amlodipine and calcium supplements

I am using 2.5mg of Amlodipine (Calcium Channel Blocker) and 5mg of Bisoprolol(Beta Blocker) to treat my hypertension. I noticed when I took a calcium supplement that I felt real "hyper" and had heart races at night. I stopped the supplements but now I get the same reaction if I drink a large glass of milk. I also have side affects of reaccuring vivid nightmares. I have an upcoming physical, my doctor does not believe me.

I am a male 70 years of age. I have been on 150mg Irbesartan and 5mg Amlodipine daily since October 2010. This controlled by BP within acceptable limits. Since late April, however, the systolic has risen to an average of around 150. My doctor wants me to add a beta blocker to the other medications. Since last October my heart rate was averaging below 60. Since late April it is averaging around 70.

I was on amlodipine for essential HT. Due to pedal edema changed over to Cilnidipine 20 mg . Now BP not getting controlled and followed with too much Ectopic beats.

I had been taking Amlodipine for a few weeks and BP rose. Doctor has increased to 5 mg. Not sure how long it will take to reduce BP. Has anyone any experience with Amlodipine? How is it? Any adverse side effects?

I had symptoms within hours after surgery but I was able to stop the calcium within a couple weeks and my calcium levels are fine.

I am taking Amlodipine (Norvasc) 5mg and occasionally my legs and ankles (on both legs and never the leg itself) will swell to the point that my shoes will no longer fit, but the the swelling will go down for a while (a week, two weeks perhaps) until it happens again.

Hi I've had a positive ANA ranging between 1:80 and 1:160. I have also been testing positive for U1-RNP range considered positive is 81 or higher I was reading at 114. Now all of the sudden my U1-RNP is considered normal at 60? I have not been on any medication this far except vitamin D 50,000 and amlodipine 10mgs 1 per day. I've been having severe muscle weakness. My dr. sent me to a vascular dr. To have a muscle biopsy done.

So calcium supplements are prescribed along with femara.There are few studies that do suggest that calcium supplements increase the risk of heart attacks. Discuss it with your doctor. Any drug should be taken only if the advantages outweigh the potential risks involved in taking it. I'm taking a water tablets for my high calcium problem, and doctor did not tell me this would cause a low postasssium problem,and getting more tired and weaker by the day, and the dizzy spells are returning, so hoping taking Mag, and Potassium supplements would help,,and experience here

I would like to know if there are some good alternatives to calcium channel blockers. Brief background - MI in 1998 followed by stent placement. Multiple hospitalizations since for angina. Had three more stents placed (RCA, LAD, circumflex). Rotoblator procedure done. Bypass (5 grafts) done 1/09. Two grafts failed and another stent place in bypassed RCA 7/09. Was switched from lisinopril to amlodipine. Began Plavix.

Now, she has many complications of Diabetes including Diabetes Neuropathy, eyes issues like cataracts, osteoarthritis etc. she also has complications in her back/spine. Don't take calcium supplements even tums too close to the time of taking your prenatals. Calcium slows the absorption of iron.

Hi there. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker and Propranolol is a beta blocker. Often medics are cautious when a Beta blocker is being stopped(Especially on higher doses). But in this case you have just changed to a different beta blocker (Atenolol) There should be no -problem. I have been around the block with lots of different bp meds. The one certainty is that they ALL have side effects.Some worse than others.

Hello. I have celiac disease, a salicylate intolerance AND milk allergy. My blood test showed my milk allergy is considered moderate. I am currently taking NOW foods calcium carbonate powder because it's free of gluten..supposedly free of dairy..and it's pure mineral so it doesn't effect my salicylate intolerance (which comes from plants). I re-introduced turnip into my diet recently but i also started using this calcium powder at the same time.

Has anyone else heard that taking magnesium and calcium supplements can limit the effectiveness of Doxycycline? I am a non-dairy person and need my extra calcium supplement, but have put it aside until I am done with the meds for a while. I read this somewhere, but was wondering if you might have too.

The doctor recommended vitamin D, E supplements and some tablets for the esinophil which I completed the entire course. Another doctor recommended sertagress - 25 (Sertaline HCL 25 mg) and Ativan 1 mg (lorazepam 1 mg) tablets which I took for 6 months but they were not helping, had nasty side effects and I still had sleep issues, thus I tapered them off over 3 months. I am no longer taking sertagress or any sleep medicine.
