1282280 tn?1285086420 i was diagnosed with sleep insomnia, ptsd, panic disorder, and major depresive disorder a little over a yr. ago. at first, the dr's just had me on a low dose of zoloft to see if it would help. tho it did help with the depression and a little with the anxiety, i still couldn't sleep. after raising the dose of my zoloft a few more times, and trying seroquil, the dr's finally put me on ambien when i couldn't sleep.
Avatar f tn Then, 30 minutes before actually going to bed I give him Ambien CR. The regular Ambien was not working at all. Ambien CR on the other hand seems to calm him down and there has been less action. I also placed a body pillow between us and that seems to curtail some of the aggressiveness. It gives him less space to move around and I feel safer. Yes, he speaks while he is asleep, (more of gurgutal sound than words) but it has come down a bit.
Avatar f tn been off meds for over a year still have anx attacks and suffer from recent PTSD yet Ifeel at times if I am having a fever sweats skin burns and makes me irritable. I am not suffering from Menopause as I am Male so what causes this I have suffered very debilitating Anx attacks they leave me exhausted and sleepy after days or hours of severe fits of breathing and fear from anx yet I never had this problem before new anx problems ? or something else ?
Avatar f tn Some clinicians float through these forums ever so often and give professional advice. In my opinion, for you, I think dealing with the PTSD is the answer for you. I did well in therapy and then, after 7 years, got involved with my now to be second husband. I put all that trauma out on him due to the fact of not having been in any serious relationship for those seven years. During my hospital stay a nurse suggested I write my ex a letter. As soon as I put it in the mailbox I felt closure.
471949 tn?1236904026 Hello, I'm new here. I have severe PTSD from military sexual trauma (I'm a veteran) and chronic depression. I'm currently being seen at a VA facility and enrolled in this new treatment for PTSD...but it's not going well. I'm extremely depressed...it's really bad. I've had bad experiences with being in-patient at VA hospitals as they are very scary especially for female vets.
741315 tn?1232458427 Xanax is generally used short term as an anti-anxiety medication. Klonopin or another medication in the same category is safer used long term. Ambien is not meant for everyday use as a sleeping aide as it can be addictive. Lunesta or Rozerem are two better choices. Rozerem works in the same manner as Melatonin and actually adjusts the sleep cycle. Those are some ideas to speak to your psychiatrist about.
Avatar f tn 2-3 hrs of sleep combined in a night if I am lucky. The only thing that works for me is 20mg of Ambien, but I can only take it every 7th day, other than that it will not work.... I will let you know how the CBT goes. I go today...
Avatar m tn I have an addiction to coke (2 liter) plus a day. I take venlafaxine and Ambien for the PTSD. I went to the Dr about having no libido, getting and keeping an erection, and not being able to ejaculate. He has since prescribed me Viagra. Two nights ago, as well as tonight, I had amazing sex. Im able to get and maintain an erection! However, I still was not able to ejaculate.
1323549 tn?1276178147 My doctor put me on trazadone. I dont know if you can take that with those other meds... I have never heard of Pamelor.... I was sleep walking... doctor said I was stressed and it was the only way my body could deal with it.... when I was supposed to be sleeping!
Avatar f tn m the person who just tapered from Ambien over a 4 month period. I only used 10mg for 11 months. Ambien is very serious sleep medication. When I found myself hooked on it, and found out how hard it will be to become un-hooked, I went directly back to the Doctor who prescribed the Ambien for me, with absolutely no guilt about it what-so-ever. Quoting your story "My doctor prescribed me Ambien". You didn't ask for ambien, apparently you were put on it.
12796163 tn?1436135189 I was having horrible pains since last night. Anywho, my doc prescribed me Ambien to take in order for me rest. Anybody taken this before?? During pregnancy?? Reading up on it makes me nervous.

Avatar n tn I'll start from the beginning. I've suffered Insomnia for at least 10 years and have been on either Ambien or Ambien CR ever since. Some nights it works...others not so much. I'll also throw in that I've had a moderate bilateral hand tremor as long as I can remember and no doctor has ever given me a reason for it. OK, moving on. I also developed Migraines about 10 years ago and the solution was to try a parade of instant remedies (Imitrex, Relpax, etd.) of which NONE worked.
Avatar f tn htm#27 that there is no medicine that will help with the psychological aspect except for a medicine with benzo-like qualities, Ambien was one mentioned. I also have Trazadone. Just wondering if anyone knows about this, thanx.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with panic attacks, ptsd, social anxiety, fibromyalgia and agoraphobia. I am on Alprazolam .75 mg a day and 1 1/2 mg at night. 60.mg of Cymbalta at night. .75 mg of Lyrica 3 x daily and 150.mg at night, Flexiril at night along with Ambien. While the medication seems to be helping with all the other disoders I still have problems going out into public. I have tried the slow method of starting off with 2-3 minutes and increasing as time goes by. That did not work.
Avatar m tn Your med list might be to blame here. Who prescribes your meds???? Ambien just by itself is known for some very nasty side effects. Take some time and look up on-line on WebMD all of your meds and their associated side effects. Hate to say it; but don't rely on what your doc tells you as they only go by what they've seen.....and they haven't seen it all. I've attempted suicide several times, have PTSD and major depression.
Avatar n tn I have trouble sleeping supposedly from he PTSD so am on ambien. which helps sometimes. I have had health problems since I was a baby. Pnemonia four times before one yr. I cant work and am trying to get back on disability. How can I cope with the pain?? I have been in apin most of my life but it is becoming unbearable.
Avatar m tn I was put on keppra for the next year but I read on another ptsd related seizure post that for non epileptic seizures such as mine, anti seizure meds are pointless. I have come to find out that two of my old pals who had similar drinking habits have had problems with seizures since exiting the military.
Avatar f tn The thing I found with ambien was it would produce almost exactly 3.5 hours of sleep for me and I would pay for it the rest of the next day.
Avatar m tn 53 YO Male - I took ambien every day (10mg) for about 7 years with no problems. Late last year I went through a short bout of depression and insomnia kicked in - and still persists. I weaned off ambien and for 2 months took no meds, and got about an hour of sleep per night. I then tried anti-depressants, lunesta, melatonin, hypnosis, acupunctire all with no affect.
Avatar n tn Has anyone seen anything about the use of ambien for treating brain injury? I've seen some stuff about coma recovery, but nothing on general brain injury. I suffered a cerebral hemmorhage many years ago (22) and presently suffer from short term memory trouble and visual impairment (hemianopsia). About 2 years ago, I experienced insomnia and wa sgiven ambien. Since then, I've taken approx 5mg nightly and have noticed a substantial improvement in my short term memory.
