I was just prescribed amlodipine for my gastritis how ever I can't seem to find any info about it being helpful for that. All the info I have found is about blood pressure. Is this a common prescription? Should I be concerned if I already have low blood pressure?
I'm an 87-year-old male. I've been taking Amlodipine 2.5 mg for two weeks and now get bad headaches in the mornings an hour after breakfast at about 9:30 am. I have to take Tylenol to function.
Is there any adverse effect of taking Hydrochlorothiazone12.5mg & Amlodipine 10mg for sudden elevation of glucose level,which I have started facing once I started both the medicines since Feb'18 along with swelled both ankles.
I am a male 70 years of age. I have been on 150mg Irbesartan and 5mg Amlodipine daily since October 2010. This controlled by BP within acceptable limits. Since late April, however, the systolic has risen to an average of around 150. My doctor wants me to add a beta blocker to the other medications. Since last October my heart rate was averaging below 60. Since late April it is averaging around 70.
Have brought a Omron bp monitor,and bp past couple have days still running high at 151/87 in morning and later in day at 158/99. This bp is taken just sitting around house doing nothing.
I'm on Amlodipine 10mg a day. My age is 57 and weight is 205 at 5'8
Should I tell doctor something else needs to be done? I think so.

Are you aware about the combination Valsartan and Amlodipine to treat hypertension in high risk patients? How its is better than Telmisarton and Amlodipine combination?
In the fall of 2008 I was hospitalized for HBP and prescribed amlodipine. After a few years I added benazapryl. This past week (March 2013) my anxiety/panic disorder reached a new high and have been off work and resting for about a week now. I have not started the prescribed Cymbalta yet, decided to do some research.
Hi. I have had high blood pressure for years. Like really high -- 190+over 90 very often. So I'm working on taking medication but I have a question about amlodipine. I start with Lisinopril 40mg, but my doctor added amlodipine. It helps but my ankles and legs swell up really bad. Thoughts or suggestions would be helpful. thanks.
s on Lisinopril 40mg, Glupozide 5 mg, Bisoprolol 5mg, and amlodipine 5 mg. I was wondering if anyone taking amlodipine might have these symptoms. I am thinking this might be a side effect from one of the meds. ??
I'll be interested in input on this question. I've taken Amlodipine for many years and always had a similar heart rate (fast but not out of control). Last April a cardiologist added a beta blocker to help control an intermittent irregular rhythm. It's worked for the arrhythemia but of course has also dropped my heart rate and blood pressure.
I don't like to be on any more meds than really necessary.
They started me on losartan 50 mg and amlodipine 5mg. And for some reason it seams like it is not going down, so I went to the ER and they increased my amlodipine to 10mg and adv me to contact my primary dr that following week. Called the dr that next week and he increased my losartan to 100 mg and amlodipine to 10 mg, 1 each per day. However it seems like my bp is still hanging out around the upper 180's.
Luckily the doctor I went to recognized the blood pressure medicine I was on (Amlodipine) is known for swelling ankles. The brown discoloration is caused by the swelling. I looked it up and swelling of the ankle area was the most prevalent side effect for amlodipine. Thirteen percent of users experienced swelling. I got off amlodipine 2 months ago and have not had an episode of swelling since. It may take years for the brown to totally fade.
Some references said that cilnidipine 10 mg is equivalent to amlodipine 5 mg tablet. Is there any article/journal regarding this dose??
I was on amlodipine for essential HT. Due to pedal edema changed over to Cilnidipine 20 mg . Now BP not getting controlled and followed with too much Ectopic beats.
Hi I've had a positive ANA ranging between 1:80 and 1:160. I have also been testing positive for U1-RNP range considered positive is 81 or higher I was reading at 114. Now all of the sudden my U1-RNP is considered normal at 60? I have not been on any medication this far except vitamin D 50,000 and amlodipine 10mgs 1 per day. I've been having severe muscle weakness. My dr. sent me to a vascular dr. To have a muscle biopsy done.

(probably 4 years ago) taken 2 times daily, I have had three episodes of severe nausea with vomiting coming on suddenly. When I went to ER my bp was in the area of 190/105. Most recent episode in mid-March. Fine the next day except for mild tiredness. ER doctors have diagnosed as either an anxiety attack, or most recently, Vertigo. B.P. is brought back to normal ranges over a 2 or 3 hour period. Could this be related to the Metoprolol? I am somewhat sensitive to other medications.
As anyone had the stress test the two parts myacardial perfusion scan after 4 weeks the cardiologist sent a prescription for asprin , isosirbide monitrate, amlodipine antrovastatin said my scan was 15% what does this mean is this not too bad medium or high risk don’t see him for another 2 months sldo can I have a few drinks on them as Iv not had a drink I just wondered people on these meds if they have a few drinks now n again thank you in advance x
I am on 100 mg of Metoprolol (and 5 mg of Amlodipine) for high blood pressure. My pulse gets down to 44-48 but I do not feel faint. Should my Amlodipine be increased and my Metoprolol reduced since beta blockers reduce pulse rate?
Things move a little slowly in the BP world, and I guess you are seeing your doc for review in 6 to 8 weeks? You need to be patient, your system will slowly adjust to the tables somewhat, over time. If your numbers are high, you need the meds.
If I were you, i would insist on a 24 hour ABPM test. its a little annoying, but is not expensive. This will give a full 24 hour profile of your bp averages for a full day.
