Amoxicillin and sun

Common Questions and Answers about Amoxicillin and sun

I have a medicine for my scalp since I have the bumps on my head but not bad, which has not been filled yet and one other medicine Im not sure of the name Im suppose to pick those two up tomorrow since they were unavailable at the time I dropped them off. And either use the tanning bed or go to the beach lay in the sun and swim in salt water afterwards, which Im not about to do in 30 degree weather!
Logic states he said, and I agree with him... if I have never had a blister rash like this before and the day after I take Amoxicillin and I get a severe blister rash all over my body... it therefore must be a very bad allergic reaction to the Amox. He said I have Vesicles and Pustules. Vesicles - are a small fluid-filled blister Pustules - are small, inflamed, pus-filled, blister-like lesions.
There are several components to sunlight which vary according to their wavelength, including visible light (400-700nm), UVA (315-400nm) and UVB (280-315nm) radiation; all emitted by the sun. People with ‘sun allergies’ can be sensitive to one or more of these wavelengths. There are certain conditions and diseases which cause photosensitivity from visible light, meaning certain houselights and even laptop screens can cause problems.
Is strenuous exercise contraindicated when taking amoxicillin? Also, is sun exposure a factor, and if so, how long after you complete the round of antibiotics should you wait before you are able to go back out in the sun?
My dentist prescribed antibiotics for the tooth extraction. I told him I am on interferon and he called my GI and checked with him first. I don't think there should be any issues. Both your dentist and doctor should know all your current medications and any invasive dental procedure you are planning.

It is important that you promply visit the doctor or clinic who prescribed the amoxicillin, because you need to know whether FDE is the explanation. If so, it means you are allergic to amoxicillin (and perhaps all penicillin-related antibiotics) and will need to avoid them in the future. And if it's not an FDE, you need professional assessment to learn the cause and get advice on treatment.
, For over the past two weeks, I have had a flat, red rash that appears like a sunburn on my face and particulary the neck. When I am in the sun or heat, it increases in itchiness and burning. A few days before the rash started, I had finished my second five-day course of 750mg Amoxicillin for dental work. Also, a few days (3 or 4) before the rash started, I had a very brief (3 seconds or so) unprotected oral sex exposure of which I was the recipient (I am male, received from female).
I came home with a few less vials of blood, since they will be testing for everything under the sun, and a 2wk Rx for prednisone and a 3 mo. Rx for Amoxicillin. I am a little leary of the Prednisone...but these lumps are annoying, and hopefully the whole will continue to heal.
i shouldnt really moan. i love the sun ,but the pills im taking for pluerisy im not allowed to sit in the sun or sunrays and its been so lovely out there its tempting.
I went to the doctor because my lymph nodes had been swollen for 8 days and the nurse practitioner prescribed be with amoxicillin for 10 days. I finished the amoxi this past Sun-Mon I believe. Yesterday evening I developed pink, hot and itchiness on both my arms and muscle pain/aching followed with it throughout the night. This morning I still have the same symptoms and have no idea why this may be happening now. Any idea?
My hair fell out in handfuls and it was awful. Long story short - amoxicillin and/or augmentin both worked wonders when the tetracyclines didn't do anything but harm. My hair shedding lessened within a week and is actually starting to grow back and in 10 days my skin was almost completely clear. Doctors NEVER want to admit when they may have made a mistake or when a different drug might help more, but it was a miracle for me. I hope my misery can help somebody.

One day it is on the right side affecting his hands and feet mostly, then the next day it is on the other side. Sparadically it become so severe he can't walk on that foot or write with that hand. He is on Clarinex and Allegra now due to the rash. It does help but occassionally that rash will reappear for a few hours then gone again. I am truly concerned about the joint pain, because it isn't minor, it is debilitating for him.
I've seen 2 doctors and 1 specialist, none have really told me anything and all tests always come back negative (I was tested for herpes as well.) Even the yeast cultures come back negative. I've been going to acupuncture for the last 2 months and the symptoms are decreasing, but at a very slow rate. I have taken Monistat, flagyl, cortizone (steroid) pills and cream and nothing has worked.
The dizziness resembled being carsick, with lightheadedness and occasional moments of nausea and feeling faint (but I never passed out). I had a CAT scan and blood work twice, and so far no diagnosis for the dizziness/fatigue. It got better for a few weeks but last week I began to have dizzy spells again, this time accompanied by maxillary sinus pressure. I had just switched allergy medications, from Nasonex to generic Flonase, right at the time my symptoms returned.
I was diagnosed with Mitral Valve Prolapse and anxiety and after a couple weeks of Xanax, regained my energy and went back to working out in the blistering Houston sun. I started having to wear sunglasses anytime I went out in the day and the heat, previously just a nuisance, started really dropping me, causing dizziness and weakness. Also started joint, tendon and back pain.
My question is since I overdosed on the Amoxicillin can it still be giving muscle pain for two months on and off or is it something else? ANd can amoxicillin mess with your liver if you overdose? What the heck did this spot come from?
sent me for a CT of sinus and it was clear. Sent me to an ENT - gave me nasal steroid and antihistamines. No help. Been doing saline irrigation, vitamins. Am now on Prednisone (steroid pills) for 6 days. After 1 and 1/2 days feel better and pressure is leaving but scared because I know after this 6 days I'll be back to where I was and I'm extremely run down and need to rebuild to fight whatever this is. Scheduled for allergy testing the end of the month.
She started Amoxicillin on a Sunday night.. Monday, Wed and Thurs mornings she has complained of sudden onset of tingling and pain on the palms of her hand, her thumbs, and the soles of her feet. It starts about 5 minutes after awakening, is quite severe, and stops after about 5 minutes, subsiding over a couple of minutes.
Continued to have the tell tale signs of a kidney infection and so was prescribed trimethoprim. And then amoxicillin. And then co-amoxiclav. I'd started to notice a rash I'd developed on my back and put it down to an allergic reaction to the antibiotics. Not only that, but I had been getting severe chills and muscle spasms at night. I remember saying to one doctor 'it's like having electricity pumped through me'.
My wife and 4 year old daughter and I leave for the beach on Friday for a week. My Dr. gave me amoxicillin and also prescribed it for my wife and daughter. He suggested that they start it just in case since we are all traveling for a week. He said to start them on it now as a preventative. Should I do this? What about sun exposure and exercise with this drug? My daughter had never taken antibiotics before either. Please help.

Deb- did you enjoy the beautiful weather today? hopefully all these noreasters are behind us now and we can soak in the sun. With sunblock of course :) LJ- I'm still trying to take it easy. It's hard. I'm used to doing so much all the time. That was strange that they miscalculated your dates. Must have been a scary 24 hours for you but I hope your doctor made you feel a little better. I have faith everything will be ok. Hang in there sweetie.
The rash improved a bit, but began prickling in the heat/sun the next day, and spread to my thighs. The next day, it appeared on my knees and feet, although the rash on my feet was sort of a pinkish blotch (about 2" across), with a redder outline. I went to a different doctor, who took a look at my throat (now severely inflamed/infected, tonsils *****), swollen lymph nodes, and rash, and told me that I had scarlet fever. He didn't perform any tests, but prescribed amoxicillin.
i had sex twice and everything was ok, and after the third time the problems began. my partner and i had hard sex and my penis hurt a bit when she was on top of me. i urinated a few minutes after ejaculating and blood came out along with a very big blood clot at the end. i had sexual intercourse about 7 or 8 times before seeing a doctor. the same occurred except for 2 times, in which no blood appeared.
These are often prescribed for runners, sports injuries to joints, and those suffering from arthritis. Syva labs has recently reworked its Cannabinoid test and claims to have eliminated this problem. But a Science magazine article (July 8, 1988) lists Ibuprofen as cross reactive. Under the new government guidelines THC testing levels will be reduced to 50 nanograms. Many more THC false positives can be expected in 1994. Dristan Nasal Spray, Neosynephren, Vicks Nasal Spray, Sudafed, etc.
All i know is before it started chronically 2 years ago, i had suffered a number of acute exacebations of bronchitis/sinusitis infection in the year and a half (roughly) leading up.
