondering how old do kitties have to be to use Clindamycin. TYVM for your help!
she was put on prednisone and amoxicillin. couch stopped 3 days into it for 2 days and then started back up. ran thru the medications and about a week after finishing them couch got worse. Did x rays they show donut rings in the lungs. So tried doing nebulizer with albuterol did nothing for 3 weeks 3 times a day. Did another dose of prednisone double the dose of last time a week in to it and she is getting worse.
it'll be 100.5 for a day, then normal for a day, etc. no other symptoms of anything. they took blood (high bands in the white cells, meaning she's fighting off an infection), chest xray (possible for pneumonia though with infants who cant take deep breaths on command, this is hard to determine), and urine culture (showed E.Coli). they had her on amoxicillin first, then when the culture showed E.
He got his Sentinal dose to take care of the hookworms, Albon for the coccidia, and some white liquid (forgetting the name) for the giardia (a 3 day treatment). It was not amoxicillin, I know that. He was fine until last night, sigh. I'm boiling chicken and rice as we speak. The vets secretary isn't sure if the vet will want to see him, or "just" see his poo, so I have to wait for her to call back.
All doctors say different things about different drugs during pregnancy so all anyone can really do is give their opinion on it. As for getting pregnant again right away it should be fine. I got pregnant within 6 weeks of my miscarriage and now my daughter is 3 months old. Having one miscarriage doesn't make it more likely that you'll have another and a lot of people don't see a heartbeat until around 8 weeks and because you saw one that makes the chance of miscarriage go down a lot.
Sorry to hear you're struggling. If you have plateaued in your treatment, it might be time to switch meds. For most of my treatment so far, I was on two meds at a time. My doc would switch them out when my improvement would slow or stop. I am finally down to one abx now after 13 months, a high dose amoxicillin. It sounds like you're doing the right thing in going to a new doc if your current one isn't doing the job.
Sometimes I was prescribed Progesterone, to help support the pregnancy. It would help my levels increase for a while, and then at or around the 12th week I would start bleeding. Then last year I got pregnant, but the only thing I had taken around that time was an antibiotic. Cannot remember what antibiotic it was, but I'm thinking it was Amoxicillin. I've only had 1-DNC and the Dr's told me after the other miscarriages, that they completed on their own.
He had been terribly distressed this past week but we have managed to get on top of his pain by using ibuprofren every 8 hours along with paracetamol (acetaminophen) and amoxicillin for the infection. He hates taking his medication and it takes patient coaxing to get him to comply so it does seem odd (compared with my own experience) that your daughter happily gulps her medicine down.
Hi, Thank you for your response and your congratulations. My last period was in Oct. 15 and ended in the 19. and I suppossed to get my period in Nov. the 15; therefore I wait three days in order to take the test. which it showed positive. Another concern is that I also feel a slight movement in the upper side of my stomach. It is most like a pulse. At first I thought that might be because my period was approaching.
I got her to eat a piece of hamburger (1 tsp) and 15 pieces of Bill Jac today and it all came back up 8 hours later when she drank some water. I'm hoping I don't have to make an EME run for her. She has an appt. for Monday but, I'm going to try to get her in earlier I think. Her urine output is nothing compared to what she is taking in and no bm for 4 days so I'm cringing at the thought of a partial blockage/blockage. She is 17 years old and God bless her still runs the rabbits.
It's good to hear that you caught the infection early -- I would say if you have further symptoms after treatment is completed, to go back to the docs for retesting and perhpas further treatment. Lyme can be difficult to stamp out sometimes, and vigilance is the key. Retreatment can be done, with hope for success the second time around. It's a good question you ask about pregnancy.
