I'm in my 5 weeks now , is it okay for me to have long flight , around 7-8 hours ?
My stepmother was talking to a guy at her work who has MS about me, and he says that he often has a relapse after long flights or cross-hemisphere flights. So, several questions:
1) Do changes in climate or season trigger relapses for you? Winter - Summer or Summer - Winter?
2) Have you experienced relapses or MS-related events after long flights or cross-hemisphere travel?
3) I have read a bit about adverse reactions to heat for people with MS.
ambien as any other med for leep...even tylenol pm is recommended for short term only...u can become psychologically dependent or physically on some sleep meds...ambien is not as notorious for physical addiction as benzos but it does happen to soem....i have taken ambien off and on for over ten years without a problem...but i do know people who have had a problem..
I will be flying to Philippines in 2 days I normally have a MASSIVE fear of flights.
This time round, I anticipate my fear of flights will go crazy because I will be going on an OLD aircraft (A340 model, possibly around 20 years old plane!)
So how am I to stop this fear? Can i take Xanax? I checked with my insurance provider, and they say I can claim for Xanax, so looks like I can get a psychiatrist to dispense some for me.
I had a huge fear of flying and I had to fly back and forth from los angeles to dc for an entire year. My doc gave me xanax for the first few flights to help ease my fears. It helped me relax and I usually fell asleep on the plane. That's what my doc said they usually use for flying anxiety. But absolutely talk to your doc and agree with greenlydia..try it beforehand. The first dose they gave me was WAY too strong for me so they cut it back. It helped immensely for the flight though.
I have tried some of the sleep hygiene techniques, but one issue is I am too exhaused to even attempt any exercise. My question is after using ambien for so long, how long might it take for my brain to totally readjust to not needing it - I am hoping that this is part of my issue that will improve with time.
Has anyone seen anything about the use of ambien for treating brain injury? I've seen some stuff about coma recovery, but nothing on general brain injury.
I suffered a cerebral hemmorhage many years ago (22) and presently suffer from short term memory trouble and visual impairment (hemianopsia). About 2 years ago, I experienced insomnia and wa sgiven ambien.
Since then, I've taken approx 5mg nightly and have noticed a substantial improvement in my short term memory.
Ur only risk is blood clot formation. Everyone is at risk for this on long flights but risk increases for pregnant women. Walk every 2 hours and wear compression stockings. Other than that, for comfort, drink plenty, wear loose clothing, travel very light, get an aisle seat, bring snacks, and enjoy ur trip!!!
I thankfully have kicked Percocet, Xanax, and vicodin, separately, over the last year. And that other one. Those were huge steps for me. The last drug on board this body is ambien cr... And it's time for you to get off the bus! (im all enthusiastic now...lol). My addictions started when I lost my last and closest blood family member, my dad. It was a long painfull passing. He himself, addicted to painkillers... But a good dad. I love him so much.
Why am I stopping?

I'm coming to this thread pretty late, but figured I'd describe my experience here, as it sounds like it's similar to others', so might be helpful in helping other people sort out what's going on with their own memory loss issues.
I've been on Ambien for about 8-9 months now, and have been having some significant memory issues: Longer-term, not just the "I took Ambien and didn't remember what I did last night.
My dr had told me to be extra careful on flights, if its a long flight make sure you get up every 2 hours and walk around to circulate your legs. She said that in rare cases, you can get blood clots in the legs causing blood to stop going to your heart. However, it's very rare. Just make sure you move around. Have fun!
I have been on and off Adipex and Ambien for 2-3 years. Usually after 8-10 months the weight loss doctor takes me off for like 6 months and then I can get back on. Now I’m starting have some ED issues. Sometimes can’t get fully erect and some times I ejaculate before I get fully erect. I recently started having this issue. My sex drive has been down too. I’m curious if the long term effect of Ambien and adipex is causing this issue?
I'm not sure how long you've been using ambien. I used it for 9 months while on pain management with vicodin. I'm now off of both, but much to my surprise, the vicodin was much easier than the ambien for me to kick. I kicked vicodin cold turkey in February and started an ambien taper mid-march. I just finished with the ambien taper. Ambien can't be stopped suddenly; depending on for how long and how much ambien you've used.
