He has been taking 10 mg of Ambien nightly for maybe 8 YEARS, has been down to taking 5 mg for about a year. He has been taken off the Ambien, but what are the long term effects? I find alot of info on short term effects, but could his memory issues be due to AMBIEN? Please help.

I take them both and i sleep like a baby...one that sleeps thru the night. I used to be on just ambien and the side effects were crazy and funny...like when the carpet started bubbling it was time to go to bed...lol...but if we i dont take them i wont sleep at all...so its either small side effects or cranky crazy person...ill take bubbling carpet anyday!

ve not experienced any long-term side effects (that I can tell or that may possibly show in blood work) from being on the Ambien this long. Of course, if I've had a rough night of sleep (or not sleeping), I will definitely be more fatigued and drowsy in the morning, but that's more than likely more related to the lack of sleep or lack of GOOD sleep than it is the Ambien itself.
