Common Questions and Answers about Ammonia bleach mixed

ammonia

Avatar n tn Urine has ammonia in it. Ammonia mixed with bleach makes a VERY toxic gas.
1969477 tn?1327548419 I work at a dog day care/boarding & grooming service. The indoor play yards where the dogs go to the bathroom are mopped regularly with a very strong industrial bleach solution that burns all of our eyes terribly & makes all of the dogs go into sneezing fits. I have recently been feeling short of breath easily fatigued & have had several serious dizzy spells that made me unable to function. Could these symptoms be related to inhaling these bleach (& ammonia from the urine) fumes?
Avatar f tn It means the ammonia in your urine mixed with the bleach and caused a chemical reaction. I'm sorry, but it's not an accurate way to test for pregnancy.
Avatar n tn I would say no as long as your in a well ventilated area your hormones may change the shade though.. and I wouldn't bleach it..
Avatar f tn Hey guys! FTM here, curious if any of you dye or bleach your hair while expecting. I've read mixed reviews, some saying it's fine and some saying it's better to wait. I would love to bleach my hair, just wanting to mix things up a bit. I'm about 16 weeks. Any opinions?
Avatar n tn You should practice this. The idea is NOT to inhale any of the fumes. NEVER EVER USE AMMONIA AND BLEACH! NEVER! Mixed together they form a poisonous gas. Then leave the house to take care of errands. In an hour or two come back and do another three foot by three foot portion, and again leave the house. Keep the bathroom window open. When the entire bathroom is done, wash down the walls thoroughly. It may take you several days to work your way through the bathroom. Keep the dehumidier on.
Avatar f tn I have heard of this and it isn't safe at all nor remotely accurate. Urine has ammonia in it and when ammonia and bleach mix it releases a very toxic gas, and almost always when urine hits bleach it will fiz or foam that's what creates the gas. I had a friend who tried this once in high school, (just for fun, she wasn't pregnant nor did she want to be) and she ended up in the hospital from the gas it created. Sorry didn't mean to scare you just stating the facts.
Avatar f tn Get a little bit of bleach and put it in a cup and take your urine and poor it inside the bleach if it foams and fizzles it suppose to mean girl if it does nothing at all it suppose to mean boy.
Avatar f tn Dye yes, bleach not so much... they say ammonia free dye and in a well ventilated area.
9171934 tn?1405180032 s no proof that the chemicals in hair bleach --like peroxide or ammonia --cause birth defects, miscarriages, or any other complications, there are also no reliable studies that prove that bleaching your body hair is totally safe. Since it's likely that these chemicals will be absorbed through the skin and can reach your baby, it's best to avoid using them --especially in the first trimester, when much of your baby's crucial development is taking place.
Avatar f tn I would stay away from the bleach and makes sure they are ammonia free it should say on the box
Avatar f tn I am 18 + 1 week and I keep getting mixed reviews on whether or not to dye my hair my roots are terrible and I feel its just a mess is it safe to dye my hair myself woth a shop bought dye?
Avatar m tn When bleach is mixed with acids (such as those found in toilet bowl cleaners), it reacts with them to form chlorine gas, which can actually be deadly. When it is mixed with ammonia, it can create chloramine gas, another toxic substance. Short-term exposure to chloramine gas may cause mild asthmatic symptoms or more serious respiratory problems. It can even form a toxic gas when hyper-chlorinated by hot water. In the environment, sodium hypochlorite is acutely toxic to fish.
Avatar f tn The chemical reaction between bleach and urine is very dangerous and can cause 3rd degree burns if it comes in contact with your skin and it's also toxic to breathe
Avatar f tn Does anyone on here use dye thats not ammonia free? I get worried at times bcuss wehn I died my hair 2 weeks ago I didnt use ammonia free. I used the garnier frutis hair dye. But I was outside wehn i was dying it. But some girls say use the ammonia free dye. Was I still safe? & are u not supposed to put it on your scalp?
Avatar f tn t speak for over the counter color but almost all professional color products are made with much gentler ingredients and much lower ammonia or no ammonia. Most have a very mild smell. Saying that though, some times hormonal changes can cause a lightner(bleach) to have unpredictable results. Like maybe staying a bit brassier than you'd like. But I personally have never encountered that problem. In my opinion I think it safe to do anything to your hair except keratin smoothing treatments.
Avatar f tn Ladies has anyone dyed their hair during pregnancy? Can one dye there hair or not? Im 6 months and I'm going crazy with this hair I want to dye it so bad but I've heard mixed things about dying hair while pregnant.
Avatar f tn Once you hit 2nd trimester your good to go. Yes color hair but no bleach!!!!! Also make sure the color you get is ammonia free.
Avatar f tn I use a ammonia free bleach on my whole head made by chi but it is the only one on the market that doesn't have ammonia so I've done my roots the same as I've always done for years with this product and yes u will need a good conditioner and products to help ur hair out but I don't see why u would be able to do it!
Avatar f tn Garnier is prly one of the better ones it's ammonia free or at heart they make an ammonia free one :-) but yes open bathroom window leave door open and your fine :-)
9310208 tn?1410859285 I use dishsoap on counters, vinegar water and dshsoap mixture on floors, water alone on mirrors, green or natural toilet bowl cleaner that has low odor, and antibacterial cleaning wipes that I wear gloves with in the bathroom that don't smell too strong. Vinegar on counter and cutting board when sanitizing. Vinegar and baking soda paste mixture in oven and let it sit before scrubbing. I never have used many chemicals to clean (except the bathroom). I felt it was still pretty sanitary.
Avatar n tn So I am currently 2 months pregnant. I have bleach blonde hair && my roots are terribly grown out. I was thinking of putting low lights in to blend my roots. Instead of using bleach. Some people say its ok to dye your hair using foils so it doesn't touch the scalp. And that dyes are much safer these days; some are ammonia free. What to do?
10256164 tn?1408981241 t bleach or ammonia based. The safest way to do it is to go to a salon (better ventilated) and ask for a dye that is safe to use while pregnant.
Avatar f tn Use ammonia free dye. There is less of a color selection but it's worth the extra precaution. Never ever ever bleach your hair while pregnant though.
