920737 tn?1250348210 Reduced dosage to 2.5 mg, still having significant issues with light-headedness and angina. Reluctant to drive. I cannot tolerate beta blockers (metoprolol among others) due to similar problems with fainting and falling. I could tolerate lisinopril OK - still some postural hypotension but I can live with it. Since beta blockers seem to be out and amlodopine's side effects are almost intolerable, I'm looking for alternatives. Perhaps back to ace inhibitors again?
Avatar m tn Other than the nitro I am on 10mg of Amlodipine (for about a week) and 1,000 mg of L-Arginine (which I read is good for small vessel disease). I have not been told I am have small vessel disease, but am operating under that assumption. My chest pain has gotten worse and I am profoundly short of breath since increasing the Amlodipine from 5mg to 10mg. My Cardiologist is very disinterested in pursuing this. He has not come out and called me a liar, but treats me like I am making things up.
Avatar m tn Two medicated stents were later inserted. Presently, I am regularly taking Asprin, Clopedogrel, Rosuvastatin, Atenolol and Amlodipine. My blood pressure, except for once shooting up to 170/110, remains around 125/85. I am now fully active. How this happened ? Now, I have again started having low grade pain in the left wrist and forearm, without any corresponding pain in the upper arm or the chest. Can this be a Referred Angina Pain?
Avatar m tn There are 2 other medications that work well for angina that I would usually start prior to Ranexa which are Imdur (Isosorbide mononitrate) or Norvasc (Amlodipine) which can both help with angina and coronary vasospasm (spasm of the large and small vessels which give blood to the heart) which you may possible have.
Avatar m tn Have been on amlodipine and quinapril for about 6-7 years as well as other meds. My blood tests came back fine except for my RDW which is elevated. My NT-ProBNP was only at 6 pmol/L so very low. The Cardiologist immediately ruled out coronary disease - he said I was too young (40yrs old). Said it could be Atypical Angina that was causing the chest pain but no way to test accurately due to my age and said he he could not tell me it wasn't PAH.
Avatar m tn Showed mild RAE and Moderate LAE and my RV was upper limits of normal. Have been on amlodipine and quinapril for about 6-7 years as well as other meds. Avatar f tn Sexual activity is not recommended in patients with heart failure, unstable angina, recent heart attacks, abnormal heart rates and changes in blood pressure levels. Sildenafil exerts systemic vasodilating action causing a lowering of blood pressure. This effect is not clinically significant and does not cause any complaints in most of the patients.
Avatar m tn He did however prescribe her Amlodipine 5mg and advised her to rest in bed for the remainder of the holiday and to stay out of the sun. We returned to our house in SW France and my children had made an appointment with a local renowned Cardiologist for the following day. After more tests, ECG etc. he also found nothing of concern.
1102792 tn?1285925260 I am currently taking atenolol, captopril, amlodipine, aspirin, isordil and moduretic, i drink and smoke moderately, could it be a drug interraction
Avatar f tn that may be due in part to taking care of yourself. Medication to relieve angina relaxes and dilates coronary arteries...the dilatation may be an opening as large or larger than a stent.
Avatar f tn 5 about one week ago and takes three bp meds; atenonol 25 mg, diovan hct 325/12.5, amlodipine besylate 5mg, also started Ranexa 5 weeks ago 500mg twice a day (for angina). His bp now is 110/60 range but with the dizziness on Monday it was 84/52. Would the nitro patch cause the diziness? He is to wear the patch for 12 hours and take it off at bedtime. He has had 3 angioplasty's with a total of 7 stents in the last 7 months and he is also diabetic with good control.
1704227 tn?1307475144 I have Coronary Artery Disease, Angina and Lupus and for three weeks now I've been having coronary artery spasms averaging 1-2 spasms every hour. I spent 6 days in the hospital and was just discharged 2 days ago. After many, many EKG's that were normal (except one that showed activity of spasms), and having 2 more stints placed in one of my arteries (now totaling 5 stints), my cardiologists are still puzzled and confused as to why this is happening and why they won't stop.
Avatar m tn I am hypertensive for the last 2-3 years and had a BP of 150/100. The doctor has now put me on Telmisartan 40 mg and Amlodipine 5 mg (it is one tablet per day) for 2 weeks. LVID-d : 3.92mm, LVID-s : 2.06 mm, LVPW-d : 1.22 mm, LVPW-s:1.64 mm, IVS-s : 1.11 mm, IVS-d : 1.27 mm, EF-70%. Normal LV Systolic function (EF 70%).
Avatar m tn I am 45 years with good health. My blood pressure is on a higher side 140/90 and is on amlodipine 5 mg for last 7-8 years. The hiccup syndrome started about 6-7 yeas back. It is very annoying and and forces me to take off from office. Can someone suggest the reason for the continous hiccup during cold. I do not get such hiccups on normal days, except when a eat any extreme spicy food.
Avatar f tn Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker indicated for hypertension. The S form of amlodipine is said to be responsible for dilation of blood vessels and lowering of blood pressure. The S- isomer of amlodipine or Asomex® is being studied in clinical trials and may lead to side effects such as fatigue or tiredness, dizziness or fainting, headache, flushing, or swelling of the legs or ankles. Side effects of amlodipine are generally mild and reversible.
Avatar n tn I was just prescribed amlodipine for my gastritis how ever I can't seem to find any info about it being helpful for that. All the info I have found is about blood pressure. Is this a common prescription? Should I be concerned if I already have low blood pressure?
Avatar n tn Does the nitrate relieve the chest pain? The diagnosis of coronary artery spasm has taken on new significance because of the marketing in this country of a new class of drugs, such as nifedipine, called calcium channel blockers. These drugs have afforded dramatic relief in spasm-induced angina. Patients were treated with calcium channel blockers such as diltiazem, amlodipine, nifedipine, and benidipine.

Avatar m tn I am a male 70 years of age. I have been on 150mg Irbesartan and 5mg Amlodipine daily since October 2010. This controlled by BP within acceptable limits. Since late April, however, the systolic has risen to an average of around 150. My doctor wants me to add a beta blocker to the other medications. Since last October my heart rate was averaging below 60. Since late April it is averaging around 70.
Avatar m tn I was put on lisinopril and amlodipine. Ever since I started taking these medications my ocd has been totally out of control. There are rituals and image problems that I have never had before and it's really getting worse. Does anyone here have anxiety problems along with HBP and the medications have made them worse? Doctors don't believe me but I know my own mind and how different it is since I went on these medications.
