Common Questions and Answers about Ammonia breath

ammonia

Avatar f tn what does it mean when i take a breath through my nose and it smells like ammonia sometimes.
Avatar m tn Other people can smell when a person has high ammonia levels on their breath. I have never heard of a patient who could. As with other body smells, the patient is accustomed to their own smell and can not smell it. The smell from ammonia buildup due to advanced liver disease is called "foetor hepaticus". It is the odor of the breath in patients with severe liver disease caused by volatile aromatic substances that accumulate in the blood and urine.
Avatar f tn I was wondering the same thinking. Though I'm not as far along as you though, I'm only 23 weeks. I'm thinking of asking my Dr about it before I really consider if I should or not.
Avatar n tn In the case of a school, professional help is advised, but in a bathroom use a spray bottle with 100% ammonia, go in, hold your breath and spray a three foot by three foot area. You should practice this. The idea is NOT to inhale any of the fumes. NEVER EVER USE AMMONIA AND BLEACH! NEVER! Mixed together they form a poisonous gas. Then leave the house to take care of errands. In an hour or two come back and do another three foot by three foot portion, and again leave the house.
Avatar f tn t return to the doctor since being diagnosed over 2 years ago. He drinks 2 ltrs of wine a day. He has a terrible body odor of ammonia and the bathroom has a constant ammonia odor I find terribly offensive. I feel I need to clean it all the time. I think I started this post just to ask if he would excrete ammonia in his urine if his levels were high; it's beginning to appear to me that this is the case. Any idea if this is an early or later sign of the progression of this disease?
Avatar f tn People cough because our breath smells like ammonia. Causes of ammonia breath odor are h pylori gastritis and chronic renal failure. http://www.rightdiagnosis.com/symptoms/ammonia_breath_odor/causes.htm Please get checked for h pylori, change your diet, do not skip meals!, and try be less anxious when people react to you because then the odor gets stronger. H pylori and halitosis is the cause. H pylori is #1 cause of stomach cancer. I suffer from PATM and I am h pylori positive.
Avatar n tn Dear Sir, I'm not sure if this is the best forum, but it seems the closest fit. I'm a 30 year old British guy, 5'11", 175lbs. At the moment I'm working overseas, and likely to be doing so for at least the next 6 months. For a few weeks now I've been noticing wafts of what I can only describe as the smell of Ammonia. I cant be sure where the smell is coming from - it's quite obvious if I breath in really deep through my nose a few times.
Avatar n tn My Mother had cirhossis. The last few years were the hardest. We thought she had the onset of dementia. All along it was hepatic encephalopathy. Her personality changed; she, too, was very cruel. She, at times, had no filter and was nearly impossible to be around. The liver is a filter. Think of cirhossis as 'bad plumbing'.

1969477 tn?1327548419 I work at a dog day care/boarding & grooming service. The indoor play yards where the dogs go to the bathroom are mopped regularly with a very strong industrial bleach solution that burns all of our eyes terribly & makes all of the dogs go into sneezing fits. I have recently been feeling short of breath easily fatigued & have had several serious dizzy spells that made me unable to function. Could these symptoms be related to inhaling these bleach (& ammonia from the urine) fumes?
Avatar f tn Because the advanced liver disease of cirrhosis causes the liver not to be able to perform its important job of cleaning the blood ammonia can build up in the blood stream. When this blood with high amounts of ammonia reaches the brain this causes the symptom of Hepatic encephalopathy called HE for short. HE encompasses a range of symptoms depending on the severity of the condition, so symptoms can vary widely from one person to another.
Avatar f tn But when they start to smell you simply toss them in a big pot of water with ammonia assassin and boil them for awhile. Ammonia assassin is not expensive.
Avatar f tn Just don't breath chemicals... you also might notice a color band due to your body's chemical changes and vitamins... lightening can be disastrous! Darker is just depositing, still be prepared if it's not a perfect match!
Avatar f tn At my worst I was very disoriented, extremely tired, itchy, pins and needles in my feet, smelly breath, very strong ammonia smell in the bathroom, low appetite, weight loss, and the RUQ pain. Do you think it’s possible to have HE without liver failure?
Avatar n tn For example, a person with a failing liver or kidneys may smell of ammonia...A diabetic with blood sugar problems may smell like Juicy Fruit gum...Someone with a throat or lung infection may have horrid smelling breath..Someone with a yeast overgrowth will smell sour...Hopefully this helps...
Avatar f tn With my first pregnancy my midwife told me not to use the ones with chemicals in them because its bad to breath in and they absorb through the scalp but that I could use natural hair dyes without chemicals and it would be fine. Unfortunately they don't work as well but it's better than nothing.! Lol.
Avatar f tn I'm 6 weeks pregnant and I work in a paint department. I mix colors and clean up paint pretty much. Since I've worked there we have always used glass cleaner to clean the paint off the desk and our hands. I didnt know this until today but the cleaner we use has ammonia in it. I've been using it every day for a few months to get the paint off of my hands. Could it have hurt my baby?
