My cardiologist subbed 5 mg Nebivolol for the Amlodipine due to what he described as exercise-related hypertension. I took this medication for a week and experienced a range of unpleasant side effects, including exhaustion, significant depression and reduced heart rate (mid-60s, compared with my normal mid-80s).
I've been off the Nebivolol for five days, but I'm still experiencing these side effects. My heart rate has only come back to about 67-68.
And for some reason it seams like it is not going down, so I went to the ER and they increased my amlodipine to 10mg and adv me to contact my primary dr that following week. Called the dr that next week and he increased my losartan to 100 mg and amlodipine to 10 mg, 1 each per day. However it seems like my bp is still hanging out around the upper 180's. I take Vyvanse and also duloxetine 1 time daily also, could those be helping my bp stay high?
I had been taking Amlodipine for a few weeks and BP rose. Doctor has increased to 5 mg. Not sure how long it will take to reduce BP. Has anyone any experience with Amlodipine? How is it? Any adverse side effects?
Hi I've had a positive ANA ranging between 1:80 and 1:160. I have also been testing positive for U1-RNP range considered positive is 81 or higher I was reading at 114. Now all of the sudden my U1-RNP is considered normal at 60? I have not been on any medication this far except vitamin D 50,000 and amlodipine 10mgs 1 per day. I've been having severe muscle weakness. My dr. sent me to a vascular dr. To have a muscle biopsy done.
I am getting tired already tho and having back/ hip pain so hoping I can last that long at work. Work as long as I your body will let you.
A friend of mine who had just started having panic attacks a few months ago told me his doctor switched him from amlodipine to beta blockers (which are also prescribed for anxiety, like stage fright) and the panic attacks are GONE. That got me to thinking. Although I was always high strung, I had never had a panic attack or ongoing anxiety before I started Amlodipine. My first full-blown panic attack occurred on Jan. 1, 2009!
Some references said that cilnidipine 10 mg is equivalent to amlodipine 5 mg tablet. Is there any article/journal regarding this dose??
I was just prescribed amlodipine for my gastritis how ever I can't seem to find any info about it being helpful for that. All the info I have found is about blood pressure. Is this a common prescription? Should I be concerned if I already have low blood pressure?

Hi Buster, Hang in there! I know how you feel! I took myself off 10mg Lisinopril about 2 years ago because it was causing excruciating muscle aches and foggy headedness. Within 72 hours of coming off it the fog lifted and the pain in joints and muscles subsided dramatically. I now think it also contributed to my OCD; made my usually symptoms worse, possibly. Can't prove it of course. But I can tell you after getting off the Lisinopril my compulsive on-line shopping dropped off dramatically.
My pulse gets down to 44-48 but I do not feel faint. Should my Amlodipine be increased and my Metoprolol reduced since beta blockers reduce pulse rate?
Are you aware about the combination Valsartan and Amlodipine to treat hypertension in high risk patients? How its is better than Telmisarton and Amlodipine combination?
Thanks remar, the meds I'm taking is hydrochloric thiazides 25mg(for a month now no affect) so he added amlodipine 5mg(just started today) to go with it. I'm hoping I can get it down soon, does anyone know how long I have before it does something tragic or does something perminatly wrong to my body? Cause so far the first meds did not work, I only took half of my amlodipine today to see if I'd have any strong side affects, but will take the whole 5mg tomorrow.

Don't listen to render. He is just trying to scare you. It's a huge jump from having a headache to having cancer and everyone's symptoms are different anyway.
Has your DH seen a doctor about it? Maybe the headache is due to anxiety. It could also be excitement. Stress from work can cause the tension and the release from ejaculation may be causing the headaches. Could it maybe be subconscious?

My ankles swelled from time to time and got brown patches that did not itch. Luckily the doctor I went to recognized the blood pressure medicine I was on (Amlodipine) is known for swelling ankles. The brown discoloration is caused by the swelling. I looked it up and swelling of the ankle area was the most prevalent side effect for amlodipine. Thirteen percent of users experienced swelling. I got off amlodipine 2 months ago and have not had an episode of swelling since.
I have being told to continue sertraline and use diazepam as and when needed but to also take 1 amlodipine 5mg daily ro bring the bp down and that these were extremely safe wirh the only real side effect being swelling of ankles but to go back if that happens.
I have come home and tested my bp and it is averaging about 130/90 but have being looking online about this amlodipine and seen people even call it poison.

If they go brown then vascular causes also need to be ruled out. The other possibility is of lichen simplex chronicus. To confirm the diagnosis, I suggest you to get it evaluated from a dermatologist.

I Do feel good during the day of working and working out and i sleep fairly well for my age. Im begining to think that once you start on these bp meds it hard to get off them. Ive also wean off my meds as I'm doing the natural supplements but bp still elevated. When im on just my meds bp is stable. Im just concerned about long term affects of these meds. ive been on these for about 7 years. I just had a physical and all my other numbers are really good Do you have any suggestions?
