Ammonia and litmus paper

Common Questions and Answers about Ammonia and litmus paper

ammonia

Avatar f tn The test that they do, as far as I know, is a litmus paper test which also reacts to semen. So if you went in right now, likely the litmus paper would turn blue, because it's either semen or amniotic fluid.
Avatar n tn But definitely let your doctor know they can take a litmus paper test to show what it is.
Avatar f tn That could be a number of things. Could be a tear in your forewaters (the thin lining around your amniotic sac). This is harmless. Could also be that baby has dropped into your pelvis and is putting pressure on your bladder. Or maybe you are leaking amniotic fluid. Either way, I would go to your provider to make sure. They will do a litmus test which is a paper that test the pH of the liquid to see if it's pee or not.
Avatar f tn No, they can use a piece of litmus paper to test the "fluids" in your vagina to see if it broke and if that comes back negative, they will do a swab up higher in your vagina and send it to the lab. I had it happen at 37 weeks, and it came back negative.
Avatar f tn I have the exact same thing goimg on. My ob says its perfectly normal.
Avatar f tn If you hat some litmus paper and knew the color to look for.
Avatar m tn You could get several mid-stream urine samples and see if any show RBC (red blood cells…this is not just a litmus paper type test, a lab tech needs to look at the urine under a microscope). This technique is far from fool-proof as most urologists have patients who only had a single episode of hematuria and were found to have kidney and bladder tumors. If you are a smoker, then your risks of developing a bladder tumor are increased. So, I do not have your answer.
Avatar f tn But when I went in they tested me with the litmus paper and it came back negative, then they also swabbed, and said negative on that as well. Usually this happens to me at least once a day, after I walk and such, and they just retested me at my appt yesterday (38+5) and said the same thing again. Just an increase of discharge getting ready for labor! Good luck mama!
Avatar m tn I would also check saliva pH levels with litmus paper. Tremors can be from the blood being too alkaline or acidic.
187316 tn?1386356682 Yep it is the same. Have you tried a few different positions? sometimes the baby's head acts as a cork so you have to change positions, I noticed my dampness when I walked or went from a seared position to Indian style, I tried laying down for 30 mins and then standing but it wasn't overly effective for me, but I experimented by changing to a dry pair of panties and then changed positions and after about 6 pair of undies I was finally convinced I knew it was fluid and not pee...
Avatar f tn I woke up in the morning and my underwear were wet. I put a pad on and it very slowly leaked more. I went in and got it tested. Before the test came back my water fully broke. Bounce on a ball or walk. Put a pad on and you will know if your leaking.
Avatar f tn I don't remember the brand but I got some at Wal-Mart a few years ago and it's just little strips of litmus paper there where I think 50 strips for 8 bucks check Wal-Marts website also cvs and Walgreens should have something similar if no luck there try amazon....
Avatar m tn It can decompose urea to produce ammonia, and can also produce indole and hydrogen sulfide in the intestine. First of all, proteus can decompose urea to produce ammonia. We have all heard the smell of ammonia. The smell of urine in the toilet is the smell of ammonia. Therefore, the urine odor of PATM patients is produced by Proteus. In addition, proteus produces indole and hydrogen sulfide in our intestines. Indole is another name for faecal odor.
Avatar m tn Aghh :(( I am on travel for work--it's the association's summer board retreat and meeting, and I'm the marketing/communications director. The board dinner was tonight and GUESS WHO fell asleep an hour before and almost slept through it? They held up the bus ten minutes waiting for me while the president called. I was just so exhausted, I hardly heard the phone ringing.
Avatar n tn My labs according to my Dr are usually close to perfect, yet my ammonia level does fluctuate up and down. I am on Lactolose (sp?) I was a heavy drinker, and went in to renal and hepatic shut down. I was told that my liver looked like someone rubbed it with glass sand paper. I quit drinking over 500 days ago, but what worries me is that in most cases of cirrhosis the liver shrinks, but mine is swollen causing me severe upper right quadrant pain. I am on a Fent patch and dilaudid as needed.
Avatar m tn What can cause a ammonia smell in sweat and colon? and raw skin lines on each side of the scrotum between the inner thighs and pus bumps.

Avatar n tn My sister has liver failure, but I feel like I am getting more questions than answers, what are the right questions to ask to find out where she is in the process, she is currently in a rehab to get back on her feet after spending 30 days in the ICU restrained do to confusion, she has a very disteneded belly and has alot of diarrhea also using a walker to get around, this is her 3rd time in the hospital for drinkig and ammonia levels so high she was out of her mind, there is no talk of a drainin
Avatar m tn Yes, I thought it strange that urologist diagnosed it as non-bacterial but never took a semen sample and then prescribed antibiotics. I suppose since he didn't see any bacteria in urine...but he didn't culture urine he told me "it was clean" a few minutes after he took the sample. Is there some kind of litmus paper they dip into the urine to look for bacteria?
Avatar f tn Yes. You can also pick. Up litmus paper(i think) test strips and try it that way. Google can tell you what to look for.
Avatar n tn Hello Sylvester, As you may know, we're all volunteers here and none of us is medical professional nor lab technician. We all have considerable experience with diabetes and it's from that perspective I'll attempt to the question I think you're asking.
Avatar f tn Blood in the urine can be a nothing but also can be quite significant. The first thing that I do is ask my patients to repeat the urine sample a few times as "mid-stream" urinalyses. Most urine samples are provided as initial voided specimens, i.e., the individual just urinates into the cup from the outset of voiding. A mid-stream involves allowing the first portion of the stream (maybe a third of a cup or so) to go into the toilette, then collecting the sample.
Avatar m tn My liver disease also caused my serum sodium level to drop off (a condition known as Hyponatremia) and a low sodium level can produce a dementia similar to high ammonia levels but is more difficult to treat (at least in my experience).
Avatar f tn I have undergone several tests as per my health checkup, and Physician has confirmed nothing seriously wrong, and advised me not to worry and continue to remain sober However, because of my minor symptoms and the ammonia level, and information on the web worries me for encephalopathy.Could you help me in: -If Encephalopathy is suspected, then also suspect is associated cirrhosis, and portal hypertension? But USG says No portal hypertension. -What could be the reason of high ammonia?
Avatar f tn I'm not quite sure I understand all that happened here - a date rape test is a test to test for date rape drugs in drinks. It's like a paper litmus thing you put in the drink to test for GHB and other drugs.
Avatar m tn In that circumstance it keeps his/her family in tension. Unless there is a precautionary way to monitor cccDNA at home. There is no litmus paper testing HBV on his/her body fluid?
