I've been taking amlodipine besylate (norvasc) for about 1 and a half months. For the last couple of weeks I've been experiencing very strong anxieties, panic attacks, and a totally sleepless night. I'd been on testim for years now as well and wonder if either one or a combination can be causing them.
t clear up within half hour so off the ER I went. Blood pressure was 176/125 and ct scan did not show anything unusual.
My blood pressure has been controlled for years with typical readings around 118/70 using the Valsartan, Amlodipine 5mg, and a diuretic (hydrochlorothiazide 25mg). I have not made the change yet.
1. Why should I agree to experiment with reducing my primary blood pressure medication and what are the risks?

2. How long should it take before I see changes (if any) in typical blood pressure readings?
I was just prescribed amlodipine for my gastritis how ever I can't seem to find any info about it being helpful for that. All the info I have found is about blood pressure. Is this a common prescription? Should I be concerned if I already have low blood pressure?
I was on Losartan 50mg which was working fairly well then the nephrologist suggested I switch to Amlodipine 2.5 mg. which he says is better for creatinine levels. I had been taking Amlodipine for a few weeks and BP rose. Doctor has increased to 5 mg. Not sure how long it will take to reduce BP. Has anyone any experience with Amlodipine? How is it? Any adverse side effects?
I am a male 70 years of age. I have been on 150mg Irbesartan and 5mg Amlodipine daily since October 2010. This controlled by BP within acceptable limits. Since late April, however, the systolic has risen to an average of around 150. My doctor wants me to add a beta blocker to the other medications. Since last October my heart rate was averaging below 60. Since late April it is averaging around 70.
So I was put on amlodipine 10mg and Propranolol 40mg on 1st July 2016. This helped lower my blood pressure to around 115/68. Only problem is that it makes me feel quite tired after little activity like walking. After complaining about this tiredness to the doctor yesterday, he changed my drugs to 100mg Losartan (1 tablet per day) and 25mg Atenolol (2 tablets per day).
i am 54 yr old lady ,i have hypertention from many years for which taking medicine amlodipine basilate IP 50mg but from few weeks there was flactuation in my blood pressure sometimes it went on lower side and sometimes normal then i consulted my physician he reduced the dose to 25mg and ask me to eat things when you feel low,i did the same but 6-7 days back i measured my BP at home, it was on lower side and i to was feeling very dull and low so i had something to eat still had no relief and slow
My half sister is on Bp meds an she's just 26, we have the same mom diff dads. My dad is black I don't know him so he could of ha high Bp too possibly. I took it after going to walmarts 176/93 didn't wait anytime. Then I took it again 5 mins later 153/86 then a few mins later after resting it wa 146/84....still high I know but I'm on meds just started the 2nd one today.... Seems like my body's so stressed and i get anxious easy...

I've been suffering from liver failure disease for 15 years cause homeopathic med reaction. Now for 1year main symptoms unable eat much. before eating i think i can eat 1 plate but eating half i can't more. But, i can eat breakfast enough, not meal & dinner. Is symptoms of cirrhosis or anything. your valuable suggestion would be most appreciated. In this condition, milk thistle (harbal med) is effective for liver cirrhosis?
Other than the nitro I am on 10mg of Amlodipine (for about a week) and 1,000 mg of L-Arginine (which I read is good for small vessel disease). I have not been told I am have small vessel disease, but am operating under that assumption. My chest pain has gotten worse and I am profoundly short of breath since increasing the Amlodipine from 5mg to 10mg. My Cardiologist is very disinterested in pursuing this. He has not come out and called me a liar, but treats me like I am making things up.
Hi, my mother is 76 yrs old and has been taking a pill called Envas for high blood pressure control for 15 yrs now. It irritated her throat. So she changed to Amlopress (amlodipine) table - half daily - on another doctor's advice. Her blood pressure (systolic) seems to be rising every day. Yesterday it was 150/80 and today it was 170/80. She is active in managing her home - like cooking, washing clothes and so on. She doesn't exercise beyond that because of her knee arthritis.
Are you aware about the combination Valsartan and Amlodipine to treat hypertension in high risk patients? How its is better than Telmisarton and Amlodipine combination?
They started me on losartan 50 mg and amlodipine 5mg. And for some reason it seams like it is not going down, so I went to the ER and they increased my amlodipine to 10mg and adv me to contact my primary dr that following week. Called the dr that next week and he increased my losartan to 100 mg and amlodipine to 10 mg, 1 each per day. However it seems like my bp is still hanging out around the upper 180's.
Hi. I have had high blood pressure for years. Like really high -- 190+over 90 very often. So I'm working on taking medication but I have a question about amlodipine. I start with Lisinopril 40mg, but my doctor added amlodipine. It helps but my ankles and legs swell up really bad. Thoughts or suggestions would be helpful. thanks.
Just monitor your BP at home and make adjustments as needed. Caffeine has a half life of about 5 hours so the BP will drop at that point.
