ambien

870200 tn?1240459551 Does anybody hae any comments about ambien? That stuff is crazy.... when I take it I find myself calling people and having intense conversations but the next day I can't remember anything. I can't even remember going to bed. But if I don't take it I can't fall asleep...
Avatar m tn i also was perscribed ambien, i felt worse after taking it so i am living with the insomnia.
Avatar m tn you should look up the prescribing information online and check out the metabolism excretion section of the document. If Ambien is metabolized via the liver which would be hepatically (like tylenol) then there may be something to your thought.
Avatar f tn It is my understanding too that benzos, like Valium; Ambien (which is actually a hypnotic and in the benzo family); clonazapam; etc. have negligible if any adverse affects on the liver. I've had to take benzos for several years, and I had my first liver biopsy in June. I have 0 fibrosis, and mild inflammation. So, I wouldn't worry unduly about any danger taking Valium to yourliver if you need it for medicinal purposes. The dangerous drug to worry about, of course, is alcohol.
Avatar f tn It was discovered that I was suffering from major depression due to a grief issue. The liver diagnosis come on very quickly and my grief was apparently put on the back burner. They call it delayed grief syndrome. I have a wonderful therapist and psyche. Of course the psyche manages my drugs in conjunction with my liver doc.. I was put on Xanax 1mg along with 100mg of trazadone.
Avatar m tn From what Ive been told, Tylenol (Acetaminophen) is one of the worst things you can take when it comes to your liver. Im pretty sure the Rx drugs Ambien and Lunesta are both easier on the liver. The only downside of course being they are quite habit-forming.
Avatar f tn t said if he is taking Ambien or Ambien CR. The Ambien CR helped me MUCH more than the regular Ambien. Of course I never slept the whole night through but a few hours then I'd wake up about 2 but I was able to go back to sleep usually even if it was several times a night. Good luck, I've never been much of a good sleeper but if it gets that bad I would seek out a sleep clinic doctor place - he could have sleep apnea or something that is compounding the situation.
Avatar m tn this is just my experience, and I'm not on tx yet...I can't take Lunesta and ambien, ambien makes me feel nutzo the next morning, but many people are fine with it...I take ativan if I have had a lot of sleepless nights in a row, and at a very low dose...I find tranquilizers lull me into sleep, which I prefer...best of luck...
Avatar m tn I take 10 mg of Ambien Sun-Thurs, is it okay for me to take 2 Tylenol PMs on Fri & Sat nights?
Avatar f tn Maybe every month or so, just to monitor your liver enzymes and keep a close watch on things. If things were to start to show liver stress, your medication could easily be adjusted.
233616 tn?1312787196 i thought i had a hard time getting off the ambien but nothing like what you are going through. i had heard that getting off those drugs could be rough. I didn't do any AD's 6 months later and I still don't sleep well. I'm up right now at 4am. have you tried a supp like melatonin to help you sleep. my feeling is if you can sleep through these sx until they subside then it would help a lot. Hope you are feeling better soon.
Avatar f tn About 3 weeks into tx, I found I could not sleep even though I was bone tired all day long. My doc started me on Ambien which I now take each evening and that has solved the problem on most nights. Some nights I am just too worked up and my mind is focused on one thought and I think about it all night long, but not too often. Most nights I have a great night sleep. I know because I dream and when I wake up the covers are still in the same neat pattern when I crawled into to them.
Avatar n tn Nausea and some cramping of stomach/esophagus continued to this day. I was given Ambien for sleep and discovered that 5mg of Ambien is the only thing that takes away the nausea. I have tried Phenergan, Zofram, Librax and Ativan.....all to no avail. My doctor says he has now idea why Ambien works. I do not have a history of any dependence. I have never smoked, drank alcohol. or used pain medication other than Tylenol.
Avatar m tn What are the side effects of the Ambien? I will have to ask the doctor about ambien. Thanks! Hubby is getting a rash on his chest and requires some cream for that too!
248382 tn?1274938634 Rarely, liver damage has been associated with the use of valerian. It's not certain whether the cause of the liver damage was due to valerian itself or to contaminants in the product. Until we know more, people should use valerian only under the supervision of a qualified health care practitioner and those with liver disease should avoid it.
Avatar f tn Hello- First of all, congratulations on 30 days - that is huge :)) Reading through the list of vitamins and supplements you are taking looks almost exactly like what I am doing. I take a little more magnesium, a general B "super vitamin complex" instead of the individual B's, and I don't take the Milk Thistle or Melatonin. I had been taking Ambien for sleep for the last year or so and am currently tapered down to less than 5 mg.
Avatar f tn Try to get even light exercise during the day, avoid daytime naps, no caffeine after noon, and if none of that helps, maybe you could ask your doctor for something like Ambien of Lunesta maybe; I assume they are available in Canada, although possibly under a different brand name. The generic name for Ambien is ‘Zolpidem’, if that helps.
Avatar m tn can ambien, ondanestron, nexium, zantac have bad liver effects?
Avatar f tn Also, the top recommended dosage of ambien for people without liver disease is 10 mgs a day. Do not take more than that and certainly do not take it with other CNS depressants. Please speak to yur doctor before taking anything.
1431734 tn?1421011671 i dont want ambien or addictive meds. my liver damage is very low but viral load high. am i making a dangerous decision? of course i will check with doc when we meet in a few weeks but u guys seem to have the scoop.
1008841 tn?1293598960 I didn't like ambien. I would wake up the next morning not remembering ever going to bed. I've been taking melatonin for a few years, and I sleep pretty good. I've read that it not only helps you sleep, but that it's also a brain antioxidant, and I'll take all the help I can get in the brain dept. As far as how it affects your liver, I can't imagine it being any worse than ambien, but it's best to ask your doctor.
221913 tn?1372276661 Hey Bill, I'm doing shot 6 in two more days. For the first 2 weeks if tx I couldn't get more than 90 minutes sleep at a time and it was really starting to do my head in. My nurse recommended chamomile tea and suggested I take the the 3 tabs of riba in the am and 2 in the pm instead of the other way around. I finally got some zoplican from my doctor and only needed a half tab to get to sleep for 4 whole hours!!! - it was absolute heaven. I have also swapped the riba around.
Avatar m tn Two months ago, I had my gallbladder removed and starting that VERY night, I had bouts of insomnia. They chalked the first 2 weeks up to surgery (the various drugs during/after surgery, pain, etc...). However, it never went away. My surgeon had mentioned taking an enzyme to help my liver (a fatty liver no less) create bile; but I told him no more drugs, I'll be fine. However, the insomnia won't go away.
Avatar f tn my dr did not want to give me ambien or xaxan but he did for 15 days thats the best sleep i have since i started tx 8 weeks now.why has the dr offered this already i had to aks for it and he knew what bad shape i was in.how can i get him to give me more?
Avatar n tn my bf was diagnosed w/ hep c 6 years ago, has had 2 biopsies w/ the 2nd one last month showing small changes to his liver, but no recommendation for treatment yet. anyway, he has a hard time sleeping, ambien doesnt always help, and he also has some depression, so we thought this might be a good medication for him. thanks in advance.
