Ambien vs rozerem

Common Questions and Answers about Ambien vs rozerem

ambien

Avatar m tn It appears to be similar in efficacy and like Ambien is meant for short term use only. Unless you've tried it Rozerem is one alternative that unlike Ambien or the medication you mentioned or Lunesta does not have a potential for a person to build up a tolerance to it and is an FDA approved medication that works like melatonin to adjust the sleep cycle. You could ask your psychiatrist about that.
Avatar m tn Personally I have been able to work my way through a list of meds to find one that works for me; Trazodone, Rozerem, Lunesta, Ambien, and finally Ambien CR which I consider a miracle drug. Hope this helps and hope you decide to see your doc. Good Luck!
Avatar m tn Has anyone tried taking rozerem to help sleep when tapering? I tried Abien a few years ago and it wired me all night. Last night, I took ,1 clonidine and 2 soma and I just knew that would put me to sleep and all it did was give me a big buzz and i was wired for a few hours. I know I just need some sleep!
603015 tn?1329862973 You didn't say what you were on as a sleep aide. Sonata and Ambien are for short term use only. Lunesta can be used safely everyday. Rozerem works in the same manner as melatonin and actually adjusts the sleep cycle. That can be taken everyday and might get your sleep cycle more in order.
Avatar f tn I have tried benadryl, ambien, triazolam for my insomnia. Currently taking clonazepam daily for anxiety. What other meds can I discuss with my doctor which are indicated for insomnia. Ambien did absoutley nothing for me. Benadryl can sometimes have the opposite effect on me and have me tossing and turning when I take more than 50 mg.'s. Since I am already taking a benzodiazepine I don't want to take another.
741315 tn?1232458427 Ambien is not meant for everyday use as a sleeping aide as it can be addictive. Lunesta or Rozerem are two better choices. Rozerem works in the same manner as Melatonin and actually adjusts the sleep cycle. Those are some ideas to speak to your psychiatrist about.
Avatar n tn Has anyone's memory improved after stopping Ambien? I have taken about 40 doses of 10 mg over 140 days and notice a problem with short term memory. Does this get better? How can I improve it. I am done with the stuff and think it is better to drink yourself to sleep instead if you are really desparate.
1088646 tn?1256949923 I'm taking Ambien but still don't feel rested....I've lived with this for 55 years I guess I can go the rest of the way. Any natural suggestions??
266660 tn?1189755834 i was going to ask the EXACT same question last night l0l. i searched for previous topics and found none related this closely. last night i took 1 ambien and i'm also taking 5 mg klonopin for the last 3 days.
Avatar f tn Please don't do anything without speaking to your psychiatrist. Lamictal is generally a very tolerable mood stabilizer. If you find you can't tolerate it speak to your psychiatrist. There are many viable options listed on the links page. As regarding mood stabilizers if you stop them the moodswings and full symptoms of mania and depression return. As for Ambien if you can't tolerate it you can ask your psychiatrist about changing it.
202665 tn?1248806733 Besides the medications I take for depression and BP (Cymbalta, lamictal, lithium), I've also been tking 50mg of Trazadone and 10mg of Ambien nightly for about 6 months. Sometimes it works...sometimes not. If I miss a certain window of time to take the night drugs...I'm wired instead of sleepy. I will stay up until 3-4a wandering around..eventually get a couple hours sleep, and still have high energy the next day...or couple days...until I crash.
558096 tn?1255887002 I wish there was a spelled out word for that quick little laugh we give through our nose that isn't quite a snort:) y'all are funny:) However I've heard some not so funny stuff about ambien and rozerem and people walking, eating, and driving in their sleep. Please note that when using sleep aids your brain and body do not usually reach the REM stage that is needed for nightly healing and repair.
Avatar f tn I started taking Ambien & Prozac in Oct 2009. I started building a resistance so my doctor prescribed for me Restoril, that didn't work so she started me on Lunesta. After I started building a resistance to the Lunesta my doctor prescribed for me Ambien CR 12.5mg. It's now March 2010 and I need 4 or more Ambien CR to sleep. I can't sleep without it!!! I haven't taken the CR 12.5mg in 24hr and I have the common addiction symptoms.
Avatar f tn Even last week when I had to take ambien I did not sleep through the night.I flushed the ambien last week and regreted it every night when I slept only a couple hours a night.Last night I went to bed at 10pm and slept til 7 and did not wake up once!!! I honstly did not think that would happen again..I know I will still have bad nights but I now know it does get better!! 23 days clean too.. So to all the newbies just keep hanging on it gets so much better..
Avatar m tn There are safer sleeping medications such as Lunesta and Rozerem. My concern about Trazadone is the fact that it can cause tardive dyskinesia. If you are not taking it for depression but as a sleep aid you might want to ask your psychiatrist about the two I mentioned. This link is from a psychiatric journal and lists all known medications that can cause tardive dyskinesia and Trazadone is clearly listed as one.
Avatar f tn Its been tough. Was diagnosed with bipolar after a psychotic episode involving no sleep and SSRIs. Spent time inpatient and just recently accepted that I need to be on meds, Depakote has helped tremendously. I'm currently outpatient but have had trouble finding a good psych. My current pdoc is an addiction specialist that keeps trying to take away my ambien. She says it's addictive and blah blah...all I know is it helps me sleep and keeps me sane. I can live with the mental addiction.
Avatar f tn I haven't slept thru the night in at lest 6 months. Before That, I go thru the same boughts. I awake around 3:00 every morning, wide awake. Go to bed about 11:00, sometimes earlier. No naps when I'm not really depressed in a bad way. I have tried Trazadone, Ambien and Lunesta in the past years. They all keep me awake and once I finally sleep I'm up in the middle of the night wide awake. Any suggestions on a pill to keep me asleep that I can ask my pdoc to try.
Avatar f tn The only sleep aide that I was allowed to take on a long term basis and worked that way and is clinically noted as not having the potential for addiction was Rozerem and unlike Ambien that would not make me tired throughout the day but that is a specific psychiatrist's decision.
439168 tn?1307931740 The problem that I am having now is when the mood stablizer was taken away (due to intolerance to the medication), I have not been sleeping. I took ambien in the past, but I hallucinated with it. Does anyone know of any mood stabilizers that they are tolerating well? And sleeping medications or remedies that work for them? I have to be careful if the side effects effect the heart because I have issues there....I can't take anything that will increase my heartrate. Thanks!
Avatar f tn Hello! Which sleeping pill is stronger, Belsomra or Rozerem? I take 2 tablets of Belsomra at night for 20 mg plus 2 tablets of Donormil. Should I try Rozerem?
Avatar f tn I have tried Ambien, Ambien CR, and the new one Rozerem. Nothing phases my body when it comes to putting me to sleep. If i am lucky i get 5hr of sleep (interrrupted of course). I guess I am just used to it. I do not take naps, nor do i have problems the following day. I do not fall asleep at work. But this is just me, and it all started when i had graves/hyperthyroidism. In my situation, i do not think it will ever change for me.
750172 tn?1256147076 Hi, I have been seeing just a counselor for about two months now. But, I went into my GP today. Got prescribed 10mg of Lexapro and I think 10mg of Ambien. I've also been diagnosed as borderline manic deppressive. I just wanted to get some experiences of people taking these meds. Couple questions...How long will it take to notice effects from the Lexapro?? Also, what are some of the side effects I could feel from both meds? I've read about possible side effects...
Avatar f tn Have been taking xanax .25 mg 4 times daily. Dr today prescribed Ambien 10 mg to help with staying asleep at night and skip the last dose of xanax before bed and take the Ambien. I take the xanax for Anxiety attacks and i'm first scared to stop the last dose before bed and second, don't know how the Ambien is going to effect me. The xanax at night only puts me to sleep for about 2 hours then i wake up. What should I do?
Avatar m tn Thanks.I think my sleep problems are related to Risperdal and Xanax withdrawal reactions. My sleep problems began in October first week when my Psychiatrist start tapering me off Risperidone from September and it has gradually worsened as the dose was further reduced. Now I am off the Risperdal and mood wise I am OK.On my request my Psychiatrist has further slowed the tapering of Xanax.I am meeting him on 26th and will ask him for a sleeping aid like Ambien.
