Ambien vs temazepam

Common Questions and Answers about Ambien vs temazepam

ambien

Avatar m tn I have been on, seroquel, lunesta, trazadone, sonata and ambien by itself. The one thing that finally worked is 10mg of ambien and 30mg of temazepam. However in addition I take topamax and vistaril. But the ambien/restoril concoction works better than anything for me I am also 6 foot 4 and 210 pounds so mg may change as well as how meds react to everyones body/genetics.
Avatar m tn i am taking ambien cr. melatonin and temazepam at the same time. Is this going to harm me?
Avatar m tn I am also taking Adderall 20mg, once when I wake up, and 10mg about 4 hours later, and another 10 mg later, if needed, but seldom take the last one. After talking with doc briefly, he decided to let me swap over to Temazepam from Trazodone. I know I shouldn't just stop trazodone, but I did, which of course is making it worse when I am trying to sleep. First, about 5 days ago, doc had me double my trazodone, took 100mg.
Avatar m tn I can tell you from experience, both Ambien and Ambien CR are notorious for causing odd behavior. I had to quit taking Ambien CR after it stated causing anxiety and pacin attack issues. Regular Ambien caused my husband to rise an hour after going to sleep and go down to our garage and work on his bike until 3:30 AM, when I realized he wasn't in bed and found him downstairs asleep.
312330 tn?1245176752 After a while it started to lose its effectiveness, and got to the point where its side effects outweighed its benefits and so I was switched to ambien. I did great with ambien, but my insurance limits it...so for the time I was allowed, I split the dose and even slept well with 5mg....now that's no longer an option because of my insurance, so my doctor put me on temazepam 30mg, but it simply doesn't do anything for me.
Avatar f tn it is more addicting than ambien..may work better...probably does..
Avatar f tn How much ambien were u taking at night?
Avatar m tn I was hearing people talking and laying awake all night and going to work all day. I called my doctor and he prescribed Temazepam 30mg capsules. I fell asleep in 20 minutes that night and have been taking one capsule every night for the last 12 years. How can I get off of Temazepam? I am taking prescriptions from my psychiatrist at night of one Seroquil XR 50mg tablet, and two Lithium Carb 300 mg capsules. Temazepam sometimes only gives me 4 hours of sleep.
710513 tn?1247522479 I called my Dr today and he prescribed Temazepam 30 mg...he says i can take it for up to two weeks...We had along talk about my anxiety, there are certainly factors in my life other than WD's so maybe this will help.....I told him i did not want to take anyhting that could lead down a path of furthur addiction...He says as long as I only get presciptions from him we will stay on top of it... He gave me a script for 30 but my insurance will only pay for 15 every 27 days.....seems weird.
Avatar f tn The best med that I have ever taken for sleep is triazolam (Halcion) .25mg @ bedtime. Ambien works for about a few weeks then I need to take a break from it before it will work again. Right now I am taking temazepam 30mg + trazodone 200mg + clonazepam 1.5mg @ bedtime. That just goes to show how sedating Seroquel is! I find that it is easier to wake up in the morning and I don't oversleep as I did with the Seroquel.
Avatar f tn I have 16 day clean from norco today, But these last couple nights I have not slept to well so I had to take an ambien to sleep. Now I feel like I just blew my 16 days clean.Boy,do I feel like an idoit.Because of the ambien do I have to start all over with my count?
9485899 tn?1537369589 In answer to your question; Zolpidem aka Ambien is prescription only, I took the 10 mg tabs. Unisom is over the counter and I believe it is similar to Benadryl.
Avatar f tn I'm not sure how long you've been using ambien. I used it for 9 months while on pain management with vicodin. I'm now off of both, but much to my surprise, the vicodin was much easier than the ambien for me to kick. I kicked vicodin cold turkey in February and started an ambien taper mid-march. I just finished with the ambien taper. Ambien can't be stopped suddenly; depending on for how long and how much ambien you've used.
Avatar f tn The reason your Ambien and Temazepam are no longer working is because they are physically addictive to the body. You have to wean yourself off of them SLOWLY in order to avoid nasty withdrawl symptoms. I ONLY use temazepam when I have to get sleep to break a severe manic cycle. I only take it once in a blue moon. I recently discovered dissolvable Melatonin in 5mg. It is great and puts me into a relaxed state for sleep.
Avatar f tn I am 16 weeks into tx and I find myself still awake at 4 am. I have ambien but I do hate to take it . I take it about 3x a week. Could I be having insomnia because of the Ambien. I already take 50 mg of benadryl every night before bed because of the rash which by the way doesn't help when you are trying to fall asleep. Anyone have a magic potion? I feel tired all day because I force myself to get up by 9am no matter what time i go to sleep.
Avatar f tn I always took mine as soon as I got home, I know not everyone can do that because of children but I was able to go to sleep and sleep through the night without waking up with that hang over feeling that they do give you. I now take Temazepam for sleep. They might work for me once a month and I take them every night. Good luck with your FM.
Avatar f tn t said if he is taking Ambien or Ambien CR. The Ambien CR helped me MUCH more than the regular Ambien. Of course I never slept the whole night through but a few hours then I'd wake up about 2 but I was able to go back to sleep usually even if it was several times a night. Good luck, I've never been much of a good sleeper but if it gets that bad I would seek out a sleep clinic doctor place - he could have sleep apnea or something that is compounding the situation.
1460021 tn?1445735958 Hey all...just wondering if any of you guys have had Temazepam while on a stimulant? (I'm on dexamphetamine 50mg over the day) I haven't been sleeping well for quite some time now (i was awake for over 40 hours a couple weeks back) so my doctor has given me a short course of Temazepam to try and get my sleeping patterns right again.
623065 tn?1275503695 I was on day 3 when i went and i had anxiety like no other the dentist gave me a script for temazepam and extrastrenght vicodin witch is what i was quiting like to say now on day 6. But on next wednesday i might be put back thats the day i go. Im going to try and not fill the script unless i just cant tollerate the pain. Is temazepam addictive? He gave me 30 of those too! I dont want any kind of medication i thought last day one was it. Uhh so frustrated. Any advise is helpfull!
1201433 tn?1328997637 Hi, I was on Lunesta for the entire tx and it worked great. Ambien comes in two forms one is extended ambien, do you know which one you are on? You should talk to your Dr about which one you are on.I took regular ambien long before tx and it didn't work too well for me either. Best of luck....
906819 tn?1242453662 t stand the weight gain and sluggishness anymore. Soooo, I saw a sleep doc and he has me on a combo of Ambien and Librium (I asked for Librium because I used to have an issue with Xanax and I heard Librium is the safest benzo), but I gotta tell ya, this stuff does nothing for me. I am on 10 mgs of it at night, along with 10 mgs of Ambien and the Ambien works a little, but the Librium I don't think does anything for me.
Avatar f tn I previously alternated between temazepam and zolpidem for sleep. I also take gabapentin. Three weeks ago I stopped temazepam and tramadol. I am taking zolpidem every night now and continue gabapentin 3x a day. I don't crave either of the meds I quit, but I have been experiencing inability to concentrate, ringing in my ears, vomiting, blurry vision, sweating, confusion, anxiety and mood swings. The symptoms wax and wane and I can't find a pattern.
649598 tn?1239117215 Sleeping pills, i.e. Ambien, Lunesta, Seroquel, don't work on me. I don't know if this is physiological or what, but I am sick of my insomnia. Has anyone else been so immune to sleep aids? Any comments are welcome.
Avatar f tn It would be hard to tell which drug is making u feel like this, but from my experience of taking both at the same time like u are, I would say it is more the ambien. Maybe try a few nights of no ambien and see if u start feeling better? And then figure out a way to taper off the xanax.
