ambien vs generic ambien

i have been using ambien for many years now. i used the ambien and it's generic form zolpidem. it has always work up until two months ago when apparently the pharmacy changed suppliers. i took the little round purle pill up until then and now i take a white oval one. This one does not seem to be working as well and the side effect just seem wierd Does anyone think that the new manufacturer product is inferior and has anyone experienced this?

Ambien (zolpiedem) helped me. It works quickly, doesn't give a morning hangover and is pretty cheap as it's available as a generic. I haven't tried the Ambien CR (time released, non-generic). Only thing about ambien is that, for me, I wake up after about 6 hours. But those 6 hours are pretty solid sleep.

However, as the med labels will tell you, if you are still having trouble sleeping after taking these meds for 7-10 days, then you really need to see your Dr. as you may have a serious problem such as Sleep Apnea. You should not try to treat insomnia without your Dr.'s supervision.

i also was perscribed ambien, i felt worse after taking it so i am living with the insomnia.

I have been taking 5mg of generic ambien for about 5 yrs. I take a pill every night. If not I am worthless during the day from lack of sleep. I know that this is discouraged but since I have to work, I have no choice.

For the mood tracker, could you please add Ambien or its generic Zolpidem to the list of medications currently listed?

I do not respond to generic Ambien the same as the brand Ambien. I would recommend trying the brand, if you can afford it. It can make all of the difference. I am so, so sorry to hear about your miscarriage and your post traumatic stress. Sleep will be very important in your recovery, so I hope that you can get this resolved. I would not recommend using xanax for sleep, however. What dosage are you taking?

My wife has been Zolpidem (generic Ambien) for 20+ yrs. She recently took a job in China and has been told the ultrasound show 'fatty infiltration of the liver'. She is 50 yrs old and drinks only occasionally and excercises and eats well/healthy for the most part. Could her long-term use of Zolpidem have contributed to this liver problem?

Good for you George, I have this problem but I wake up every 2hours. I travel so much with my work that my sleeping hours are never consistent. For that reason I never use a sleep aid. At only 5mg of Ambien a day I don't think you will build up a tolerance to Ambien anytime soon. Glad you can get some sleep anyway, I never seem to get more than a couple of hours a day.

I would not get your hopes with the Ambien I had Ambien and valium I used both for a week and still lost allot of sleep. Sleep deprivation is part of the ride. With time sleep will come bit by bit. I still wake up earlier than I want but my sleep I get is good sleep. Give your body some time to heal it has been through allot with using. I think by this weekend you will feel much better. After day 4 it only gets better.

The first time it happened, I wondered what was making my bed vibrate and then realized it was me. I have been on ambien for several years and have started using the generic form in the past 4-8 months. This problem started in the last 4 months. My wife has been on (generic) Ambien for years.. don't recall how many. All her doctors know it, including her Oncologist, Primary Care, and Psychiatrist. I can't testify to the addictive nature but it does seem that her body had adjusted to it somewhat, that is it is less effective some times. I take the pill very rarely and it works. I too prefer not to use it regularly and don't.

I have been worried for six months and have been abusin ambien. I am off of it now and cant sleep. Can a person never sleep on their own again. I havent taken a nap or slept on my own in 6 months. I feel for you, my doctor give me Zolpidem 10mg which is the generic for Ambien. There is also an Ambien CR. If you get it read the warnings carefully as its a very contravercial medicine. No not take at all if you are prone to sleepwalking! Safety first. I hope you get some much needed sleep. Sweet dreams.

yea i took the ambien ( a generic version) and as its a benzo to some degree i am told. it has a calming affect on my anxiety, which is why i take it once a week, usually on saturday night ( thats my compensation for having a boring weekend).

Hi, I am going through perimenopause stage. The Ambien I took was just a generic brand, Zolpiderm 10mg. And I found out It was due to fluctuation to my estrogen level. I was so scared and did no know what was wrong with me. But to get back to my question, how long does the withrawal of Trazadone last, if anyoone knows. I was on these tow meds. Trazadone and Ambien for only 3 nights. I am going through Hormone Rpalcement Therapy right now. Thanks.

It would be hard to tell which drug is making u feel like this, but from my experience of taking both at the same time like u are, I would say it is more the ambien. Maybe try a few nights of no ambien and see if u start feeling better? And then figure out a way to taper off the xanax.

then 30...and so on until its 5 then jump off. I have ambien,rozerem scripts myself but stopped the ambien and made it a once a week or less thing because it can be bad news. You might want to see if the Dr will switch you to say lunesta and see if you can use that while getting off ambien or when you tapered low enough to jump and switch. Good luck.

My wife and another female relative have taken Ambien (generic) for years, and it still seems to work/help. I do not know what the W/D part of your subject is about.

t stand the weight gain and sluggishness anymore. Soooo, I saw a sleep doc and he has me on a combo of Ambien and Librium (I asked for Librium because I used to have an issue with Xanax and I heard Librium is the safest benzo), but I gotta tell ya, this stuff does nothing for me. I am on 10 mgs of it at night, along with 10 mgs of Ambien and the Ambien works a little, but the Librium I don't think does anything for me.

10 mg of ambien and 100 mg of serequel works great for me. Is there any problem with this combination.

Thanks for your comments. We talked about ambien extended release, but that stuff costs over $200 for 30, as opposed to about six bucks for 60 10mg tablets of the generic non-extended release. I wanted it but simply can't afford it. So I went back to the regular ambien - it doesn't last as long, but as you say is not as addictive. I can usually doze in and out after it wears off, so it is at least tolerable. My Dr.

ok so it's 1am and i'm on the computer...anyone else having trouble sleeping? i sleep for a few hours then get up to pee. then i toss and turn for the rest of the night. this is really beginning to get to me. my dr gave me ambien but it's still at the pharmacy b/c my hubby (who is a nurse) doesn't want me to take it being that it is a class c drug. that means it could cause birth defects.

Yes, I agree with you - many of the generics aren't as effective as the brand name. I found that to be true with Ambien - the generic didn't work so I immediately switched back to brand. In fact, my plan pays for brand name drugs, so I ask for brand for everything - xanax, ambien...I returned the unused amount back to my drug store the next day and made them apply my co-pay to the brand. Funny about the dexedrine - I'm assuming that a psychiatrist is writing this script for you?

It was a new purscription but was told by someone this information "I work for a primary doctor if your doctor will write you a script for lunesta in a generic form your insurance will pay for it also they will pay for ambien in generic it's alot less cost he should give you aleast a 30 day to see if it will help.

I am horribly addicted to ambien. And before anyone says this, I am seeing my dr. tomorrow. But I wanted to see if anyone has had experience overcoming ambien addictions. I have been taking it almost every night for a year. I am treated for depression with wellbutrin and celexia. I think the ambien started to become a problem this summer, when I would take it on days that were particularly bad and I was anxious.

I didn't read carefully and don't know all the patent med names, other than Ambien which I know and have some generic form in my cabinet. Trazadone is often an effective aid in sleeping, yes it is prescribed as an anti-depressant, but it is also an aid in getting to sleep if taken before bedtime. I take 50 mg, not sure it helps a lot.. my problem is staying asleep.. driven awake by unpleasant dreaming, need to urinate (old guy) and nasal congestion: dry mouth and suffocation.
