readings is very good, 110/70. But eversince I started the Norvasc, my left leg is swelling and it is becoming worst. I'd like to ask my Doctor to discontinue the Norvasc. Is there any other calcium blocker that doesn't cause swelling? I've already taken Zestril (ace inhibitor) with the Diovan before. My feet and ankles swell up every couple of days to a week. My sugar is good, blood pressure is great, I'm not pregnant. I also am not sitting or standing for long periods of time. The only sodium in my diet is from canned veggies and fruit. To lower the sodium from this source, I drain and rinse the veggies. Waiting on my blood tests for hormone levels, vitamin levels and other stuff. I also do not drink diet sodas, or use artificial sweeteners.

Hi. I have had high blood pressure for years. Like really high -- 190+over 90 very often. So I'm working on taking medication but I have a question about amlodipine. I start with Lisinopril 40mg, but my doctor added amlodipine. It helps but my ankles and legs swell up really bad. Thoughts or suggestions would be helpful. thanks.

Also sometimes the feet get hyper sensitive with the surface skin nerves, feet can go red sometimes, and if I brush my hand over my feet it is like a mild electric shock, also feel the same effect when putting on socks. My solution has been to take only one tablet every other day, by missing out a day, and that has helped minimise these weird uncomfortable side effects. Can you tell me what is going on with my feet. I've got bad swelling. As long as you put your feet up high and you drink lots of water you should be fine. If you get a headache that won't respond to Tylenol or feel like your blood pressure is high then I'd go in.

I'm 20 weeks today and my feet have been swelling for a couple months now. I am on them 12 hours a day. It's killing me. I come home in tears two out of for days and they swell so bad my ankles actually bruise. My Dr said to watch my sodium intake that has a lot to do with it.
