Ambien and lamictal

Common Questions and Answers about Ambien and lamictal

ambien

Avatar f tn I just weaned myself off risperdal and lamictal and I have terrible insomnia. Maybe it's just coincidental because I'm 51 and probably perimenopausal but it is impossible for me to get a good night's sleep without Ambien. It takes 1 1/2 hours to fall asleep and I toss and turn all night. I was diagnosed last summer with bipolar type II and I began to doubt the diagnosis and I realized that my psych had me overmedicated...
439168 tn?1307931740 Bipolar is a disorder that requires constant changing of medications and/or monitoring. So I see doctors fairly often for it. I was first started on lamictal. I was already on zoloft. I also have an antianxiety medication to help with the mania and to help me to relax. I take it every day. The problem that I am having now is when the mood stablizer was taken away (due to intolerance to the medication), I have not been sleeping. I took ambien in the past, but I hallucinated with it.
Avatar n tn I went to see my internist, and she is now weening me from klonopin and lexapro, and putting me on prozac. I have heard many a bad thing about prozac, anyone out there take prozac who suffers from panic disorder and depression?
Avatar n tn I have been through a rollercoaster ride since March of last year. I was on Lamictal and Wellbutrin at that time. I stopped the Lamictal abruptly (I know, big no no) and started taking Wellbutrin right after. On the fourth day of taking the Wellbutrin, I started experienced violent jerking movements as I was trying to fall asleep. I didn’t sleep at all for three nights. Finally I went to the pcp and she prescribed Restoril for the time being.
462570 tn?1273632977 I have only recently learned about these varying opinions, and since, have been slowly lowering my lamictal gradually. Also, evidence has shown that lamictal has some antidepressant properties to it, so I don't mind taking this lowered dose. I am very impressed with the findings of Dr. Peter Breggin and his publications on many of the horrible side effects of the newer class of AD's.
Avatar f tn I'm on Lamictal and it's working well for me so far. It is a slow taper, 25 mg every two weeks until 100 mg, then you can go up by 50 mg every two weeks. So it takes a while to work, but it's really good for the depressive phase. It's great for BP II, and it's approved I believe as an add-on med for BP I stabilization. Topomax does get used for bipolar, but it causes major cognitive side effects in a lot of people, to the point of getting nicknamed "Dopamax".
Avatar n tn I also have to take atenolol and pravastain for Hypertrophic cardio myaopathy heart conditoin and Ambien for sleep. What can I do to get off the lamictal? I would rather br happy and deal with the racing thoughts than the depression.
741315 tn?1232458427 I have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and ptsd. my inital diagnoses was did (disociative personality disorder). I am not sure what is exactly wrong with me and i am convinced that my doctors are not completely sure either. i currently take: * lamictal *citalopram *xanex *risperdone *ambien... its still hard to focus but its a different impedement on the meds its not the same kind of distraction or process. i want to stop taking them but i know how bad things are when i am not on them.
750172 tn?1256147076 Hi, I was just googling Ambien and Lexapro and read your question. I take Ambien here and there, since I have trouble staying asleep, and have recently become severely depressed and got some Lexapro from a friend, (I know not the best thing to do, but... such is life), but wanted to know if you had any issues taking the two.
Avatar f tn I take Lamictal & Lexapro in combo. They are a good team if you ask me but the point is you have to find out what works best for you. Consult you dr and make him/her know that you want better.
2080404 tn?1643113754 My doctor just took me off Lithium and what I was taking to sleep- Trazadone- and switched me to Tegretol and Ambien. I have Bi polar type II and Borderline Personality Disorder with Ultradian cycles. I just joined this site while doing absent-minded research browsing on the two disorders and decided "why not?". Set up a profile and even trackers which is something else. But I can't help but find purely scientific facts about the medicines, has anyone been on them?
202665 tn?1248806733 Besides the medications I take for depression and BP (Cymbalta, lamictal, lithium), I've also been tking 50mg of Trazadone and 10mg of Ambien nightly for about 6 months. Sometimes it works...sometimes not. If I miss a certain window of time to take the night drugs...I'm wired instead of sleepy. I will stay up until 3-4a wandering around..eventually get a couple hours sleep, and still have high energy the next day...or couple days...until I crash.
142722 tn?1281533616 I joined this hoping to meet some mommies who share the same concerns as I do. I am currently on the meds xanax, lamictal, ambien. I am in the process of weining off prisiq, topomax and was taken off hydroxozine as well. I am a nervous reck about taking this meds while i am preg since I did not take any medication during my first 2 pregnancies. I truly trust my doctor but am still scared. He has put me on double the dose of folic acid since I am taking the lamictal.
1133317 tn?1264881827 I am on lamictal, xanax, ambien and in the process of weining off oxycotin for a back injury i suffered due to a car accident. I never had these concerns bc i was just diagnosed with borderline personailty disorder and bi polar II in june of 08. So my previous pregnancies I was not taking any medications This time around I am on multiple and worst of all a opiatewhich is going to be the hardiest off all to wein off. My doctor has assured me that the 3 meds i listed above all safe.
Avatar n tn One week ago a psychiatrist put me on 300mg Lamictal pm (without titration), 20mg Geodon pm, 1mg Intuniv pm, 10mg Ambien pm, 15mg Focalin am, and 40mg Vyvanse am for ADHD and bipolar. Prior this regimen I wasn't on any medications. Today I had to call an amulance as my resting pulse shot up to 140bpm and my blood pressure went up to 166/90. I thought I was going to die. As well, my lymph nodes are swollen and a bleeding rash has started to form on my hand.
Avatar f tn Because I just quit my Lamictal, Klonopin, and ambien cold turkey, I am 15 weeks but have to go to a high risk pregnancy dr. on the 23rd for a level 2 ultrasound so make sure that me stopping my medication didn't cause any nueral tube defects, or heart problems.... I am freaking out myself... I've had 3 ultrasounds so far and baby is fine, but it's still not big enough to tell..... Call your prescribing Dr. and tell them you need to be weened off the medication slowly.....
Avatar f tn I have depression and bipolor. I was taking lamictal 300mg at night and also ambien for sleep. I have become very depressed and irratable and thinking I'm losing my mind, I forget things and confused.
337492 tn?1212458836 Yuck! So, I am doing awsome on Wellbutrin and Lithium and have not gone manic, but I am not sleeping at all! So, I thought adding a low dose of Risperdal is a good move? I was prescribed 1mg but after reading the horrible stories about the side effects such as lactation, weight gain and zombie head I split my tablets in half. Not perfect halves but close enough. I read more people had less side effects on .5mg. So opinions please??
5764859 tn?1400881756 fed up and want to strangle the fish and kick the dog and sleeeeeeeeepy. We were on a holiday and the rest of the people around me were "normal" and frustrated with me being so sleepy and holding them back! Just remember: you have options in life, but giving up is not an option.
Avatar f tn I have Bipolar I, and have been experiencing a great deal of relief from Lamictal/Lamotrigine for several years. However, my psychiatrist is starting to raise the dose, and I don't know why. I haven't been with this psychiatrist for very long. I was on the usual dose of 200mg/day; then, she raised it to 400mg/day. I'm not sure I felt much better from raising it, but it's possible, so I wasn't worried. Now, though, she wants to raise it to 600mg/day.
Avatar f tn Hi and welcome to the forum! Wellbutrin is an atypical AD and with them it's very personal, it really depends from one person to another. Give it the time to kick in tho, it takes a minimum of 2 weeks. Best of luck to you. sophie.
Avatar m tn s now experiencing diarrhea frequently and stomach pain often lately. She also takes Lamictal, Valium (as needed only, which isn't very often), and currently Doxepin to help her sleep (most recently it was Ambien then changed to Doxepin), and Simvastatin for Cholesterol control. She's eating very good since all this has come out. She's starting to lose weight but hasn't had any energy to exercise very much, which we know is extremely important.
499220 tn?1243052283 But I take Vicodin, Clonopin, Verapamil, Lamictal, Cymbalta, Ferrous Sulfate, Lofibra, Ambien, Lyrica, Flovent, Albuterol, Novolog, Lantus, Metformin.....that's what I can think of off the top of my head, there's more though....) probably because of all the meds that I take. But I was feeling good the last dose into the treatment 2 tabs for 7 days. But here I am again with another lump on my leg, just a little bit a way from where the last one was, and I feel sick.
Avatar f tn t bother her so much when she was really manic but now that she is in a depressed state it seems to be make the depression that much worse. And it ***** for her because she is 15 it is hard enough to try and act normal when your 15 and not bipolar.
Avatar f tn ve tried elavil, verapamil, back to elavil, and eventually Topirimate- since I was put on lamictal in 2011 after a bad mix of Effexor (which I was put on after anxiety/depression from work caused IBS, and bought a nice 6 week break in outpatient treatmemt) and Epidural Steroid Injections. APPARENTLY- Corticosteroids, and antidepressants can cause mania in some people "mood disorder" and now there is a black box warning about suicidality...2011. Oh yes.
Avatar f tn Hi Michelle...I'm bipolar. I take lamictal, zoloft for the bipolar. Ambien as needed for sleep. My mania seems to come at night the most and sleep is an issue. I was prescribed xanax for the mania as well. I'm very hyper. In the beginning, I was told no too. But when my new doctor saw how hyper I was first hand, he didn't have any problems filling the prescription. I also suffer from anxiety attacks. Thus, I was having one in his presence.
