I'm only about 5-6 weeks I'm on prescribed adderall 40mg daily and Ambien 10mg at bedtime.
Has anyone been on these medications while being pregnant? I'm very concerned about my baby being affected. My doctors says it's ok to continue taking these medications......

My doc said he had no time to deal with insurance companies and he said that if he did it for me I could only be allowed a 10 days supply and not a month due to use for short term use only. So was given ALPRAZOLAM XANAX for my sleep and insomnia. Was told that in one week if it does not work I will get something different.
Also, remember, that you can build a tolerance up with xanax...If you are still concerned, why not talk with your pharmacist that fills your prescription? They usually have a wealth of knowledge that you can tap into in my opinion. I have used it a couple of times and it worked...just ensure you have a fairly good chunk of time blocked off for sleep. Are you on any other medication presently except Ambien? There is lot of mixed reaction from the users of Zolpidem to help sleep, it has done wonders in few people while few are not satisfied with its use or the side effects of the drug and its dependence. Ambien is meant for short-term use and not for years. I would like to suggest you to consult a sleep doctor and discuss the other options for alternate drugs. Take care and share your thoughts.
I have taken Zanax for anxiety and Ambien for insomnia for 10 years. I'm 35, so the Dr. started me when I was young. I have been having back pain for the last few minths and the Dr. prescribed me vicodin. That didn't work so I ASKED HIM what else I could do such as Chiropracter, that didn't help. So I've taken the vicodin for 4 months, 2 x's a day 500mg, then this month he had to increase it to 3x's a day 500 mg.
I am not familiar with your other medications. The Mayo clinic is helpful, so are pharmacists and the poison control center. After you take the ambien, go straight to bed; don't wait around for the hallucinations. I can have terrible hallucinations on ambien because I have vision damage in one eye, I actually see people. It is pretty scary. I have learned to patch that eye or go to sleep right away.
The highest recommended dosage of regular ambien (not CR) is 10 mg daily at bedtime. That doubling of the dose is a troubling issue since once that runs its course, where do you go from there? I would attempt to begin a tapering down with the cooperation of your doctor otherwise eventually you may have to go to a detox facility. The fact that you aren't taking any other medications (or are you?) should make the tapering a bit easier.

I was perscribed ambien 4 days ago for insomnia. It really helps with the anxiety when i fall asleep, but only lets me sleep for a few hours then im up...but still tired. I feel groggy all day and very frustrated and i cannot think straight at all. I have noticed though when i take it i feel veyr very nauseas. Its hard eat because of the nausea. Has anyone else experience nausea with Ambien? I dont know why it is making me nausea. My doc then perscribed lunesta 3mg.
There is no known reaction between these medications. Melatonin isn't usually used for insomnia because it doesn't work very well. Ambien is only meant to be used for short term use which often results in worsening of insomnia (sometimes worse than it ever was) when trying to come off the medication.
A Harvard study in 2004 demonstrated medications are not the best treatment for insomnia, but rather Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi) is better.
Anyone here take any other meds, like Ambien or benzos? I'm wondering if any of these meds are helpful in the early stages. I'm not talking about anti depressants because i can't take them at all, they were part of my Chemo protocal and I almost died from them so they are out. It seems a lot of people get help from anti depressants here but i know I can't so I'm looking for some alternatives.
Also I came off neurontin, a year ago horrible detox.

how do i get the same results i used to get from taking one 10 mg.ambien a night
i've never been able to take just 10 mg. of ambien at night to sleep. my mom takes the same dose and has for years and she can still fall asleep with the one pill. i am taking upwards of 30 mg. at night and want to go down to 10 mg. see my mom gets a little loopy and i have to put her to bed because she can barely keep her eyes open and she mumbles things, which i've read are all normal.
Although xanax helps with short-term panic symptoms there are other medications that can help you in the long-term. An example would be an SSRI or selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitor (drugs like celexa, prozac, paxil etc) that increase levels of neurotransmitters in your brain and help with anxiety problems. They are safe, non-addictive and generic (cheap!). I would talk to your doc about that!
