Avatar n tn Hi there, Amoxicillin in the preferred antibiotic in dental infections. The usual adult dosage is 500 mg given every 6-8 hrly. The dosage may be increased or decreased depending on the severity of infection. If you are having a dental infection or cavity it is best to get it treated by a root canal before the problem aggravates. See a dentist. Take care and regards!
Avatar n tn Amoxicillin is fine if it's the correct antibiotic. Dental infections can be from either an aerobic bacteria or anaerobic bacteria. Having the correct antibiotic is VERY important. I urge you to at least call your dentist for approval before you treat a dental abscess yourself. Amoxicillin may be fine, but you may need something like clindamycin instead. Also, it's very important that a FULL dose is taken for dental infections.
Avatar f tn For some reason I get an ear infection with every pregnancy, lol. I have taken this with all 3 so far and have 3 perfectly healthy kids. This is #4 and I haven't had one yet but I still have 12 weeks left to change that, lol.
Avatar n tn In my opinion, the tiredness is probably related to this persistent infection and the anitbiotic. Are you following up with an ENT Specialist and/or an Allergist for this chronic/persistent sinus infection? This problem could also be allergy-related.
Avatar f tn Today I took my 15 month old son to one of his regular checkups. His doctor had noticed some fluid in his left ear and said he had a small infection. I told her he had a cold and some congestion but I didn't know about his ear. She prescribed him Amoxicillin for his ear and told me something about the dosage. All I remember her saying is something about 1 tsp.
Avatar m tn Dentists do not play around when knocking out an infection. And Amoxicillin is very commonly used at higher doses now (due to resistance). The clavulanate doesn't go up, just the amoxicillin). Check in with your doctor and report your stomach issue but in general, try the full glass of water and food. It most often does solve the problem of this particular compound.
Avatar f tn This is the usual drug I use to treat abscess-type infections and I want to make sure the interior infection clears up. Is there a good alternative to amoxicillin for this type of infection?
Avatar f tn You might ask your doctor for a broad-spectrum antibiotic, also known as a 'z-pack': this usually takes care of nearly everything in just a few days.
Avatar m tn I have been repeatedly prescribed amoxicillin to fight a bacterial infection. I had difficulty figuring out that I was having an allergic reaction to the amoxicillin because many of the symptoms (abdominal pain and swollen glands) were similar to the original infection and the more classis symptoms (tching and hives) didn't appear until after I had finished my third prescription. My question? Is amoxicillin less effective in fighting an infection if you are allergic to the antibiotic?
Avatar n tn I had sinus infection and got Amoxicillin for it. Had diarrhea, then a rash all over stomach, back, thighs, then yeast infection. I stopped taking the Amoxicillin and the doctor told my husband I was allergic to Penicillin. A week later I vomited several times and had cramping (like the stomach flu) and now my forehead has broken out with an itchy ***** rash like poison oak! Could the rash be associated with the Amoxicillin or the Sinus infection?
Avatar f tn So my LLMD has me on the following medications: Amoxicillin, Clindamycin, and Capadex (for my stomach problems). My dosage of the antibiotics are very high and I will be taking it for about 2 months. He believes I may H pyelori as well as Lymes because of my reoccurring ulcers. Avatar n tn A few months ago, half of one of my upper premolars broke off after biting into a granola bar. I must have had a cavity on that tooth for a long time but never realized it. There was no discomfort when the tooth broke and since I don't have dental insurance, I put off having i looked at. Fast forward to 2 nights ago I noticed a dull throbbing ache not on the tooth itself but on the gum all the way up near where the inner cheek meets the gumline.
Avatar f tn I just got done with a prescription for 875 mg of amoxicillin twice a day for 10 days. Will that cure chlamydia and gonorrhea??
Avatar f tn Hello, are you sure you are taking the right dosage of amoxicillin and it's frequency? Infections may re-occur if the correct dosage and frequency is not followed. Try to visit again your dentist to have a right assessment of the situation.
Avatar m tn I need to get rid of this peridontal infection but am just so scared to take such a high dosage at one time. The dentist is a peridontal specialists and says that it is ama standards. My body is different and I did not come out of a cookie cutter. Though everyone here reports no problems with amoxicillin we are all different. My doc says it is the safest antibiotic for me because it does not prolong the Q-t interval.
2095738 tn?1339825243 I'll be 33 weeks tomorrow and have had a double ear infection for over 2 weeks. I had them several times last year starting this time of year and always needed the super strength prescription with steroids. Because I'm pregnant, my doc is afraid to prescribe anything other than amoxicillin, but my ears have gotten so much worse. Has anyone been able to take anything different?
Avatar n tn If you suspect an upper respiratory infection, please take your fur baby to a vet. If this amoxicillin or ciproflaxin is human medication, do not give this to your cat as this is made for human consumption not for cats. Take your cat to a vet to be properly diagnosed and treated. Under no circumstances should you ever use human prescription meds on a cat.
Avatar f tn *Augmentin -- Standard Augmentin cannot exceed three tablets daily due to the clavulanate, thus is given with amoxicillin, so that the total dose of the amoxicillin component is as listed above for amoxicillin. This combination can be effective when Bb beta lactamase is felt to be significant. *Augmentin XR 1000 -- This is a time-release formulation and thus is a better choice than standard Augmentin. Dose -- 1000 mg q 8 h, to 2000 mg q 12 h based on blood levels.
Avatar f tn I don't disagree that if a vet happens to prescribe a medication that is taken by humans, that is fine. What I was worried about here is that the person does not say the amoxicillin was recommended by the vet, or that a vet has even seen the cat. Not only are doses an issue, but a vet would have to say what length of time the cat should be on the meds, and especially, whether the meds are even the right thing for the medical issue the cat has.
Avatar m tn I had to have a root canal redone as my previous dentist did not get the whole nerve and it became infected. The Dentist put me on amoxicillin 875mg twice a day, after 6 days I called him as it was having no effect. he then put me on clyndamycin 300mg twice a day, this is day two, it seemed better this morning and by this afternoon it isswelling slightly the tissue above my tooth is spongie again and I can tell it's filling with pus.
