My doctor has just changed my medication from Amlodipine to Ramipril 4 weeks ago. My dose has increased from 2.5 to 5.0 My blood pressure is lower in the morning and evening generally but recently has been erratic. I have headaches, feel nauseous, tired and have chest discomfort. Is this normal. Please help.
I was also given a glyceryl trinitrate spray to use when I got the pain and before exercise, now this stops the pain and tightness. I was recently put on amlodipine and stopped my ramipril. Now since starting the amlodipine I no longer get the chest pain.Im wondering if this could mean I do have angina and what further test should I ask for to confirm?
Hello, Your blood pressure is obviously high but you have started with the lifestyle modification with exercise and dietary changes. Moreover ACE inhibitor drugs like Ramipril is a good antihypertensive and should lower the blood pressure. However ensure that you take this drug regularly as prescribed and get your blood pressure monitored at regular intervals.
I take the following medications – Metformin, Pioglitazone, Victoza (liraglutide), Amlodipine, Ramipril, Bendroflumethiazide, Asprin and Statin. I have a strange and embareasin problem. I hope someone out there may be able to offer some insight. I have always had sensitive nipples but in the last few days sensitivity in my left nipple has gone crazy. I can barely stand to have anything touch the nipple – even wearning a shirt is uncomfortable.

My cholesterol and blood pressure are both high (blood pressure has improved this week since my GP increased the Ramipril to 10mg and added Amlodipine 5mg). Does anyone else get a red face?
So the Dr said he suspected a prob with my coronary arteries and that my heart was getting enough blood, he told me to avoid strenuous exercises like running but rather should continue with tennis and walking or slow jogging and to rest anytime I feel discomfort. He placed on amlodipine 10mg, ramipril, isordil (nitrate) clopidogrel 75mg and moduretic. He told me to stop atenolol for now until we are sure of what really happened.

I also use to other drugs to treat hyper tension as well as a rapid heart beat. Amlodipine 10 mg and Ramipril 15 mg. I knew that it has an effect on ED, but I also have low testosterone as well as a neurogenic bladder. I thought that this was the cause of the ED. Thank you for bringing the Propranolol to my attention. I will ask my urologist on Wednessday when I have a follow up cystoscopy.
I'm 46 years old. I have been taking medication (Ramipril 2.5mg, Amlodipine 5mg) for essential hypertension for the past 7 years. Blood pressure is normal whenever I get it tested. Is it necessary to continue this medication for the rest of my life. My doctor says that any change or reduction of medication is to be considered only after regular and more frequent(daily) blood pressure monitoring. Presently I'm not in a position to get it monitiored.

After a severe hypertensive episode on 12/5/05 (180/112 blood pressure), I was prescribed and have been taking ever since, Amlodipine (Norvasc) (1 5 mg tablet per day) and Ramipril (Altace) (1 2.5 mg capsule per day). A CT-Angiogram was also performed on 12/8/05 to rule out renovascular hypertension as the cause of my blood pressure. The findings were normal. Also, several blood and urine tests have been taken to rule out pheochromocytoma, multiple myeloma, and carcinoid tumors.

I am on Atenolol...and a healthy dose...50 mg in the morning..and 50 mg at night. I have read posts here where people really have trouble with it, but I just love it. It keeps my heartrate down---and (most...well...some..) of the time it helps with the palpitations. I had some dizziness when I first started taking it, but thats it. Not one other side effect. I was also on Lipitor a year ago...It really worked, and I had zero side effects from that. Hope this helps!
They are not sharp pains but more of a constant 'throb' and can go on for hours. Pain relief medication does nothing and the only relief I can get at all is the application of something topical like '4-Head' or the American 'Head-On'. Although I have been a reasonably 'active' drinker in the past, if anything now, at the age of 61 (male), I rarely have more than two drinks at a time ... which is why I'm surprised at the onset of these headaches.
