Avatar n tn The brown discoloration is caused by the swelling. I looked it up and swelling of the ankle area was the most prevalent side effect for amlodipine. Thirteen percent of users experienced swelling. So the doc was right. I got off amlodipine 2 months ago and have not had an episode of swelling since. It may take years for the brown to totally fade.

Avatar f tn The S- isomer of amlodipine or Asomex® is being studied in clinical trials and may lead to side effects such as fatigue or tiredness, dizziness or fainting, headache, flushing, or swelling of the legs or ankles. Side effects of amlodipine are generally mild and reversible. If the foot tingling and muscle twitching persists, it is best that you have this evaluated further by a neuroloigst to rule out possible neurological causes.
Avatar m tn I doubt this combination would be approved if it was dangerous. But all drugs may have side effects, and if you get bothersome side effects, you should report them to your doctor. Good luck.
Avatar m tn My cardiologist subbed 5 mg Nebivolol for the Amlodipine due to what he described as exercise-related hypertension. I took this medication for a week and experienced a range of unpleasant side effects, including exhaustion, significant depression and reduced heart rate (mid-60s, compared with my normal mid-80s). I've been off the Nebivolol for five days, but I'm still experiencing these side effects. My heart rate has only come back to about 67-68.

Avatar n tn There is at least one sporadic case reported in the literature of neuropathy associated with an ACE inhibitor. When reviewing side effects from these medications, paresthesias (abnormal sensation) is reported to be associated with ACE inhibitors in less than 1%. Patients on amlodipine on the other hand, sometimes report abnormal sensation in the legs but mostly associated with “swelling”, and not associated with neuropathy.
Avatar m tn It sits anywhere between 115/70 up to 160/95 on a normal day but today when I went to see my doctor It was 144/111 and he was not happy. I have being given atenlol prior but was put off after reading side effects. Then was told again it was anxiety causing these pains so was given sertraline which I have begrudgingly took for the past 10 days alongside 1 diazepam 2mg daily but I am still light headed and have a weird tingle/pain sensation around my chest sometimes hence my visit today.
Avatar m tn Not sure how long it will take to reduce BP. Has anyone any experience with Amlodipine? How is it? Any adverse side effects?
1495558 tn?1288805527 this does not sound like a normal reaction, and why, for heavens sake, if she is having these side effects, should she stay on it.
653169 tn?1303446369 I do know that all to often things like this are not listed as side effects. The problem is that the doctors and or patients do not report them and so they too often get looked over as is the case here. I am sure there are many documented cases they just are not reported. I am not sure what the protocol is far as doctors reporting side effects but we as Pt's can call the pharmaceutical company and report effects. this will help many.

Avatar f tn readings is very good, 110/70. But eversince I started the Norvasc, my left leg is swelling and it is becoming worst. I'd like to ask my Doctor to discontinue the Norvasc. Is there any other calcium blocker that doesn't cause swelling? I've already taken Zestril (ace inhibitor) with the Diovan before. Can you please tell me what other good medications to be taken with the Diovan. I appreciate your help.
Avatar n tn I have taken as much as 200 mg of Metoprolol to slow down a fast HR... but it gave me too many side effects. I now take 50 mg of Metoprolol and have added a Calcium Channel Blocker to help lower my HR. So, my treatment reason is different than yours, but I share for whatever value you may find in my "story".
Avatar f tn ve since heard that it can reduce the effects of Tamoxifen. Is there anything I can do about the weight/swelling and/or the hot flashes. Now, I can't even handle mild exercise for more than fifteen minutes without shortness of breath and sweating profusely. I'm tempted to stop taking the Tamoxifen.

Avatar f tn There is little liklihood that any of her problems are due to the pacemaker, which only duplicates the actions of the sino-atrial node, producing pulses that induce heart contractions. The modern generation of pacemakers are quite sophisticated and good. I suspect she has long standing problems before the pacemaker. Your mother has my sympathies and is in my prayers.
