I’m sorry to hear of your husband’s troubles. Is he currently taking Lactulose or anything to manage ammonia production? The Lactulose will be the sticky-sweet liquid that gives him the runs? He may need to have that adjusted, or possibly have another drug added to that regimen.

2 weeks later, he is acting like a zombie, he was admitted for high level of ammonia in his blood. He was released Sunday and 3 days later he is acting like a zombie again. He is going to the restroom somewhat normal. And drinking and eatting when forced. He is stuggling to take his meds., sometimes taking 45 min just to take the liquid meds. I am 13 hours away from my dad. Why is this happening?

Say I have an active outbreak of genital herpes and one of the sore breaks and the liquid from it gets deposited on my underwear or on the towel, and somebody uses the towel or picks up the underwear for laundry washing. Personally, I feel this does not include varying room temperatures and I would not advise anyone to leave it out in hi (hot) temperatures. But, that's my personal opinion. Would only feel comfortable to do something like that if I knew the temperatures at which the forumula/medicine would change.

My husband's ammonia level is @ 68; 2 weeks ago was @ 60. He is currently taking Lactulose 15 ml twice a day; 2 weeks ago he was lethargic, confused and had extremely poor coordination, was diagnosed with hepatic encephalopathy. He has dramatically improved but his ammonia level continues to rise. He was advised to increase the lactulose to 30 ml twice a day for 5 days and then resume back to 15 ml twice a day. Is there any other medication for elevated ammonia?

After my egg retrival, my body started discharging this clear liquid. The liquid (about a spoon full) would come out randomly and I couldn't control it. It's a good practice to wash your hands before and after taking any medications. That said even if one didn't wash there hands - the transfer of a dry opiate (pill form) or any dry medication would be next to impossible from hand to hard surface.
The condition that happens when ammonia levels get too high. His doctor prescribed Lactulose. The liquid medication that does indeed increase the need for the bathroom. He is taking 3T. three times a day. In the beginning he would find himself rushing off the bathroom pretty frequently. Once the meds became established in his system (a month or so seems to be my recollection of how long it took) he now has 3-4 soft BM's a day and no longer feels chained to the bathroom.
