I just got done with a prescription for 875 mg of amoxicillin twice a day for 10 days. Will that cure chlamydia and gonorrhea??
A couple of days after the occurance my friend (in medical school) gave me 3 Amoxicillin pills of 500mg. I took two one day and then another day took one. At about a week after exposure,, my friend gave me more of the same Amoxicillin 500mg pills. I took them every 8 hours until I ran out. I had 7 pills.
I am really worried about Stds. What was my risk from the exposure? Also, did the Amoxicilin do anything if I indeed had acquired an STD from that exposure? Am I at risk of HIV?
Amoxicillin is fine if it's the correct antibiotic. Dental infections can be from either an aerobic bacteria or anaerobic bacteria. Having the correct antibiotic is VERY important.
I urge you to at least call your dentist for approval before you treat a dental abscess yourself.
Amoxicillin may be fine, but you may need something like clindamycin instead.
Also, it's very important that a FULL dose is taken for dental infections.
When I was on the amoxicillin it was a 10 day dosage and I took it all. Also, the augmentin was a 10 day dosage. I am still having a lot of pain and can't figure out what's going on. :(

See a doctor after a week since the start of your amoxicillin to get other stds test. Amoxicillin might not be effective against gonorrhea anymore.
We’re the 4 day tests reliable for chylamadia and gonorrhea? Did the Amoxicilin kill Syphlilis if I had it? Is the discharge really discharge or is my mind playing tricks on me? Chlamydia is virtually never transmitted by oral sex, but even if it were, amoxicicllin is not reliably effective. There may have been risk for gonorrhea, but amoxicillin is not active against about half of all gonorrhea strains.
The risk of any STD from a single episode of oral sex is very low -- higher with some partners than others, but always low, and I would not have prescribed any antibiotic at all.

The problem with your taking amoxicillin at this time is that a substantial portion of gonorrhea are now resistant to amoxicillin and if you were going to take the amoxicillin you would need to take at least 3 grams, along with a second medication to boost the antibiotic levels in your blood. Amoxicillin is not an optimal antibiotic for most STDs an is no longer the recommeded therapy for any STD. Although many strains of gonorrhea are now resistant to amoxicillin I would anticipate that about 70-75% of gonorrhea would be cured by the amoxicillin you were prescribed as would most chlamydial infections. This dose you were prescribed would also certainly prevent syphilis.

Nonetheless, persons without symptoms can have gonorrhea and tests can be done in persons who do not have discharge. Further, the medicine the he gave you, amoxicillin, has not been recommended for gonorrhea treatment for over 25 years. Currently recommended therapy for gonorrhea is a single injection of ceftriaxone.
Your problem does not sound like an STI but again, I suggest you see another doctor.
But in that period she was taking amoxicillin, because she was sick. Can amoxicillin protect her against the infection? it is possible that i spread her the possible disease?

i was about to be cured from Gonorrhea but i skip some dosage of cephalexin, my problem now is i need to switch to CIPROFLOXACIN but i found out that it wasn't working for me some how im one of those patient's who were resistant to it according to the UPDATES on GONORRHEA RESISTANCE... should i go back to cephalexin? my dosage before was 500mg 3x a day...

So yesterday I went to the Dr for an ear infection and the Dr said it was pretty bad. He prescribed me amoxicillin 500mg 3 times a day for 10 days. He said it was safe but I am scared. I have called and left a message for my drs assistant. Waiting for a call back. Have any of you had to take this in this dossage?
OK, and there is no way the 3 doses of 500mg amoxicillin spread out over 24 hours could have cured gonorrhea if I had it? So the test this week should be accurate that I never had it at all (if negative)?

Amoxicillin in the preferred antibiotic in dental infections. The usual adult dosage is 500 mg given every 6-8 hrly.The dosage may be increased or decreased depending on the severity of infection. If you are having a dental infection or cavity it is best to get it treated by a root canal before the problem aggravates. See a dentist.

So that evening, I took 1000 mg amoxicillin. The next day (Monday) I was tested for several STDs and showed positive for HSV-1 only (no chlamydia or gonorrhea). 2 days later I read that I may have been tested too early. Since I couldn't wait around for ever before I had to have sex with my wife, On Thurday, I started taking doxycycline 100 mg 12 hours apart and amoxicillin 500 mg 3 times per day. On Monday, I was tested again and everything was negative.
