Common Questions and Answers about Ambien withdrawal duration

ambien

Avatar n tn If taken for a longer duration, one may develop dependence on ambien. You should discuss with your doctor about the risks of taking ambient for 2 weeks or longer. Ambien addiction is a serious problem requiring treatment. The signs of ambien withdrawal are insomnia, fatigue, sweating, stomach cramps, and panic attacks. You should consult your doctor to seek appropriate professional treatment if you want to discontinue Ambien. You should not attempt to stop taking them on your own.
Avatar m tn At day 19 I thought I would be completely finished with these xanax wd's but they keep coming and coming. Late last night I watched a commercial about Lunesta and they mentioned that a common side effect was new or worsening depression. That caught my attention so I began to frantically research Ambien and every article I've read lists new or worssening depression as a common side effect. I've been taking Ambien off & on for the past 2 years..usually only 1/2 a tablet.

The recommended duration of Ambien therapy is generally 7 to 10 days. • You may need a lower dose of Ambien if you take other medicines that make you sleepy (such as cold medicine, pain medication, muscle relaxants, and medicine for depression or anxiety). • The safety of immediate release tablets has only been established for treatment regimens of up to five weeks.
Avatar f tn I would have to agree that you should never take medication issues like these into your own hands. It does depend on the dosage and the duration of time you were on it, but why would you just stop 'cold turkey,' especially if you thought that it was working? Were you having side effects you did not like?
Avatar n tn My question is about the length or duration of the last of the withdrawal symptoms from percocet. I am into week four of no percoset ( went through a rapid detox program three weeks ago) and I still have chills, muscle tension, a little ringing in the years, and some general spaceiness. I know everybody is different, but if I could get some idea of what to expect, I would appreciate it.
Avatar n tn My poor husband took me to doctors, medical tests, etc....The neurologist thought it was ambien withdrawal but the others weren't so sure since people go on and off ambien all the time....It took about 6 months to return to normal. If you are one of those who has this reaction, hope you have a large support network, and a faith community which helps tremendously. Just remember, you aren't going crazy, and you will have ups and downs in your recovery.

Avatar f tn How long does ambien withdrawal last? I have been off of it for 3 -1/2 months and struggle terribly w/ insomnia. I was on it for 4-1/2 months and it made me very sick with gastrointestinal problems, acid reflux, burning swellingin mouth, white tongue, etc. Doc did not diagnose, and said my symptoms were all caused by anxiety.
Avatar f tn Hey Shiann, I am not familiar with Ambien withdrawal. I was taking percocets but I am here if you need to talk.
18070169 tn?1463175914 re right, a ct off ambien cr is not recommended ... or ambien i think. i believe that ambien is not a true benzodiazepine but it acts like one / is similar. getting off both is very, very difficult, and you need a lot of patience. except the eye thing, most of your symptoms sound like things i went through as well, though i was ct'ing off benzos at the same time.
Avatar n tn How long and intense will withdrawal be if I stop 4-5 vicodin a day that I have taken regularly for months?
Avatar m tn Hi everybody - Day 21 for me no Hydro. Things are looking brighter. Still have bouts of anxiety and depression and wake up about every 2 hours during the night.... I had a little run-in with Ambien along the way. Took 10mg for 12 nights then realized it was really making me crazy, and probably hurting my Hydo my withdrawal progression. Stopping the Ambien had it's own set of unpleasant withdrawal symptoms.... My Doc says I should be back to normal in about 4 weeks.
Avatar f tn If you use it to help with withdrawals such as insomnia, that's what it sounds like you asking, you're only substituting another drug in place of the other(s) . Then again, it's probably worked as a 'bridge' for some people to make the withdrawal easier. But as mentioned above, it is addicting and often just prolongs the process more.
Avatar n tn I was on 1.5 mgs of lorazepam, went down to 1 mg a day and was sleeping fine at first, now I'm having more anxiety and having trouble sleeping. I'ts been about a month. I am tempted to go back up to 1.5 again but i'm trying to remain strong. I'm even having to use some ambien to sleep and i'ts starting not to help. How long will this go on? and will my sleep pattern come back? Is it possible the withdrawls are actually getting worse?
Avatar f tn If you are missing out on time awake to join in on life, then yes I would encourage you to withdraw. I took ambien for the first few nights of my first withdrawal from opiates but I have no idea what to expect with ambien.. Keep posting and someone may relate or we will all support you in your decision to get off ambien.
Avatar f tn After Ambien and Lunesta quit cold on me (due to the hormone change), I have been taking 1 ambien and 150 mg. of Trazadone for 3 nights now. I started with one Ambien and 50 mg. of Trazadone, then second night, I couldn't sleep so my regular doctor said to adjust dosage to 1 Ambien and 100 mg.. Third night I had to use 1 ambien and 150 mg. of Trazadone according to doctor's prescription of 1 to 3 tablets of Trazadone.
Avatar m tn Hi and welcome, Ambien works the exact same way as benzos. If you looked up Ambien Withdrawal you'll find it's very rough to get off of. But I bet if you resumed your Ambien just as your doctor prescribed, it will eventually build back up in your system and let you sleep again. I have to admit, I'm like you and I second guess my doctor, but he always seems to know best. A couple of years ago I was on Ambien 10mg for just 9 months and it took me 4 months to taper off of it.
Avatar n tn In an attempt to ward off tolerance to Lunesta, I now alternate ( 2 weeks at a time) between Lunesta 3mg and zolpiedem ( Ambien) Since the zolpiedem has a much shorter 1/2 life than the Lunesta, I take 5mg about 11:30 and another 5mg at 3:00 or whenever I awake. The Lunesta usually allows for 6-7 hours of continuous sleep.
Avatar m tn It appears to be similar in efficacy and like Ambien is meant for short term use only. Unless you've tried it Rozerem is one alternative that unlike Ambien or the medication you mentioned or Lunesta does not have a potential for a person to build up a tolerance to it and is an FDA approved medication that works like melatonin to adjust the sleep cycle. You could ask your psychiatrist about that.
491910 tn?1209366193 then 30...and so on until its 5 then jump off. I have ambien, rozerem scripts myself but stopped the ambien and made it a once a week or less thing because it can be bad news. You might want to see if the Dr will switch you to say lunesta and see if you can use that while getting off ambien or when you tapered low enough to jump and switch. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Personally, I do not recommend ambien. It seems like your mind is sensitive already, and ambien may make your nights even worse. I never hallucinationed, but I did sleep walk, did things I don't remember and it created much more anxiety for me the next day. Does your doctor know about what you are seeing at night?
