I am starting to give him home made food for cats with CRF. After the first day of fluids his BUN 85, creatinine 4.5, phos 5.8 and calcium 10.4. He is anemic and amylase is 1675. He had an urine anlysis and it showed the urine was dilute. Is there anything else that I can do for him, could acupuncture help, if so I live in CA so would need to know where I could find a good holistic vet.
I was just prescribed amlodipine for my gastritis how ever I can't seem to find any info about it being helpful for that. All the info I have found is about blood pressure. Is this a common prescription? Should I be concerned if I already have low blood pressure?
I’ve been taking 10 mg of amlodipine now for two weeks, after taking 5 mg for the month prior to that. Have not experienced headaches from either dosage.
Have you used Valsartan for treatment of hypertension patients in high risk patients? Are you aware about the combination Valsartan and Amlodipine to treat hypertension in high risk patients? How its is better than Telmisarton and Amlodipine combination?
They started me on losartan 50 mg and amlodipine 5mg. And for some reason it seams like it is not going down, so I went to the ER and they increased my amlodipine to 10mg and adv me to contact my primary dr that following week. Called the dr that next week and he increased my losartan to 100 mg and amlodipine to 10 mg, 1 each per day. However it seems like my bp is still hanging out around the upper 180's.
If your doctor still thinks everything is okay, then try support socks/stockings. I've been on BP meds, including olmesartan/hydrochlorothiazide, and I still need to wear support socks. I have a pair for light support and a pair for moderate support for days when I'll be on my feet a lot. This also helps my ankle pain.

I looked it up and swelling of the ankle area was the most prevalent side effect for amlodipine. Thirteen percent of users experienced swelling. I got off amlodipine 2 months ago and have not had an episode of swelling since. It may take years for the brown to totally fade.

I have recently been prescribed Amlodipine-Benaz 5/10 MG capsules for treatment of hypertension. However, my resting pulse rate has consistently been in the 90's and increasing into the 100's at time, so I have been prescribed Carvedilol to help control the heart rate. My question is, doesn't Carvedilol control hypertension as well...Why should I be taking carvedilol in addition to amliodipine?
is it harmful in anyway to switch from amlodipine 10mg to lisinopril 10mg?
Some references said that cilnidipine 10 mg is equivalent to amlodipine 5 mg tablet. Is there any article/journal regarding this dose??
The best way to find out, if this works for you, is to actually try it for several weeks. My suggestion is to go grain, sugar and dairy free.
The effects of gluten, unfortunately may linger around for a long time, even if improvement is experienced early.

I was on amlodipine for essential HT. Due to pedal edema changed over to Cilnidipine 20 mg . Now BP not getting controlled and followed with too much Ectopic beats.
I was prescrbed metoprolol 50mg and amlodipine 5mg. I have been taking this medine for a year. I have been regularly checking my BP ever since. It comes to 130/75mm/hg within a month. But Still I am taking the same dosage.
My worry is : Is metoprolol and amlodipine safe to take?Since I am 38 only what would be its long term effects. That is taking the drug for over 30 years? Finally whether the dosage may be changed? Please help.
Have been on amlodipine and quinapril for about 6-7 years as well as other meds. My blood tests came back fine except for my RDW which is elevated. My NT-ProBNP was only at 6 pmol/L so very low. The Cardiologist immediately ruled out coronary disease - he said I was too young (40yrs old). Said it could be Atypical Angina that was causing the chest pain but no way to test accurately due to my age and said he he could not tell me it wasn't PAH.
yes they ALL have side effects on us and cats as well....the safest with the least side effects for pain are the following(for cats). please never use NSAID's.
-bupronorphine(buprenex)
-butorphanel(torbutrol)
-and lastly tramadol(ultram)

As anyone had the stress test the two parts myacardial perfusion scan after 4 weeks the cardiologist sent a prescription for asprin , isosirbide monitrate, amlodipine antrovastatin said my scan was 15% what does this mean is this not too bad medium or high risk don’t see him for another 2 months sldo can I have a few drinks on them as Iv not had a drink I just wondered people on these meds if they have a few drinks now n again thank you in advance x
