m taking the Ambien CR and THANK GOD FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!! I tried regular Ambien and had 2 nights in one week that I only got 2 hours of sleep... which didn't help with the depression or Riba Rage. I still wake up often, but am able to go back to sleep now. I have no problem with feeling bad the next day. I'm on Effexor for the depression.
My feelings about the sx: Right now the most important thing is to kill this dragon... whatever it takes.
this is just my experience, and I'm not on tx yet...I can't take Lunesta and ambien, ambien makes me feel nutzo the next morning, but many people are fine with it...I take ativan if I have had a lot of sleepless nights in a row, and at a very low dose...I find tranquilizers lull me into sleep, which I prefer...best of luck...
Hi. The lexapro didn't work for my anxiety, but did help with depression. I was only on it a short time. Have been on trazadone for many years. It helps with falling asleep (not with staying asleep though). Didn't have a problem getting off the lexapro. Tried once to get off the trazadone and the only problem was insomnia. I've tried both Ambien and Ambien CR and neither one work at all for me - trazadone works better than ambien for me.
I have been on buspirone and it does not seem to work. Doc wants me to stay on that and then take 1 Lexapro per day. Also a sleep aid. I think he will take me of Buspirone when the Lexapro reaches its working period. I asked and he informed me that this is not a lifetime thing and you can get off this stuff. Also he advises that lexapro is non-habit as is the sleep aid/anti depressent trazadone he gave me. I am new to this med also as Ambien CR did not do it.
My doctor gave me 10 mg of Lexapro that I have been on for a month, Ativan 1 mg, and Ambien. The Lexapro is doing diddley as I feel worse than I have before ( anxiety, plus headaches, loss of appetite, and my hair is falling out). The only thing that seems to help is the Ativan, which she doesn't like to prescribe but she did. She won't give Klonopin, Valium, or anything else. The Ambien knocks me out at first and lets me get to sleep but then 3 hours later, I'm awake.
From there I started having problems falling asleep, staying asleep, and waking up early. I have tried many sleep aids, natural and RX. I started taking ambien CR in december. I only filled the rx once because of the cost. I took my last one and only slept for about 4 hours. Regular ambien I get the same or less sleep time. I took restoril this morning at 9:30 and slept until 1:30 and just laid around until I finally got up, very groggy.
I started taking Alprazolem for anxiety 15 years ago. Since then I only take .5mg at night to help me relax and fall asleep. I now find the the 1 pill at night is not helping me sleep. So I started taking Ambien CR and stopped taking the Alprazolem. I'm sleeping great, but feel terrible in the morning. I feel nausea and tingling numbnest in my arm and face. Do you think its from the Ambien or from me stopping the alprazolem. Any advice?
I started taking Ambien & Prozac in Oct 2009. I started building a resistance so my doctor prescribed for me Restoril, that didn't work so she started me on Lunesta. After I started building a resistance to the Lunesta my doctor prescribed for me Ambien CR 12.5mg. It's now March 2010 and I need 4 or more Ambien CR to sleep. I can't sleep without it!!! I haven't taken the CR 12.5mg in 24hr and I have the common addiction symptoms.
I am a 36 y/o female. I have had sleep problems since about 13. It started out as light sleeping and has continued to evolve from there. My father has the same problem. I have tried many different sleep meds. Restoril, Vistaril, Valium, deseryl, rozarem (did nothing for me), and now am taking ambien. I have a script for regular and CR. The CR works better but is expensive so I don't take it as often.
Ambien will help you get some sleep so yes I would say it is good. I worked for a Dr. before and the highest dose I saw given was a total of 12mg. So if the tab was 6mg then the patient could take 2. Taking 2 10mg of ambien seems a little high to me.Maybe someone else could answer better than me. I am one of those people that ambien doesn't work. I have tried Ambien cr, Lunesta (sp?) and regular Ambien and still couldn't get any sleep.
s instructions and while it did seem to help with the anxiety and depression, I was having the eye zaps and severe depersonalization that I only experienced during withdrawals. The doctor thought I may not have enough Paxil in my system so he put me on 25mg Paxil CR twice daily and it made me feel even worse. I felt like I had the flu and very achy. Very bad withdrawal effects.
30 for work. I have tried klonopin, ativan, ambien cr, tonight for instance i took 1 ambien 4 1/2 mg of ativan and 1 1/2 mg of klonopin and i am wide awake. Not quit sure the difference between adderall and benzo's. I used to be on ridilin and now am on dexedrin which are both uppers but have sleep side affects that are supposed to make you sleepy . I am at my whits end. sorry not really much of an advice more than a comment and trying to learn what other people are trying.
s not a day time med, I became very tired, groggy and sleepy. I am currently taking ambien 10mg every night for sleep. should I take another lexapro tonight? I can't take it before work? It is safe to take them both at the same time? Or start over tomorrow night?
Im new to the anxity/depression meds............ so any thoughts, experiences to share would help me.
Then a visit to my PCP for the Orthostatic Hypotension and he told me to go off those two drugs and gave me a script of 3 days with 1 refill of Ambien CR to see how I would react to that. After the 3 nights I started sleeping 18 to 20 hours of a 24 hr. period plus felt completely out of it. A call back to him and he said he just didn't know why I was doing that and suggested I should talk to my psyche about it which he was supposed to have done.
Yes, I was prescribed ambien from my addiction doc and their is not contraindication according to her. This didn't work for me as I took ambien a long time while addicted to opiates. I amnoe presribed Rozazem 8mg. Not helping me either. My tolerance to benzos and opiated are really high! Try the ambien 12.5 time released and by God, don't chew them or they def will not work long.

I've been on Ambien (currently 10mg) for SEVERAL years now (5 or more). I have many chronic pain conditions, including fibroymalgia. One of the major symptoms of fibro is insomnia - which I definitely suffer from!
If you use it to help with withdrawals such as insomnia, that's what it sounds like you asking, you're only substituting another drug in place of the other(s) . Then again, it's probably worked as a 'bridge' for some people to make the withdrawal easier. But as mentioned above, it is addicting and often just prolongs the process more.
I have been on a slew of psychiatric meds since last March including Ambien, Ambien CR, Effexor, Lexapro, Trazodone and now Zoloft and Clonazepam. Most SSRIs cause me to have insomnia which is why my psych prescribed Trazodone. However, I had a very bad experience two weeks ago where I even had to call 911 because I felt like I was having a heart attack. I know what a panic attack is and this was not anything like I had experienced before.
Ambien (zolpiedem) helped me. It works quickly, doesn't give a morning hangover and is pretty cheap as it's available as a generic. I haven't tried the Ambien CR (time released, non-generic). Only thing about ambien is that, for me, I wake up after about 6 hours. But those 6 hours are pretty solid sleep.
Then, 30 minutes before actually going to bed I give him Ambien CR. The regular Ambien was not working at all. Ambien CR on the other hand seems to calm him down and there has been less action. I also placed a body pillow between us and that seems to curtail some of the aggressiveness. It gives him less space to move around and I feel safer. Yes, he speaks while he is asleep, (more of gurgutal sound than words) but it has come down a bit.
