Avatar f tn It is also possible that, if the concentration of ammonia is high enough, chlorine gas will form. If it starts to give off a strong odour and your eyes are burning, flush it and open a window or turn on the ventilation fan immediately, then get out of the room. Chlorine gas is highly toxic.
Avatar f tn If mixed with ammonia or acid-based cleaners (including vinegar), chlorine bleach releases toxic chloramine gas. Short-term exposure to this gas may cause mild asthmatic symptoms or more serious respiratory problems. (Source: Washington Toxics Coalition) You could try the following remedies. To be on the safe side, don't mix chlorine bleach with anything -- or just avoid chlorine bleach altogether.
Avatar f tn I have heard of this and it isn't safe at all nor remotely accurate. Urine has ammonia in it and when ammonia and bleach mix it releases a very toxic gas, and almost always when urine hits bleach it will fiz or foam that's what creates the gas. I had a friend who tried this once in high school, (just for fun, she wasn't pregnant nor did she want to be) and she ended up in the hospital from the gas it created. Sorry didn't mean to scare you just stating the facts.
208764 tn?1249429657 Irritating effects in humans was intense at concentration levels of 5 ppm. Accidental exposure at 19 ppm of the gas inside a bleach tank resulted in the death of one worker (time of exposure is not specified) [ACGIH 1991]. Workers exposed for 5 years to average chlorine dioxide concentrations below 0.
Avatar n tn Urine has ammonia in it. Ammonia mixed with bleach makes a VERY toxic gas.
Avatar f tn Can a person have elevated ammonia in bloodstream from an environmental exposure? And what would the symptoms be?
Avatar n tn There is more than one variety, and a specialist is needed to determine the specific type. Generally ammonia will destroy this kind of mold. I know people recommend other liquids, but ammonia is the way to go. Before using the ammonia the room should be "dewatered" with use of one of more dehumidifiers. These molds like moist places.
Avatar f tn I heard it was the ammonia in windex so as long as u get the ammonia free u should be ok but id talk to my dr first
Avatar m tn When it is mixed with ammonia, it can create chloramine gas, another toxic substance. Short-term exposure to chloramine gas may cause mild asthmatic symptoms or more serious respiratory problems. It can even form a toxic gas when hyper-chlorinated by hot water. In the environment, sodium hypochlorite is acutely toxic to fish. The chlorine in bleach can also bind with organic material in the marine environment to form organochlorines, toxic compounds that can persist in the environment.
Avatar n tn However if you choose a diet rich in fiber you may be able to skip that. It will depend on your ammonia levels which a blood test will reveal. You need to get to 3 good bowel movememnts a day to keep blood ammonia down, which is the largest cause of brain fog. If you treat for hep C with SOC you should also see a drop in this problem as your liver returns to normal function and enymes levels.
Avatar f tn I believe that we emit ammonia from our bodies due to to the imbalance in our stomach and digestive track. Are bodies cannot get rid of the excess ammonia properly so it comes out through our pores causing people to sneeze and itch. I'm not a doctor, but I've had this long enough to know this is part of our problem.
Avatar f tn There are some bacteria in the gut that produce hydrogen sulfide gas. Sometimes this gas is produced in such huge quantities that the sulfide oxidase enzyme in the wall of the gut is not able to oxidize all of it and convert it to thiosulfate. Hence the gas enters the blood stream and gets filtered by kidney into the urine. This gas has a smell of rotten eggs. You can test its presence by test strips available OTC.
Avatar m tn My boyfriend works on cars and he said just use cold water, and he also said gas in eyes will clean dirt an grim out of eyes.
Avatar m tn Finally more scientific community investigating this. Thank you for sharing, maybe one day we will get a cause and a cure! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZ9sPWbyROg&t=1810s Check the comments for translation. This sounds like it's us. "Students reported an “old house” or “burnt” or “weird” smell and it also happened to the other teachers.
Avatar f tn Hi there! Puffiness of the eyes is unlikely to be a complication of the procedure. Likely possibilities that may need to be considered include liver/ renal issues, allergies/ inflammations etc. I would suggest getting this evaluated by his treating doctor for appropriate management at this time. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar n tn Organ Systems: The main effects of exposure to chlorine gas include diseases of the lung and tooth corrosion. People with previous lung disease, smokers, and those with breathing problems are more sensitive to chlorine. Cancer: There is no information currently available about whether chlorine causes cancer. Reproductive Effects: No reproductive effects from chlorine exposure have been reported. In general, chemicals affect the same organ systems in all people who are exposed.
Avatar m tn First of all, proteus can decompose urea to produce ammonia. We have all heard the smell of ammonia. The smell of urine in the toilet is the smell of ammonia. Therefore, the urine odor of PATM patients is produced by Proteus. In addition, proteus produces indole and hydrogen sulfide in our intestines. Indole is another name for faecal odor. The reason why feces stink is because of the high concentration of indole in feces. The fecal odor of PATM patients is produced by Proteus.
Avatar m tn Because my gastro doc was so mean, I got referal to U of M gastro departent early september. Im hoping they will test or treat for SIBO or dysbiosis.Next step is the $600 tooth cleaning, then those test one by one, starting with SIBO if i have no luck at University. I am improved this year for ths first time in years, I can only contibute it toparasite cleansing, colon hydrotherapy sessions and copper clorophylin.
Avatar f tn We all know that the gas could be hydrogen sulfide or methane or someting nitrous depending on what consume. But this doesnt explain how it passes through glass windows/doors. The sun emits infrared / UV radiations that can penetrate through glass and hence heat up our car interiors. Obviously, this heat radiations that the sun emits is odorless but perhaps our bodies emit similar radiations that are heaty and suffocating.
Avatar n tn Hi, Carbon monoxide poisoning occurs due to exposure to the gas. The side effects like headaches, confusion, chest pain etc usually go away after some time if there has been a mild exposure. If there has been an exposure severe enough to cause unconsciousness the chances of delayed sequelae are more. Carbon monoxide may not directly worsen optic disc drusen, however it does affect the vision and can cause cortical blindness on repeated and continuous exposure. Hope this helps!
Avatar f tn m not sure if CS gas (one time exposure during basic training = 3 min approx) can damage the lenses or harm my eyes in any way. It would be great if somebody could give me an answer. Thank you.
Avatar n tn Industrial workers who produce formaldehyde or formaldehyde-containing products, laboratory technicians, health care professionals, and mortuary employees may be exposed to higher levels of formaldehyde than the general public. Exposure occurs primarily by inhaling formaldehyde gas or vapor from the air or by absorbing liquids containing formaldehyde through the skin. What are the short-term health effects of formaldehyde exposure?
Avatar m tn can swollen stomach be gas in bowels? what is your age, weight and height? your blood results seem okay.
