Common Questions and Answers about Ammonia exposure during pregnancy

ammonia

Avatar f tn Is it ok to dye/ bleach hair during pregnancy I'm in my 2nd trimester and really want a change. But don't want it if it will harm the baby. Has anyone ever colored hair while pregnant?
Avatar f tn It is NOT safe to do during pregnancy because if it gets in your roots it goes straight to your blood & eventually to the baby
Avatar f tn You can even dye your hair during any stage of your pregnancy and hair dye has a high content of ammonia in it
99627 tn?1301270952 I was just wondering if there is any problem with getting a haircut during pregnancy. I heard some old wives tales that you should not cut your hair during pregnancy. Is there any truth to it? Thank you.
Avatar f tn Hi All, I read online that it is bad for the baby during pregnancy for the mother to smell cat poop and urine. I searched for this online, however there are few results and not clearly gives answer to my question. Is this true?

Avatar f tn I was a hairsytlist for 10 years and everyone of my coworkers colored their hair multiple times during their pregnancy and their babies turn out fine.
Avatar f tn Dying your hair is perfectly fine during pregnancy. I even checked with my doctor. It used to be thought that chemicals were absorbed through your scalp and would be passed to the baby, but it is generally agreed that this is false (if it wasn't, you would gr8 sick every time you dyed your hair) and therefore there is no danger in dying your hair.
Avatar m tn It seems worse when I am hungry and perhaps burning aminos for fuel. My appetite has been poor during detox and I haven't been eating well, so perhaps I'm running on amino acids and stored fat more than usual. I took a whiff of some window cleaner, and bingo, this is the smell I'm getting in my nose and sweat. My doctor thinks I'm crazy... Says if I had enough ammonia in my blood to smell it in my nose, I'd have serious mental issues.
Avatar f tn Can a person have elevated ammonia in bloodstream from an environmental exposure? And what would the symptoms be?
Avatar n tn Not sure if your in the UK but the NHS website said it was OK. I avoided it for my first but with a 2 year old and a growing bump I needed to hide the greys this time!!!
Avatar f tn Hi ladies, ive dyed my hair myself at home for a while now, but not since ive been pregnant because to be honest ive read so much stuff about it (some saying its bad for the baby and unsafe during pregnancy and some saying its absolutely fine) and not sure what to believe!
377412 tn?1283809646 but did anyone notice a change in vaginal odor and discharge during their pregnancy?? All the books and websites Ive been on not ONE mentioned this. And its just odd smelling (of course I have HYPERSENSITIVE nose these days too). But I just recently noticed it. And the discharge is very slight no spotting or anything to be alarmed about. But just wanted to hear what some of u much further along experienced. Ericka 8.
Avatar f tn My doctor told me yes at my last visit when I asked, just ammonia free and a well ventilated area...
Avatar f tn So im almost 5 months next week. Was wondering have any of u color ur hair during pregnacy? Dr said its not bad just have to be in a ventilated place.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if you ladies have dyed your hair during pregnancy. I'm 28 weeks and just dyed my hair for the first time this pregnancy (my last too) I naturally have blonde hair so my yucky roots were trying to pop through my brown. I kept it on the least amount of time and was in an open room. I'm slightly worried only because my boyfriend has me terrified I hurt the baby.
Avatar f tn But it can come out different to how you expected because the changing hormones during pregnancy can affect the way the color comes out. Same with perms or chemical straightening. Due to your hormones the chemicals may react strangely and have adverse effects. But no, you won't hurt your baby. I am a qualified stylist, so I know what I'm talking about. If you really are worried about the smell then open the Windows up.
Avatar f tn Actually, the guide hospital gave me mentions it as the safe to do things during pregnancy and so far I have dyed mine every month. Just bcuz u r pregnant doesn't mean u should look and feel miserable. Enjoy your time and happy dying your hair.
Avatar f tn I would definitely check with my doctor! I don't dye my hair any longer and I wouldn't be willing to risk it while pregnant.
Avatar f tn I have heard of this and it isn't safe at all nor remotely accurate. Urine has ammonia in it and when ammonia and bleach mix it releases a very toxic gas, and almost always when urine hits bleach it will fiz or foam that's what creates the gas. I had a friend who tried this once in high school, (just for fun, she wasn't pregnant nor did she want to be) and she ended up in the hospital from the gas it created. Sorry didn't mean to scare you just stating the facts.
Avatar f tn They say that using hair color at all during pregnancy is unsafe. I colored my hair anyway, and my grandma told me that usually they say not to because the color won't take. But if you're really worried about it, ammonia free solutions probably are your best choice.
Avatar f tn You will still get great results. I had mine done monthly during my first pregnancy and once every 2 months this go around.
Avatar f tn I dyed mine with both my pregnancys without a problem, they say not to dye it within the first trimester though but your past that so it will be fine.
Avatar f tn ve heard from multiple Drs to not dye your hair at all during pregnancy, but honestly...
Avatar f tn You are too funny lol. My hair dresser said its okay to dye your hair anytime during pregnancy but i waited until my 2nd trimester. Just incase!
