Avatar m tn Hi there. So, here is a general info sheet on amlodipine, the calcium channel blocker. https://www.drugs.com/amlodipine.html. Vision issues are considered rare. Here is a comprehensive list of side effects: https://www.drugs.com/sfx/amlodipine-side-effects.html. It also lists red, irritated eyes as a side effect. Avatar m tn My ankles swelled from time to time and got brown patches that did not itch. Luckily the doctor I went to recognized the blood pressure medicine I was on (Amlodipine) is known for swelling ankles. The brown discoloration is caused by the swelling. I looked it up and swelling of the ankle area was the most prevalent side effect for amlodipine. Thirteen percent of users experienced swelling. I got off amlodipine 2 months ago and have not had an episode of swelling since.
Avatar m tn I had been taking Amlodipine for a few weeks and BP rose. Doctor has increased to 5 mg. Not sure how long it will take to reduce BP. Has anyone any experience with Amlodipine? How is it? Any adverse side effects?

2191752 tn?1338280689 I'm on hypertension meds too. One side effect is dehydration therefore making sure you maintain a good intake of water is important and you won't get that cough or least, cough less. Make sure you speak to your Dr.
Avatar f tn Don't listen to render. He is just trying to scare you. It's a huge jump from having a headache to having cancer and everyone's symptoms are different anyway. Has your DH seen a doctor about it? Maybe the headache is due to anxiety. It could also be excitement. Stress from work can cause the tension and the release from ejaculation may be causing the headaches. Could it maybe be subconscious?
Avatar f tn And for some reason it seams like it is not going down, so I went to the ER and they increased my amlodipine to 10mg and adv me to contact my primary dr that following week. Called the dr that next week and he increased my losartan to 100 mg and amlodipine to 10 mg, 1 each per day. However it seems like my bp is still hanging out around the upper 180's. I take Vyvanse and also duloxetine 1 time daily also, could those be helping my bp stay high?
Avatar m tn My cardiologist subbed 5 mg Nebivolol for the Amlodipine due to what he described as exercise-related hypertension. I took this medication for a week and experienced a range of unpleasant side effects, including exhaustion, significant depression and reduced heart rate (mid-60s, compared with my normal mid-80s). I've been off the Nebivolol for five days, but I'm still experiencing these side effects. My heart rate has only come back to about 67-68.
Avatar m tn I have being told to continue sertraline and use diazepam as and when needed but to also take 1 amlodipine 5mg daily ro bring the bp down and that these were extremely safe wirh the only real side effect being swelling of ankles but to go back if that happens. I have come home and tested my bp and it is averaging about 130/90 but have being looking online about this amlodipine and seen people even call it poison. Is there any one here who uses it? Does it work? Is it worth it?
Avatar m tn So be careful, you need to fully brief your cardiologist first, on this to be sure its ok. Small irregular doses may be ok, but you need to be cautious given your previous medical history. As the saying goes, if in doubt check it out. Thats what you need to do.
Avatar f tn Hi, the commonest side effect with amlodipine is peripheral edema. If troublesome, discuss your symptoms with your consulting doctor he may change the dose or the medications. Regards.

Avatar n tn Hi, my mother has just started taking amlodipine for high blood pressure (her reading is very high at 210/120) She took the first one around 24 hours ago but has developed a SEVERE headache and cannot tolerate bright lights(so may be a migraine) Should she stop taking the tablets or is this a common side effect of the drug? Will it go away on its own if she carries on taking the tablets? She also feels weak and a little nausea.

Avatar n tn I was just prescribed amlodipine for my gastritis how ever I can't seem to find any info about it being helpful for that. All the info I have found is about blood pressure. Is this a common prescription? Should I be concerned if I already have low blood pressure?
Avatar m tn Some references said that cilnidipine 10 mg is equivalent to amlodipine 5 mg tablet. Is there any article/journal regarding this dose??
Avatar f tn t have done so but I just want to give my system ONE last chance before it gets obvious that I really need drug therapy and also, I figure the dose was very low with little or no rebound effect if terminated). I keep tracking my day-to-day blood pressure which very rarely exceed 135/90. With regular very low dose of 2.5 amlodipine, my BP especially systolic had been spot on, rarely exceeding 125 even after a bad night's sleep. My diastolic occasionally go slightly above 88.

1102792 tn?1285925260 ve realised that most of my probs are caused by heavy alcohol and cigs consumption, my heart doesnt seem to be able to take the pressure of beating very fast which i believe is caused by acetlydehyde an alcohol metabolite, and narrowed arteries, due to heavy smoking, also i am very sensitive to salt, infact reducing salt in my diet has more effect on my bp than all the drugs i am taking combined, when i cut down salt in my diet my bp drpped from an average of 130/80 (wihtout alcohol consumtion)
Avatar f tn Her blood pressure has recently been improved and taking both pills cause low blood pressure, she is also suffering from cough as a side effect from perindopril. I am considering to shift her to nebivolol only but 5 mg once a day is not controlling the blood pressure well. My question is can nebivolol be taken twice a day in 2.
Avatar n tn However, it has been so mild I hardly notice it anymore. I began taking Lotrel in early March. In May I noticed my feet starting to tingle again. Gradually it has gotten severe and it is also burning. As a test I went off Lotrel for two days and the tingling and burning disappeared. When I went back on it, it flared up again.
