Avatar n tn It's not going to help the gastritis. Didn't your doc prescribe anything else? And didn't he/she suggest a GERD diet? If not, you may want to check on GERD 'foods' at www.gicare.com. And you may want to recheck with your doc about what to do to tamp down the acid, if that's what is causing the gastritis. Have you been checked for H. pylori? If you haven't, you may want to do so.
Avatar f tn Hi, I take 150mcg of levothyroxine a day and I don't feel any of thise things.
Avatar m tn My cardiologist subbed 5 mg Nebivolol for the Amlodipine due to what he described as exercise-related hypertension. I took this medication for a week and experienced a range of unpleasant side effects, including exhaustion, significant depression and reduced heart rate (mid-60s, compared with my normal mid-80s). I've been off the Nebivolol for five days, but I'm still experiencing these side effects. My heart rate has only come back to about 67-68.
Avatar m tn Your concern is valid in that being on both a calcium channel blocker and a beta blocker can have risks of reducing the heart rate too low or affecting other conducting regions of the heart. However, amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium-channel blocker whose primary effect is more peripherally acting rather (as compared to the non-dihydropyridine CCB, i.e. diltiazem or verapamil, which are more centrally acting).
Avatar n tn The forum does not suggest any medication nor recommend any medication for any cardiovascular disorders, etc. I believe your opinions are more in the pharmacological domain.
Avatar m tn I had been taking Amlodipine for a few weeks and BP rose. Doctor has increased to 5 mg. Not sure how long it will take to reduce BP. Has anyone any experience with Amlodipine? How is it? Any adverse side effects?
Avatar f tn ) I am just really scared that once I have the actual muscle biopsy done I will have gone through all of that pain for it being amlodipine. I did have an abnormal EMG reading. From what I have been told by my dr that my ANA and U1-RNP results are not that high. However he did say that no matter the number it does not usually detect how active or inactive the disease is.
Avatar f tn As anyone had the stress test the two parts myacardial perfusion scan after 4 weeks the cardiologist sent a prescription for asprin , isosirbide monitrate, amlodipine antrovastatin said my scan was 15% what does this mean is this not too bad medium or high risk don’t see him for another 2 months sldo can I have a few drinks on them as Iv not had a drink I just wondered people on these meds if they have a few drinks now n again thank you in advance x
2191752 tn?1338280689 I believe you are not that predisposed to have cough when you take amlodipine because unlike losartan, it does not predisposed you to have infections that causes cough. Nevertheless, before switching medications you have to consult with your physician first.
Avatar m tn t as bad as I thought, but she hasnt been eating very much the last few days. What else can we do to get her to eat? Is she in pain? or is she just too weak from not eating? How long does she have to be on the antibiotic for? Will she get her appetite back? I've read a lot of the threads on this website, as well as read Tony's guide. Thank you for any input.
Avatar f tn They started me on losartan 50 mg and amlodipine 5mg. And for some reason it seams like it is not going down, so I went to the ER and they increased my amlodipine to 10mg and adv me to contact my primary dr that following week. Called the dr that next week and he increased my losartan to 100 mg and amlodipine to 10 mg, 1 each per day. However it seems like my bp is still hanging out around the upper 180's.
Avatar m tn my mother she's diabetes level 2, and blind, she take this medicament daily for 5 years ago : losartan, Fer protéinsuccinylate, Furosémide, Oméprazole, insuline, Amlodipine, antipyrétique, a week ago she can't stand up, we do some analyse to her and the doc tell us that she must do dyalisis, but am sure that there is another solution than doing dyalisis so the result of the analys is uree............1,98 g/L and cratinine............83.
Avatar n tn They say not to because you may worry about side effects that may occur but I do it anyway and give the meds a chance before I worry about that. Unfortunately I have no knowledge about the medicine you are talking about but there are a lot of forums on Medhelp to include anxiety as well some that may pertain to the reason you have to take the norvasc. Good luck and check back here perhaps someone has experience with this.
Avatar m tn The brown discoloration is caused by the swelling. I looked it up and swelling of the ankle area was the most prevalent side effect for amlodipine. Thirteen percent of users experienced swelling. I got off amlodipine 2 months ago and have not had an episode of swelling since. It may take years for the brown to totally fade.
Avatar m tn Do you have a fever? A rapid heart rate over 100 at rest is a medically significant symptom and could be an indication of serious cardiovascular condition. There could be blocked arteries in your legs, called peripheral artery disease that may be causing your leg pain. “If you can walk through the pain and it gets better as you go, it’s rheumatoid arthritis,” says Michael R.
Avatar f tn I’ve been out of school for almost 4 weeks now. My doctor has no clue what to do because none of the medicines have made any difference, I drink 100 ozs of water a day, I eat healthy, I have my salt, nothing is changing! I go to a school for the arts and my major is dance, so I haven’t been able to dance for almost a year as well. Life has been very troubling. My point is, my newest symptom are these blackouts, they happen 30+ times a day, and it lasts a few seconds.
Avatar m tn t know what caused the arrhythemia or exactly even agree on what caused it, the cardiologist has agreed to a trial off the beta blocker after six months. Although I would love to get off the beta blocker, I've considered if it might be better to remove the amlodipine instead. Like crashmeister, I'm wondering why take the original drug that seemed to raise my HR without lowering my BP as well as the beta blocker.
Avatar m tn Small irregular doses may be ok, but you need to be cautious given your previous medical history. As the saying goes, if in doubt check it out. Thats what you need to do.
Avatar m tn From the sound of it, the symptoms come on at random, not specifically with any kind of exertion to work the heart harder. Perhaps one simple test they could do is to offer your Wife a Nitro spray. When squirted under the tongue, this opens the arteries and allows more blood flow. If it is heart related, then this is more than likely going to give relief. If it does, then perhaps the cardiologist or doctor could consider vasospasm.
