Avatar f tn Had a large tumor and total thyroidectomy removed 3 weeks ago. The past few days having dull but strong headaches that go into my ear, down my jaw into my neck. I'm taking 100 mcg of Levothyroxine a day and 2 Calcitrol a day. My calcium was very low after surgery.
Avatar m tn I was prescrbed metoprolol 50mg and amlodipine 5mg. I have been taking this medine for a year. I have been regularly checking my BP ever since. It comes to 130/75mm/hg within a month. But Still I am taking the same dosage. My worry is : Is metoprolol and amlodipine safe to take?Since I am 38 only what would be its long term effects. That is taking the drug for over 30 years? Finally whether the dosage may be changed? Please help.
Avatar m tn As expected this had corresponding effect on blood pleasure and during day time both systolic and diastolic pressure is near normal. Please correct me if my understanding is wrong. Earlier with the dosage of 25mg my reading during day time would be around 100/60 with heart rate ranging between 55 and 60. The present reading while resting during day time after reducing the dosage is 110/77 with pulse around 65.
Avatar f tn Hi, my mother is 76 yrs old and has been taking a pill called Envas for high blood pressure control for 15 yrs now. It irritated her throat. So she changed to Amlopress (amlodipine) table - half daily - on another doctor's advice. Her blood pressure (systolic) seems to be rising every day. Yesterday it was 150/80 and today it was 170/80. She is active in managing her home - like cooking, washing clothes and so on. She doesn't exercise beyond that because of her knee arthritis.
920737 tn?1250348210 Was switched from lisinopril to amlodipine. Began Plavix. Was told that I had so many blockages/narrowings that additional surgical intervention would be fruitless. Had multiple brief blackout spells at 5 mg dosage. Reduced dosage to 2.5 mg, still having significant issues with light-headedness and angina. Reluctant to drive. I cannot tolerate beta blockers (metoprolol among others) due to similar problems with fainting and falling.
Avatar n tn I've been taking amlodipine besylate (norvasc) for about 1 and a half months. For the last couple of weeks I've been experiencing very strong anxieties, panic attacks, and a totally sleepless night. I'd been on testim for years now as well and wonder if either one or a combination can be causing them.
Avatar n tn I was just prescribed amlodipine for my gastritis how ever I can't seem to find any info about it being helpful for that. All the info I have found is about blood pressure. Is this a common prescription? Should I be concerned if I already have low blood pressure?
Avatar m tn At first just general aggravation at the smallest of things.. easily irritated by people and things around me. Then it progressed to dizziness at which point I was concerned about stroke and went to the ER where they ruled that, heart related issues and tumors (they did a CT scan) out. The dizziness and somewhat queezy stomach continued for a couple of weeks, abated somewhat, maybe 75%, and then the tinnitus started both ears.. constant whooshing sound with one very high frequency on top.

Avatar f tn Now all of the sudden my U1-RNP is considered normal at 60? I have not been on any medication this far except vitamin D 50,000 and amlodipine 10mgs 1 per day. I've been having severe muscle weakness. My dr. sent me to a vascular dr. To have a muscle biopsy done. I'm wondering if this weakness is from MCTD or the amlodipine. I also wonder if the amlodipine can cause a positive u1- RNP, I've heard lupus test can become positive due to certain medications. Any thoughts on this?
Avatar f tn My mother currently taking nebivolol 5mg in morning and amlodipine/perindopril 5/8mg in evening for hypertension. Her blood pressure has recently been improved and taking both pills cause low blood pressure, she is also suffering from cough as a side effect from perindopril. I am considering to shift her to nebivolol only but 5 mg once a day is not controlling the blood pressure well. My question is can nebivolol be taken twice a day in 2.
Avatar m tn I am a male 70 years of age. I have been on 150mg Irbesartan and 5mg Amlodipine daily since October 2010. This controlled by BP within acceptable limits. Since late April, however, the systolic has risen to an average of around 150. My doctor wants me to add a beta blocker to the other medications. Since last October my heart rate was averaging below 60. Since late April it is averaging around 70.

Avatar f tn They slightly deviate from normal but normal results of one laboratory to another may be different and this can be responsible to that. Discuss your results with your doctor for proper evaluation. Your medical history and symptoms should be correlated with these results. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn I have problem of BP as well as acute knee pain since last 10 yrs and since last 3/4 months increased too much with swelling on foot- ankles due to increased dosage of Amlodipine-5 mg as pain killer causing increased BP. Now painkillers Dalonat and orecerin gm tablets are not reducing pain and causes cramps in both legs many times.Earlier Numoside with paracitomal used to stop pain for whole day but increased BP to 180/100 so stopped it.
Avatar m tn Episodes increased in frequency and severity. Last year I had another normal tread mill stress test and a normal CT angiogram. Now my chest pain is brought on with exertion, stress and at rest. It wakes me at night. Aggravated by laying flat or drinking cold liquids. It is usually relieved with 1-2, sometimes 3 sublingual nitro, but rarely goes away completely. It varies in quality from sharp pain to pressure in multiple spots in my left chest, neck, shoulder and arm.

Avatar m tn I was on Losartan 50mg which was working fairly well then the nephrologist suggested I switch to Amlodipine 2.5 mg. which he says is better for creatinine levels. I had been taking Amlodipine for a few weeks and BP rose. Doctor has increased to 5 mg. Not sure how long it will take to reduce BP. Has anyone any experience with Amlodipine? How is it? Any adverse side effects?
Avatar f tn My husband usually sacrifices "his orgasm" because the pain afterwards is very bad. Its not in his genital area. It seems like a bad head rush. He must stand up immediately, tilts head backwards as if looking at the ceiling. Then after about 1-2 min of this, he must lie down because he gets sharp pains in arm, shoulder & neck area. He takes bisoprolol hctz 5mg/6.25 and amlodipine 5 mg for high blood pressure. He has had his heart checked(they ran the dye) and no blockage.
Avatar m tn My BP was well-controlled on 100 mg Losartin and 7.5 mg Amlodipine, averaging around 125/68. At peak exertion, during a treadmill stress test recently, my systolic BP reached 215. My cardiologist subbed 5 mg Nebivolol for the Amlodipine due to what he described as exercise-related hypertension. I took this medication for a week and experienced a range of unpleasant side effects, including exhaustion, significant depression and reduced heart rate (mid-60s, compared with my normal mid-80s).
Avatar n tn Are you aware about the combination Valsartan and Amlodipine to treat hypertension in high risk patients? How its is better than Telmisarton and Amlodipine combination?
Avatar f tn They started me on losartan 50 mg and amlodipine 5mg. And for some reason it seams like it is not going down, so I went to the ER and they increased my amlodipine to 10mg and adv me to contact my primary dr that following week. Called the dr that next week and he increased my losartan to 100 mg and amlodipine to 10 mg, 1 each per day. However it seems like my bp is still hanging out around the upper 180's.
Avatar n tn Hi. I have had high blood pressure for years. Like really high -- 190+over 90 very often. So I'm working on taking medication but I have a question about amlodipine. I start with Lisinopril 40mg, but my doctor added amlodipine. It helps but my ankles and legs swell up really bad. Thoughts or suggestions would be helpful. thanks.
20003202 tn?1488258062 (stopped working), now just Amlodipine 10 mg. Since taking the Amlodipine 10 mg. for about a week, my blood pressure keeps going higher and higher. Today readings were between 160/90 - 165/125. Also, my lower legs are sore, I have dizziness and feel light-headed, and are extremely lethargic. Is there any light at the end of the tunnel? Is there a cleaner medication with better results and less side effects. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am desperate....
Avatar m tn Luckily the doctor I went to recognized the blood pressure medicine I was on (Amlodipine) is known for swelling ankles. The brown discoloration is caused by the swelling. I looked it up and swelling of the ankle area was the most prevalent side effect for amlodipine. Thirteen percent of users experienced swelling. I got off amlodipine 2 months ago and have not had an episode of swelling since. It may take years for the brown to totally fade.
