Common Questions and Answers about Ambien side effects sleep walking

ambien

Avatar f tn ve seen what it does to my mom...anyone not have bad side effects like sleep walking, sleep driving or hillucinating?
Avatar n tn Some patients have experienced weigh gain and sleep walking, while on treatment with ambient. The other common side effects of Ambien are headache, dizziness, mental clouding, daytime drowsiness and allergies. Hence, it is advised you visit your doctor if you are experiencing any such side effects. The drug is considered safe for a period of two to maximum six weeks for the treatment of insomnia. If taken for a longer duration, one may develop dependence on ambien.
Avatar n tn She is sleep/wake having conversations she doesnt remember and and having conversations with us that did not happen, Sleep walking, cleaning.... Is this common and should Ambien be prescribed to teens with PTS?
Avatar m tn I don't know about statistics, but I think the risk of Ambien "sleep-walking" is higher if you are taking Ambien every night than if you are only taking it occasionally. I take Ambien once every week or two and have never had this. My mother has taken Ambien every night for years, and she only had this problem when she was also taking narcotic pain medication at the same time.
620048 tn?1358018235 HI, Has anyone taken ambien and experienced side effects rom it? I seem to be having dreams, not bad, but strange. Sometimes they appear to be real even after I wake up. I have also heard of people having sleep walking while on it. If so, do you have any other suggestions? I could just take otc stuff, thats what i did before, but this was so much better and easier t take. thanks, meg ..who is having bad days lately !!

Avatar m tn But it is the only thing that has worked for me with my sleep problems thus i have stayed on it. Also the side effects of weight gain and some other negative side effects are the reason I would love to get off of it. If anyone knows of any medications instead of seroquel that might work.....
Avatar n tn Treatment with Ambien may cause side effects like impairment of thinking or reactions. You may still feel sleepy the morning after taking the medication. In patients with liver disorder, a smaller dose of Ambien is generally prescribed. Ambien addiction is a serious problem requiring treatment. The signs of ambien withdrawal are insomnia, fatigue, sweating, stomach cramps, and panic attacks.
Avatar n tn After 4 weeks of Insomnia i had to get something for sleep , Ambien and it works for me , but without it i really cant sleep . So should i take it every evening ? And is that hard on us Hep C people ? 2. From first week of TX i have a slight numbness , only on the little finger edges of my hands and arms , anyone else have this ? 5 weeks of tx and really except for insomnia all is well .
Avatar f tn Is this a result of Xanax withdrawal, Ambien side-effects or sleep deprivation? It seems worse than anything I experienced during previous episodes of weaning off Xanax. I didn't have to go to work while doing this before so maybe that alters my perception somewhat. At this point I don't know whether to continue with the Ambien a little longer to see if things improve. (I've already experienced performing actions which I don't remember under it's influence.
1246883 tn?1285547973 I immediately started to gain weight. And stopped the Seroquel immediately (mid Dec). I know this is one of the side effects. I gained about 5lbs. Being 5'9" and weighing 135, I felt the 5 extra pounds would come off with eating better and a few more yoga classes . But the weight kept coming. I got down to a dietary intake of about 1000 cals. But that mad no difference.
Avatar f tn I take ambien every single night for sleep. it is the only thing that has ever helped me sleep. I have been taking ambien for 10 years. I really want to stop taking it now..i am in a constant brain fog during the day and always tired. I have horrible vivid dreams from the ambien and have been known to have conversations and parttake in activities i have no recollection of the next day and that to me is frightening.
Avatar m tn Once you figure out how it effects you you can take measures to combat side effects. Good luck and may you sleep soon and sleep well!!!
Avatar m tn of drugs,I have experienced sleep walking, sleep eating, sleep sex and sleep driving. I even crashed my truck, quite badly I might add after an episode of driving and have no recollection of the event. This is a very powerful drug and though it does do what it is designed to do,the side effects have been terrible. Not only is it very addictive and very hard to come off of after long term use,it can be done.
1967424 tn?1325633780 Hi, I've taken it before. What's your actual question about? What I can tell you up front is that it's been around since 1981 and has a good safety record. I'd trust it more than, say, Ambien (sleep walking - sleep driving, etc.) While it's classed as a benzo it's not an anxiolytic. It's strictly a hypnotic.
312330 tn?1245176752 After a while it started to lose its effectiveness, and got to the point where its side effects outweighed its benefits and so I was switched to ambien. I did great with ambien, but my insurance limits it...so for the time I was allowed, I split the dose and even slept well with 5mg....now that's no longer an option because of my insurance, so my doctor put me on temazepam 30mg, but it simply doesn't do anything for me.
Avatar f tn If you have insomnia, try magnesium (in chelated form such as citrate or glycinate) before you go to sleep. If you have kidney disease or severe heart disease you should take magnesium only under a doctor's supervision. The risks of Ambien include sleep walking, confusion, "sleep-driving" while not fully awake with amnesia for the event, and risks of falls.
Avatar m tn I'm no doctor, so I definitely can't give you any medical information on Ambien, but I can relay my personal experience with it. I've been on Ambien (currently 10mg) for SEVERAL years now (5 or more). I have many chronic pain conditions, including fibroymalgia. One of the major symptoms of fibro is insomnia - which I definitely suffer from!
9880688 tn?1414115647 It can have some bad side effects. Congrats on your clean time. Just be patient and you will be feeling better soon.
