In any case, I recently bought a compact refrigerator and set it up in the dorm, but I have noticed a chemical smell in the room since I have set it up. I've read that new refrigerators may have a chemical smell due to out-gassing plastic, so I was wondering if this was the source for the chemical smell, or whether this is unusual and if continual exposure to this is harmful in any way. I'm 6 weeks pregnant and I work in a paint department. I mix colors and clean up paint pretty much. Yes it does. High levels of ammonia cause hepatic encephalopathy which in turn can cause confusion, sleepiness and forgetfulness. There are medications to help lower those levels. Speak to your hep doc.

Make sure it definitely is ammonia free, though! Ammonia has been linked to causing blindness in unborn children. I use CHI color. Good luck to u. I'm so glad u asked this question. There's so many women that don't know the consequence.

Watch windex if u clean the windows i read last week on the bottle that it has ammonia in it, idk if its safe to be around ammonia but i didnt wanna take the chance because of how strong it is so i bought some ammonia free!
