Avatar f tn I have heard of this and it isn't safe at all nor remotely accurate. Urine has ammonia in it and when ammonia and bleach mix it releases a very toxic gas, and almost always when urine hits bleach it will fiz or foam that's what creates the gas. I had a friend who tried this once in high school, (just for fun, she wasn't pregnant nor did she want to be) and she ended up in the hospital from the gas it created. Sorry didn't mean to scare you just stating the facts.
1008841 tn?1293598960 What test do they do to test for to test for ammonia. I was just looking through the test that they have given me and I can't find one that says anything about ammonia. They do give me lactolose to try to prevent that, but I just wondered what the test is called. My albumin was a little low so was my sodium, and calcium, on my last test. They do give me propranolol, now, for my varices. They also give a bunch of dieritics. We'll 40mg furosemide and 100mg spironolacton.
Avatar f tn No, fish oil needs no refrigeration if it's in gel caps. It's the flax seed oil that needs the refrigeration.
Avatar n tn My liver biopsy showed a 2 but a blood ammonia test was over 190 so my gastro want me to start the treatment as soon as possible. I also have Ankylosing Spondylitis a form of arthritis. I have probably had Hep for 30 years or more diagnosed in 04. I have been doing a lot of research on the web, especially on the ammonia test, and read the symptoms for a level that high which would indicate a pretty bad liver function are a lot of fatigue, memory loss, confusion etc.
1475202 tn?1536270977 Since not all persons with cirrhosis are affected by elevated ammonia levels what’s the point in the test? Some persons are greatly affected with slightly elevated ammonia levels while others with experience no symptoms of hepatic encephalopathy with high ammonia levels or vice versa. Seeming that the test is irrelevant or at least this is the way of thinking by my hepatologist during my most recent visit to the transplant center in my area. So why do we even talk about it?
Avatar n tn I went to the doctor and he assigned me a blood test to test my ammoneia count. When i got the results it was over 200. After that it went down but just recently i've been experiencing the exact same symptoms. I also just had the flu so i was drinking alot of water to flush the virus out of my system, anybody know what i can do to lower my amoneia count, until i see the doctor next?
Avatar f tn I recently found out I had high ammonia, it was 66, I am taking lactalose and it is is now normal. All my blood work is within normal ranges on my liver function test and I also had a sonogram, have a mild fatty liver. Was wondering what could have caused this. I do drink a few beers a night.
Avatar n tn It can be more useful after several tests have been run. An ammonia test also does not have the ability to detect other toxins which may be contributing to, or could even be the sole cause of any encephalopathy in a patient. What did your doctor say about it ?
Avatar n tn Hi there, Tammy is right. But, specifically the guidance says "Room temperature storage up to 30 days, if refrigeration is unavailable" Note: if refrigeration is unavailable Personally, I feel this does not include varying room temperatures and I would not advise anyone to leave it out in hi (hot) temperatures. But, that's my personal opinion. Would only feel comfortable to do something like that if I knew the temperatures at which the forumula/medicine would change.
Avatar m tn What can cause a ammonia smell in sweat and colon? and raw skin lines on each side of the scrotum between the inner thighs and pus bumps.
Avatar m tn Ammonia level</a>.
Avatar m tn It sounds like you need more carbs, less protein and more water in your diet. Can you say what your diet is like? Do you eat a lot of meat and very little carbohydrates? If this ratio becomes unbalanced it can cause the ammonia smell in your sweat and bowel movements.
190885 tn?1333025891 Hey dog, sorry about your difficulty but I gotta ask you something. Why would you test your ammonia level if you're not cirrhotic? Just wondering really, never heard of anyone testing their level before unless they had to. good luck!
10064121 tn?1415176073 The lactation specialist at my hospital said it's good for 12 hours no refrigeration. 36 hours refrigeration. 1 month in the door of a normal freezer. 3 months in a deep freeze.
Avatar m tn Aim playing racket ball three times a week for well 2-3 hours. I notice this ammonia smell with my sweat. Now I always sweat heavy when I work out. But this ammonia smell new. Other than this smell aim fine losing some weight.
Avatar n tn s kind of expensive, so there is no need to discard it for such a short period without refrigeration. You can test it, of course, by giving an injection before bedtime and checking your glucose upon awakening and compare it with what usually happens.
Avatar n tn I am worried because my test was not done right away. I also believe it was left out of refrigeration for sometime and then put in refrigeration. I also don't know on what conditions it was when it finally got laboratory. I know that they did a general blood test (that they do for people looking for immigration, but I had not immigration issues but that is ok). They did a general blood check, kidney check, HIV, syphilis, and some other stuff.
Avatar f tn High concentrations are really dangerous, but low concentrations could be tolerated by other humans. You can have a blood test to check the levels of ammonia in your blood, but I’ve not got round to investigating it yet. I’m convinced it’s a gas or a toxin linked to one of our bio-chemical body reactions. One day it will all make sense.
Avatar m tn Also, when she has her labs drawn be sure the lab tech always puts the green topped tube (the one used to test ammonia level) on ice immediately or the results could be falsely elevated. It happened to me once and my dr almost had a heart attack. Good Luck to your mom.
Avatar f tn As far as the way you smell goes, I think it depends on what you eat. The more sugar or caffeine I consume the worse I effect other people. Like I said earlier, I'm not a doctor, and my kidneys are fine as well. But I have smelled an ammonia like smell coming off of myself and I've seen how others react to it, coughing and itching. I don't know the how's or why's, but this is one symptom of our condition. Of that, I am sure.
1481758 tn?1287638643 So I had an ammonia test due to normal testing for taking Valproic Acid (only 500mg/day). It was for the first time ever, high in 2 yrs. Stopped the meds. 2.5 wks later, slightly higher. My primary MD now took me off my diuretic stating that could also be a culprit. Off for 1 wk, then meet again in 1 week to ck BP. 2 wks later, ck ammonia again. My question is, is it common for meds that can dehydrate you (e.
